After 6 hours of driving, we arrived at the gate of William's car. They increased the number of guards and had been training the weak omega's as well as the weak members of the pack, which earned his beta and his luna earned my respect. They are doing their best to protect the pack from an unknown attack.
The gate opened immediately, seeing the car and my beta. He is a well-known figure in the supernatural world because of his quick strategy on the battlefield as well as his wise advice. I envied him all the time.
The car entered from the gate and moved towards the pack house where William is currently being treated.
I saw the number of guards outside of the pack house and it was kind of shocking for me because hundreds were standing around the whole pack house. Eden turned his head from the front seat to see my face and he was as shocked as me.
I don't know who thought something like this in this situation, but whoever that person is, he is purely stupid and nothing else. How can they think that if they place hundreds of warriors outside of the packhouse they won't attack again? I wanted to slap my head with my hand at their stupid decision. They should have increased the patrol guards around their territory.
As soon as the car stopped, I saw his beta standing outside of the pack house. Eden stepped out of the car and I followed him.
He respectfully bowed his head when he saw me. Then he walked towards us saying,
" Welcome your highness."
I just gave him a curt nod. He led us inside the pack house and I witnessed something unusual. His pack house is not what it used to be. Back then it was luxurious and now it's like they are just putting up with maintaining the pack house. I didn't know what was the reason behind this drastic change. But I need to know.
" Eden, I need you to find out what has happened in the past eight months in this pack," I said to Eden over the link.
" Sure," he replied.
" They are handling the pack in the wrong way," he said, and I agreed with him immediately.
" You need to check one more thing. Has anyone visited the pack in past years?" I said to him when I caught something very unusual. My eyes narrowed when I saw the door of the room was not locked anymore. That room belongs to his late sister Maya, who lost her life in a rough attack when she was 17. Since then, William ordered his room to stay locked so that no one stayed in his beloved sister's room.
" Yes," he said.
We both followed William's beat Jeremy to the 3rd floor where he is right now. He knocked on the door once softly before pushing the door open.
Jeremy stepped aside and we both entered the room. His luna stood up sensing my presence and bowed her head, but I motioned her not to.
Her eyes are red and puffy from the crying. She looked tired and nothing like the graceful Luna I met at the palace when we threw the ball.
" Your highness," she said, her voice breaking at the end.
" Take a rest for now. I will need some time with him," I said softly, walking towards her. She nodded and walked away from the room. Leaving us alone.
" Your Highness, I am so sorry, I couldn't get up," he said, and I sat down on the chair next to his bed. I placed my hand on his shoulder.
" Don't bother yourself with the formalities," I said, and looked at his face.
He showed the sense of being hit by silver dandelion, a kind of poison that can kill a lycan within 24 hours if not treated properly.
" I know that I don't have any time left," he said, but I stopped him in the middle.
" You will be fine," I said.
" Eden, call Matt and tell him to come here secretly and also tell him the situation. Tell him to bring extra potions," I said. He gave me a curt nod before leaving the room.
" Do you have any idea who they were?" I asked him.
His eyes went wide immediately after hearing my words. His body went stiff like memories of the attack flashing in. I quickly grabbed his hand and squeezed it.
" William,'' I said a little louder and was careful not to use my authoritative tone.
His eyes found my face and he relaxed visibly under my touch. I saw a lone tear roll down from his eyes. Now I have to be careful not to mention the incident in front of him until he recovers completely.
" Your highness," Eden came rushing.
I turned my head to look at him. Is he any kind of charm or bad news or what? Whenever he rushes away, he always brings bad news.
" What happened Eden," I asked, rolling my eyes inwardly.
" I was coming back after I made the call with Matt and I saw a maid outside of the door standing with a tray of soup. It looked suspicious to me, so I also stood away behind her. When I saw she didn't intend to go in, I walked to her and confronted her. I don't know what she had done. She collapsed immediately and fell to the ground. When I checked her pulse she was already dead," he said, making my brain buzz with questions.
I looked at William, who also had the same expression on his face as well.
" Go out immediately and don't let anyone touch her body or that soup until I go out there to check for myself,'' I said and he gave me a curt nod and was about to go out.
" And did Matt say when he would arrive?" I asked him. He was the only person I could trust.
" By this afternoon," he said before leaving the room.
" Don't worry about anything. You will be fine by the end of the night,'' I said, and he nodded softly at me. I stood up and left his room.
