A Cry For Help Never Answered

258 Words
She runs away She has nowhere to go The tears are falling like rain. She turns a corner To find a drunk bum She thinks 'I must be insane.' She grabs a broken piece of glass She feels there is no way. She jams it into her tiny bruised arm And falls to the ground. The red blood is flowing everywhere She knows not what to do. She tries to run But is quite faint She falls into the arms Of the drunk man. She says that she is sorry There is nothing left for her. She thought there was no way out But to do what she did. She's lying in the man's arms Bleeding half to death. All she knows is he is yelling Trying to save her life. Her eyelids are closing now She's feeling extremely weak. She know she will not make it She tells the man to leave her be. She wants to die in peace she says So he carries her to a lovely flower garden And that is where she dies in peace. I wrote this poem when I was in a very dark place.  My junior year of high school was a lonely year in terms of having friends to talk on a daily basis.  I was just starting to bounce back from having such a shitty year, when my first love showed up and reopened the emotional scars that hadn't fully healed.  I'm thankful every day that I had the willpower to not succumb to my dark feelings, and instead put them on paper.  If I had given up on life back then, I wouldn't be living a happy life now, with my loving husband and my four beautiful daughters.
