The Alpha's Estranged Daughter

Luna knew it was a dream. She smiled softly,she had always wanted to travel the world,eat food from every continent and possibly check out men from every corner of the continent so when she dreamt,that was usually what her dreams were full of. She opened her eyes to see that the full moon was out,no wonder she felt such exhilaration. She briefly considered going on a run but immediately changed her mind,since it was a full moon,there would be several others wanting to go on runs too and she wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone. She rolled in her bed just as she heard something. She might have dismissed it as nothing if she hadn't gotten a faint whiff of mulberry which was famous for concealing scents from the ordinary werewolf. However, nothing about her was ordinary with two pureblooded Alpha parents so she could smell the man just outside her window very well. She kept her eyes closed and her breathing slow like she was fast asleep while she waited for him to make a move. He made a move a few seconds later when he easily opened her window to slide in to her room which was strange since the window could not be opened from outside but she would worry about that later,he was currently standing above her bed, staring down at her. She smelt something different,oil,the type that was used to polish blades and she frowned, turning around just in time to catch his hand that was descending on her. She growled as she broke the wrist that held the blade, flinging it across the room and immediately grabbing the man by his neck,her claw on his jugular. He was wearing a piece of black cloth over his face and his scent wasn't familiar,maybe it was the mulberry. "How disgusting. How could you dishonor me by using a blade?",She asked,truly curious. "It's not just a blade",He sneered. She looked at the blade that now gave off a faint yellowish colour,it had been dipped in wolfsbane and mulberry. She slammed him against the wall. "Who are you ?",She growled. "One of many",He replied. She frowned,she hated puzzles and anything that wasn't straight to the point. "What do you want?",She asked calmly and the man chuckled. Luna stared at him,did he think that she wanted answers that badly from him. "I will never…" She interrupted his strong-willed statement with a snap and watched as the light faded from his eyes. She tore the cloth off his face,he wasn't from her pack,not that anyone in her pack would even do something like this. She was thinking of what to do with him because she didn't want to have to deal with waking her parents up or Gamma Louis who was in charge of security. Suddenly,Luna smelt something else,the undeniable smell of smoke. She got on her feet and looked out the window to see what exactly was burning. "By the goddesses…",She breathed softly. Several pack houses were on fire and there was no commotion. She wasn't the only one that had received an assassin,they had probably killed their victims and set their houses on fire. She ran out of her room, banging on doors as she headed for the top floor where her parents occupied. "Luna,what's going on?" She turned to find Gamma Louis's fiance,Helena staring at her,she looked distraught. "Where's Louis?",She asked. "When I woke up,he wasn't in bed",She answered, she looked worried. "The pack houses are on fire and there are assassins around,gather people and move in groups to the central pack ground",She told her and continued her run to the top floor. Just as she reached the last flight of stairs,she noticed the thick blanket of smoke that surrounded the stairwell and she froze for a second, thinking the worst . No,it wasn't possible. Her parents were the Alphas of the North,no one could harm them. She ran in to the smoke. "Mama?!?! Dad?!?!",She yelled and heard nothing in return. There was no sign of a fire but the smoke was squeezing her lungs,wolfsbane. Someone had added wolfsbane in to the fire,that's why there was so much poisonous smoke around. She ran even faster as she approached her parents room and stumbled,almost loosing her balance when her legs hit something. She stared down, trying to make out what it was and realized that it was someone,a dead someone. She stared at the body,she couldn't get any scent off of it but she was certain he was a pack member,even as she stared at him,her heart broke and tears poured down her eyes. She ran ahead, kicking down the door to her parents room. A tornado of black smoke rushed out at her but she stood her ground walking in to the large room. The room was dark but her night vision was superb and she immediately saw the state of the room. There were bodies everywhere. On the floor,the couches,the tables,the beds,there was almost fifty of them. The floor was littered with them,they weren't pack members,they all smelled of mulberry like the one from earlier. She was making her way through them when she perceived something familiar,her parents were somewhere in this room,their scent was clouded by all the mulberry and wolfsbane coated weapons. Luna closed her eyes and followed her nose to her parents. They were on the balcony that was wide enough to be a room on its own. She immediately saw her Dad on his knees,he was