Here We Go

chapter 12

I flew through the city only to see these weird ugly looking aliens flying on some weird things coming out of the portal and blowing up everything. I could hear people screaming and running down below in a huge panic as the aliens blew up cars. I quickly threw a huge fireball at one of the space crafts making two of the aliens fly off instantly killing them when they hit the ground.

I then froze another space craft with ice sending it down. I tried to fly closer to the portal hitting a few more along the way as they flew past me. As I got close to the portal above Bolton towers I saw Enyo and Eris fighting on top of the tower and Marcus was being chased by three space crafts. Now I could shoot one but he's doing alright on his own. For some reason I had the song 'it's the end of the world' stuck in my head as I was flying by. How ironic.

I kept shooting space crafts below me with ice and fire and soon enough a couple of aliens saw me and started chasing me. "Follow the leader." I said as I swooped down to the ground and back up again. They were still following me so I quickly turned a corner at one of the huge buildings and circled around it only to see the aliens chasing me looking around for me all confused. "Wow you are terrible at this game." I said before shooting them both with fire causing them to crash. "Bye thanks for playing!" I yelled to them as they went down.

"Boltons we're on your three headed north east." Alexandra said in my ear piece. "What did you stop for groceries? Swing up the park I'm going to clear them out for you." Marcus said. I saw the jet that Jake was driving coming up and Marcus was flying through the middle of the Main Street shooting every space craft in sight. I was just about to help him when suddenly I felt something hit into me. I felt like I got hit by a truck and it surprised me so much I couldn't slow down and I slammed down on the middle of the road face first.

"What the hell?" I groaned getting up and noticing a hole in my suit. As soon as I was on my feet a ray shot right beside me barely missing me and leaving a huge burnt hole in the cement. I looked up to see another space craft with two aliens on it aiming at me. "That's not nice." I said before freezing them with ice.

"Man I could be sleeping right now." I said to myself looking around at the screaming town and shooting aliens. Suddenly the jet Jake was driving came crashing down right in front of me and skidded across the street and into the sidewalk before finally stopping. I rushed over to see James, Alexandra, amd Jake running out and looking up at the portal. "Damn Jake remind me to never get in a car with you driving." I said as they looked over to me. "Ha ha very funny. You try driving in an alien invasion." He said.

James took off running and we all followed. "We have to get back up there." James said. We turned the corner and went down the street only to stop suddenly. We all looked up to see a huge whale like scary skeletal robot machine flying out of the portal. It went over our heads and was twisting around in the air like a snake. Suddenly lights glowed and shifted on the sides of it and tons of aliens started jumping out.

"Bolton are you seeing this?" James said over the ear piece. "Seeing still working on believing. Where's Campbell has he showed up yet?" Marcus asked. "Campbell?" James asked. "Just keep me posted." Marcus said. "Don't worry guys I think I can handle this thing." I said as I watched it maneuver through buildings. "You sure?" James asked. "Yeah I think so I mean the bigger they are the harder they fall right? Wish me luck." I said before flying back into the air and chasing after the alien whale robot.

"Yoo-hoo Lucy!" I shouted at the thing. It either ignored me or couldn't hear me because it kept going. "Man how much blubber is on you big fella?" I said randomly before speeding up way in front of it and facing the front of the thing as it came toward me. Putting my hands up I quickly tried to freeze it. The front of it started to freeze over but it was barely slowing any. Pushing myself to my limit and using everything I got I held my breath and pushed more ice out of my hands than ever before.

The ice started to freeze over half of the robot but it was still going. I had to back up as it was getting closer and closer. Using up all my energy and still going I could feel the sweat on the back of my neck and my energy draining fast as I became faint. I have to keep going. More ice than ever shot out of my hands and covered the entire things body. Suddenly it stopped going and plummeted to the ground fast hitting a building and shattered.

I dropped my hands exhausted and dropped back down by James, Lexi, and Jaket. "You alright?" Jake asked. "Yeah but it's gonna be awhile before I try that again." I said out of breathe. Suddenly more of those whale things came out of the portal and started spreading around. "We got civilians trapped." Jake said. Suddenly more of those space crafts flew past us and on one of them was Eris. "Eris." James said. The aliens and Eris shot up cars on the street below us and fire spreaded as people ran and screamed.

"They don’t stand a chance down there." James said. Suddenly about eleven aliens jumped out a little ways in front of us preparing to fight. "We've got this James you go help them." I said. "You sure?" He asked. "Positive go." I said. "You think you can hold them off?" James said to Jake. "Captain, it'd be my genuine pleasure." He said before aiming an arrow at the aliens. Jake shot one in the head causing the aliens gun to go off and shoot others around it. Alexandra got up and started shooting them with her guns and I exploded a car next to a few killing them as James ran off to help the people.

More started coming our way but we kept going. Jake and I helped civilians off a bus as Alexandra covered us. When they all got off and ran to safety Jake and I came back and shot at the aliens again. "This is just like Switzerland all over." Lexi said. "You and I remember Switzerland very differently." Jake said. I exploded two more cars by aliens and ducked as one shot at me before turning to the two. "Wait what happened in Switzerlandt?" I asked confused.

"I'll tell you later." Jake said. "Why am I always last to know stuff." I complained before creating a huge hole in the ground swallowing up a huddled group of aliens and then closed it together.

Later on we were still fighting as Jake was stabbing one and Lexi was on top of another. I had just freezed two as I got slammed to the ground. I looked up just in time to avoid being stabbed by one of them and I quickly kicked him off only for him to get up and another one to come up beside him to help attack me. "I am getting so tired of you ugly Shrek looking lizard freaks. You need some donkeys to chill out or something." I yelled before freezing them both. As I turned around to face another one lightning struck and killed him and a few others. That's when Enyo landed beside me.

