Tears threatening to spill over her cheeks, she turned on her heels and went back to her desk. She doesn’t understand why he hated her so much. Just a few hours ago, he was nice to her, and now he’s calling her dense? That’s the worst possible insult anyone could dish at her, and she hated it so much. Blowing out a frustrated breath, she reached for her phone and dialed Mr. Daniel’s number. "Good morning, Mr. Daniel." She said into the phone when he picked up. "Good morning, Ms. Felix." He replied. "How are you doing?" "I am fine, thank you." She said, and went straight to the point. "Please, where are you? Mr. Henderson asked me to get the company’s card from you.” "Oh alright." He muttered. "You are in your office, right?" "Yes." "I would bring it to you right now." He said. "I’ll be waiting." She said and ended the call. Mr. Daniel bustled inside the office a few minutes later, a smile tugging on his lips. "Sorry, I should have given you this before now, but Mr. Henderson asked me to keep it for the meantime." He explained as he approached her. She smiled. "I have to get a Swiss wristwatch as a birthday gift for Mr. Anthony; that’s why I need it now." "Mr. Anthony?" He asked, raising a brow. She nodded her head. "Yes." "Uhm…" he scratched his temple. “I was going to his place. I could deliver Mr. Henderson’s message for you. You don’t have to stress." He offered. "Are you sure?" She narrowed her eyes. "Is Mr. Henderson going to be okay with that?" "Why not?" He chuckled softly. "The most important thing is for it to get there; he wouldn’t mind how it gets there. Mr. Henderson is not so difficult." She lifted her shoulders in a half-shrug. "Well, to me, he is." "You got on his bad side on your first day. But I would advise you to do everything he asks you to do. And on time, of course. He doesn’t tolerate laziness. Just do as he says, and you would be fine.” He advised. A smile curled on her lips. "I would try my best." "Very well." He nodded his head. "Do you need anything else?" She shook her head slightly. "No." "See you later, Ms. Felix." He muttered as he turned on his heels and strode to the door. "Bye," she said. The moment Mr. Daniel was out of the office, she eased back on her seat and her stomach suddenly grumbled. She had been too busy to even think about food since she arrived at the office. Leaping to her feet, she yawned as she made her way out of the office to go and find something to eat. She knew the company’s restaurant was on the ground floor, but she didn’t know where exactly it was. Luckily, when she got to the ground floor, she sighted a man who was sticking a toothpick inside his teeth. It was evident that he had just finished eating, so she decided to ask him for directions. "Excuse me." She said as she quickly approached him. "Me?" The man asked, stopping in his tracks. She nodded her head. "Yes." A smile curled on his lips as he stared at her. "How may I help you, beautiful?" "Sorry, I am new here. And I still don’t know my way around. If you don’t mind, can you please direct me to where the restaurant is?" She rubbed her belly. "My stomach is begging me to fill it up." The man laughed, and his laughter was infectious. He pointed in a direction. "Just go through that hallway; you’ll see restaurant boldly inscribed on one of the doors by the left." Her lips spread into a smile as she slightly bowed her head in appreciation. "Thank you." "What’s—" the man started, but Elizabeth cut him off. "I’ll get going then." She said and took off before he could reply. She knew what he was going to ask of—her name, her number, or whatever annoying strangers ask of when a girl asks them for direction. And she wasn’t interested in getting involved in unnecessary conversations. She didn’t have time for that. As she walked down the hallway, she kept looking at the inscriptions on the doors on her left, as the stranger had instructed her to. She almost thought she had gotten lost when she didn’t see restaurant written on any of the doors. But after a few more steps, she finally saw the restaurant, and her mouth curled into a smile. Two female employees bustled out of the restaurant. One had shoulder-length brunette hair, and the other had blonde hair that was rolled up into a bun. They were both giggling and chatting about Mr. Henderson as they walked past Elizabeth. "I had never seen Mr. Henderson up close before." The one with shoulder-length brunette hair said. "He is so breathtaking. I wouldn’t mind bearing a child for him." Her partner added "Bearing a child for him is a double blessing. Your child would look like a demigod and have a wealthy father." The one with the brunette hair beamed. Disgusted by their conversation, she shook her head and quickly opened the door. How would they want to bear a child for a man just because of his looks? They probably haven’t seen the other side of him. "Bunch of idiots." She growled as she ventured into the restaurant. It took her a few seconds to process that she had said that out loud, and when she did, she gasped and quickly looked around to make sure that no one had heard her. As she turned to her right, her eyes met Alexander’s death glare.
