Premonition

1026 Words
Emmett As soon as I heard what happened to Conrad's sister my head started to ache and I broke up in cold sweat. I became dizzy and had to leave the room. I rushed to my chambers and threw up. Washed my face and looking into my mirror for a split second I saw a pair of emerald green eyes in the reflection. - What the hell is going on? - I asked out loud and went to my bed. I laid down with my eyes closed and tried to calm my racing heart. I turned to my side and fall asleep. When I opened my eyes I saw a frail looking woman in a long, white nightgown, standing in my window with her back to me. The moonlight shined, lighting her hair which looked like the finest velvet silk. Her figure was clearly visible as the moon shine illuminated her gown. She was stunning. I didn't dare to move or say anything. I was mesmerized by her beauty. She turned around and smiled. Her smile warmed my heart up, she said something that I couldn't hear her. I blinked and when I opened my eyes I stared at my window where she stood a few moments ago. The room was empty and the loneliness I've felt made the night colder. A soft knock on my door forced me to get up. - Come in! - I said and Lizzy entered. - Are you feeling better brother? You didn't come for dinner. - she walked closer and closed the door behind her. - Physically yes, although I don't know how will I be able to sleep tonight. It looks like I've slept through the day... - I sat back on my bed and Lizzy sat next to me. - I'm glad you are feeling better. Listen, I've been thinking about what we talked today. I want to meet the witch. - I grabbed her shoulders and turned her to face me. - I won't allow that! Even if I find her and she becomes our ally, she could be dangerous! We cannot risk anyone to harm you! - she put her small hand on mine and smiled at me. Lizzy grew up so much, it wasn't that long ago when I left Conrad with her to protect her while I was at war. She is now fourteen and a young, beautiful woman. Soon she'll fall in love for the first time and in a blink of an eye she will start her own family... At that thought of mine, I suddenly remembered of that woman's smile from my dream and my heart clenched. - Emmett, are you okay? - I nodded. - I just had a weird dream and it looks like I'm not fully awake yet. - she looked at me curiously. - What were you dreaming about? - I thought for a moment if I should tell her or not. - Nothing important, I'm okay. - she tilted her head like an adorable puppy. - Are you sure? - Absolutely. But after what we heard from Conrad, there is no way I'll try to befriend him. Hopefully, we won't meet ever. About the witch, I'll discuss it with Sébastien and father more carefully tomorrow. - Lizzy hugged me and gave a peck on my cheek. - Fine! Don't forget about the Spring ball, it would be nice to find her before that. - Why? - I asked and Lizzy grinned at me playfully. - Let's call it a premonition! - she said and ran out of my room like a little kid, who was up to no good. I laid back on my bed and wondered who that woman could've been in my dream. I definitely never met anyone who looked like her, also, I've never met anyone with red hair apart from Conrad. Premonition, Lizzy said. She got visions but never said anything justifying with premonition... I must give credit to her ability and really find that witch before the Spring ball. I had three weeks until then. I got up from my bed and decided to pay a visit to Sébastien. As expected I found him in his office, sleeping soundly om a stack of documents. - Sleeping beauty! Wake up before your Prince kisses you! - I whispered into his ears and Sébastien's eyes popped open. He grabbed my throat and hit me against the desk. - Calm down Sebby! - he was only fully awake at that moment. He released me and started to apologize. - You sacred the soul out of me Emmett! Dear Lord... Don't do that again or you'll be the Crown Prince! - I lifted my hands as a sign of backing up. - Sorry, I won't. I don't desire this burden! - Sebby rolled his eyes. - What the hell are you doing here this late at night? - Sebby asked. - Aren't you even asking me if I'm feeling better!? - I asked with faked hurt in my voice. Sebby grabbed a document and looked at it before he answered. - Considering that you are here pulling pranks on me, you are better than ever. So, why are you here? - he asked and I shrugged. - You are loosing your sense of humor with age...I came because Lizzy told me something really interesting. - Sébastien's eyes opened wide. - About? - he asked and there was a strange expression on his face. - That we should make her our ally before that Spring ball. She said its a premonition. She never justified anything woth this reason and she made me curious about that witch. - Sebby's face relaxed and thought for a few seconds before he reacted. - Not a bad idea actually. - She said she wants to meet the witch but I don't think it's a good idea to bring her with me. - Me neither, but if everything goes according to the plan, she can meet the witch at the Spring ball. - I'll prepare for the journey tomorrow and let Conrad know as well. Goodnight brother! - Goodnight Emmett.
