Up In Heaven
Grandmother I did not know you
As well as I wish I did
And now that you have left us
It's time to close the lid.
I know that you're in heaven
Where you'd rather be
Hanging out with old family and friends
Watching over me.
The time we've spent together
Has been filled with love and fun
Even though you've been sick
But that's why your time has come.
I will always miss and love you
Like I have these many years
Thus being the only reason
I need to shed these tears.
I hope I don't disappoint you
With what I do and say
And I definitely plan to join you
Up in heaven someday.
I wrote this poem in honor of my grandmothers. My parents moved us to several states away from our family, so my siblings and I didn't get to spend much time with our grandparents. After losing both of my grandmothers, I decided to write this poem for them.