facing the moon. "Dad!!!",She called as she ran towards him. "Oh God,I was worried,where is mama?",She asked as she touched his shoulder. He turned towards her and Luna fell to the ground,her legs had failed her due to shock. Her father was bloody due to whatever had ensued here but that wasn't what had shocked her so much. In her father's hands,was her mama. Her silver hair shone like the moon and her face looked like she was sleeping but Luna knew she wasn't asleep. Maybe it was the look in her father's eyes,a look of quiet,cold insanity or the pain that gripped at her heart, squeezing it so mercilessly. Luna opened her mouth to call for her mama but instead she found herself howling uncontrollably,she howled harder than she ever had. Her eyes fixed on the moon, begging her for this to be all a bad dream. She didn't know how long she howled for but when she stopped,her throat hurt and her father had not moved an inch,she crawled slowly and hugged her Mama's legs,the faint scent of her Mama's homemade lavender perfume hurting her more than it comforted her. The smoke intensified and the sound of furniture succumbing to the heat filled the air but the little family of three did not move. Her father probably couldn't physically bring himself to move as he had just watched his mate ripped away from him while Luna had no cause to move, everything she loved was afterall,right here. Luna stood on shaky legs to stare at her Mama,she touched her face in anguish. How could she be cold already? How could she be gone? She didn't even remember the last thing she said to her Mama. It suddenly occured to Luna that if they didn't leave,her Mama's body would be burnt,so she touched her father and even though he didn't even look up at her,he understood and they slowly made their way out of the balcony. The smoke didn't deter or disturb them in the least as they moved slowly through it,Father and daughter holding on to the dead wife and mother. Tears rolled down her eyes as she walked over the body of the pack member from earlier. Now that her senses were on high alert,she could smell him. It was Gamma Louis. Just as they got to the next floor,her father growled into the darkness just as a group of about twelve people walked out. Luna touched her father's arm, pushing him slightly. Her father kept walking and in that moment Luna stepped forward,she had never been a messy fighter but today,she wanted to feel it all. Their blood,their intentions,their lives. It ended way to soon,she shook angrily when she realized how soon they had all died. She ran after her Father, hoping that there was more people she could kill. Maybe if she killed enough of them,she wouldn't hurt so much. She ran through the burning hallways that she had been running through since she was a child and watched as the home she had known all her life crumbled before her eyes. She reached the ground floor and was immediately pulled outside,when she turned around,fangs ready to tear open,she discovered that it was Beta Nico,her Mama's childhood friend,he was also covered in soot and blood. "Where is my Father?",She asked him. He nodded towards the middle of the ground where a group of people were gathered. She headed there, jogging softly. Her father was in the middle while her pack members surrounded him, holding on to different parts of her Mama as they all collectively began to howl. She looked at the faces of her Pack and saw that they were all covered in soot too. It hadn't been just her family that had been targeted, someone had sought to kill off her entire Pack. She was confused,they were a peaceful and prosperous Pack. They gave back to the shapeshifting community and even the human community. Why would anyone do this? "Luna?" She immediately looked up, thinking someone was calling out to her Mama,it was something that had always happened since her Mama's title was Luna and her name was Luna. Whenever she asked her Mama why she had named her that out of the millions of names that existed,her Mama had always replied that she had been in such awe of her new born baby that she had panicked and named her Luna. Now,her Mama would never be in awe or be able to panic. She looked at Beta Nico. "What is it?'',She asked. He bowed slightly. "This is everyone that survived,Luna. What do we do?",he inquired. She blinked,of course she was next in command, her parents had trained her with that in mind. She looked at her father where he stood,he seemed like just a shell. As alphas,they were stronger and better than any wolf but it also meant their grief was greater and right now,her father could feel the death of every member of his Pack in his heart, especially that of his mate. "Provide shelter for them first,get a search party ready,there might be other survivors and I want you to stay with my Father,make sure he doesn't do anything extreme",She instructed. "What are you planning on doing?",He asked. "There are others still left in our territory,I can feel them crawling around like maggots, I'm going to take care of them",She said softly. "Luna…",he called, stopping her. She turned to him,her eyes lit up with her Alpha gaze. "Be careful",he said. She said nothing and howled to let them know she was coming after them.
