9THE ARRIVAL OF Nora’s Uncle Delfin was being transformed into an occasion for celebration, although he was coming because of a misfortune. King’s Aunty Edith did not open her store today to help Nora’s mother clean the house and prepare lunch for the visitor. The girls had to be looked after also, although Edith knew she could rely on Nora to do this. Edith took two cans of sardines, two packs of noodles for making soup and a kilo of rice from her store, and cooked them in Nora’s house. She also helped Estela bathe herself because the younger woman wanted to welcome her brother-in-law when he arrived.
