After Elizabeth left his office, she communicated with Andrew and passed Alexander’s message to him.
He wasn’t prepared and he tried telling her to talk him into pushing the date forward a little, but she declined. She didn’t want to have any problem with her boss.
After Alexander’s schedule for that day had been checked, they rode to Andrew’s restaurant in their respective cars.
The furnishings inside the restaurant were old, and the interior was not pleasing to the eye.
He had no customers when they entered, and it didn’t look like he’d had any that day.
Andrew was visibly nervous when they entered the restaurant. He was putting on an apron and a chef’s hat, ready for what he would call an interview. How he performs will determine if he gets the job or not.
Forcing a smile, he walked to where they were standing.
"Good evening, sir." Andrew said as he stretched his hand forward for a handshake.
Alexander took his hand. "Good evening."
Andrew turned to look at Elizabeth and stretched his hand forward for a handshake. "Good evening, Ms. Felix."
A smile curled on Elizabeth’s lips as she took his hand. "Evening, Mr. McCarthy."
She noticed how nervous he was, so she squeezed his hand a little while the handshake was on, assuring him that everything was going to be okay.
When the handshake took longer than it should, Alexander cleared his throat, causing them to release their hands immediately.
Alexander pressed his lips together. "Shall we begin?"
"Definitely sir." Andrew said, then pointed toward one of the round tables in the restaurant. "Please sit down there while I prepare it."
"Take your time." Alexander said, as he strode to the table and eased on the chair by it.
Andrew gave his head a little bow. "Thank you, sir."
He turned on his heels and started walking towards the kitchen, with Elizabeth trailing behind him.
"Ms. Felix!" Alexander yelled with a thunderous tone, which caused her to shudder and freeze. "Where are you going?"
She turned back to look at him. "I thought I could give him a helping hand." She responded with a small voice.
"Come back here." He beckoned at her. "He is supposed to do it alone."
She opened her mouth to protest, but her words died on her lips when she saw the dark look in his eyes.
Nervously, she trudged to where he was sitting and sat on the empty chair across from him.
The air surrounding them was so uncomfortable that they sat down in silence.
Thirty minutes later, Andrew appeared in front of them bearing a tray.
He carefully placed the tray on the table and stood nervously beside them.
"Let’s see what you have for us." Alexander muttered as he uncovered the plate of food in front of him.
"What the f**k is this?!" He exclaimed as he gawked at the contents of the plate.
