Within an hour, Travis and Jacey had discovered that their theories were only partly right. By making a comment about the ring Mavis wore and watching as she turned her hand over they were reasonably sure that she was human as were Tom and most of the other customers who came into the store.
"You know why the customers are human don't you?" Jacey said as they sat in the Jaguar just along the road from the store a few moments later.
Travis shrugged. "I'm pleased so many locals are human of course but don't really know why most of those going into the store are." He pouted. "I'm positive that middle-aged woman who hung around the hardware section for ages was an android, though. Her arm movements were really jerky."
