4. I blinked my eyes. Confused. Someone was removing the needle from my arm. A tongue was l*****g me in the crevice of my elbow. I gave out an irritated groan. Adrian, completely dressed, sat on the edge of the round bed. ‘What the hell happened?’ I asked. ‘I nearly drank all of you,’ he said, amused rather than sorry. I let my eyelids droop a little. That room was too bright. I lifted myself up onto my elbows. I was feeling good. Better than good. I felt magnificent. I felt strong and full of energy. ‘You gave me a transfusion, right?’ I asked, shocked. ‘Yup.’ I sat up and scratched the back of my neck, still half asleep. ‘Right, because you don’t drink blood that has been banked?’ I yawned. ‘I suppose, those substances you were talking about aren’t present in banked blood, right?