"Thanks" I said. Jake, Lexi and James came over to us. "What's the story upstairs?" James asked Enyo. "The power surrounding the cube is too powerful. I can’t reach it." She said. "Enyo’s right we've got to focus on these guys." Marcus said over the ear piece. "How do we do this?" Lexi asked. "As a team." James said. "I have unfinished business with Eris." Enyo said. "Yeah we'll get in line." Jake said. "Save it. Eris’s gonna keep this fight focused on us and that's what we need. Without her these things could run wild. We got Bolton up top he's gonna need us to-" James said but stopped when we heard a motorcycle coming toward us.

We all turned around to see Mark on a little motorcycle coming towards us and parking it before walking in front of us. "So this all seems bad." He said. "I've seen worse." Lexi said. "Sorry." Mark said. "No we need you." She said. "Bolton we got him just like you said." James said in the ear piece. "Campbell?" Marcus asked. "Yep." He said. "Well tell him to suit up I'm bringing the guests to you." Marcus said. We saw him come up in the distance and behind him was another one of those giant whale robots.

"I'm not taking this one it’s your turn Mark, try not to get eaten." I said. "Thanks Bailey." He said. "Well that doesn’t look like a friendly guest." Lexi said. Mark started to head toward the machine. "Dr. Campbell now might be a really good time for you to change forms." James said. "That's my secret captain, I'm always ready." He said before rapidly turning into the giant and smashing the head of the robot into the ground destroying it as its tail flew in the air about to crush us. Marcus shot a rocket at it making it explode and as the debris came towards us I used an air shield to surround us all so the debris just hit the shield and bounced off protecting us.

The aliens on the buildings around us started to scream at us in anger. We all got in a circle and watched them. I was between the giant and jake holding up a fireball in one hand and an ice ball in the other.

Suddenly many more alien whale robots and space crafts came out of the portal. "Guys." Lexi said and every one looked up at it. "Great. Just great." I muttered. "Call it cap." Marcus said. "Alright listen up. Until we can close that portal up there what we need is containment. Brant I want you up there on that roof. Eyes on everything call out patterns and strays. Bolton you've got the perimeter, anything that gets more than three blocks out you turn it back or you turn it to dust."

"Can you give me a ride?" Jake asked. "Right you better get ready." Marcus said before getting Jake and flying away. "Enyo, Bailey you two have to try and close off that portal, slow them down. You've got the lighting and you've got the fire. Light the bastards up." James said. "Well this should be fun. Good luck guys." I said before taking off with Enyo beside me.

Enyo got on top of the Empire State Building and used it as a lightning rod as she shot lighting at the portal hitting everything in her path. I was on the other side of the portal and quickly decided to try something new I've been working on. Fire and wind shot out of my hand and I swirled them around together to create a fire tornado in my palm. I made it bigger and bigger putting more energy into it and finally it grew into a massive fire tornado right in the middle of the portal causing all the aliens to be sucked into it and explode. Whatever missed the tornado got hit by Enyo’s Lightning. I could tell we were both using a lot of our energy too fast though.

We both had to eventually stop draining our power and we started to join the fighting. Enyo smashed a few spacecrafts with her hammer and I blew a few up. We saw the giant struggling while fighting aliens on top of one of the whale robots and we hopped on and started to help. We fought off as many as we could as the giant slammed a huge metal piece into the whale and Enyo shocked it with her hammer. I started to freeze the things head and the thing came down crashing right into a building and stopped dead. We all looked around. "I want to take a picture on one of these things." I said.

Enyo looked at me strangely. "What? it'd be a great souvenir." I said. Enyo looked over at the giant and suddenly the giant punched her right in the side causing her to fly off. I busted out laughing. The giant turned to me menacingly and I backed up with my hands up. "Woah big guy we're friends." I said and before he could do anything I flew off and outside back in the fight.

As I rounded the corner to one of the buildings still throwing fire at any space craft I saw, I watched as Jake shot an arrow at Eris on one of the space crafts. Eris caught it looking smug but then it suddenly exploded causing her to be thrown onto the floor of Bolton tower with her space craft crashing below. I laughed before flying off. "Nice shot Jake." I said.

Suddenly I got hit and went flying through a window of a building and onto one of the floors. Getting up I was surrounded by ten aliens hopping through the window. "I'm really starting to hate you all." I said.

I managed to keep fighting them off as more started to come at me. I was exhausted but I had to push through. One managed to trip me up and I fell down only for them all to pile on top of me trying to smother me. I struggled but couldn't get up and then I had an idea and lit my entire body on fire causing the aliens to scream and jump back. The ones closest to me were already dead and I quickly killed all the rest. I stumbled back over to the window and looked down at all the destruction.

"I can close it. Can anyone copy? I can shut the portal down." Alexandra said through the ear piece.

"Do it." James said. "No wait." Marcus said. "Bolton these things are still coming." James said. "I got a nuke coming in aimed at the city and it's going to blow in less than a minute.I know just where to put it." Marcus said.

"Marcus you know you won’t be able to make it back." James said. "Hey Bailey." Marcus said. "Yeah." I said shocked. "I'm sorry kid for everything. If I don't make it I'm sorry I won't get the chance to try to make everything up to you. I know it won't mean much but...I'm proud of you and...I love you." Marcus said. "Don't do this." I said. I know what he's done, I know I'm supposed to hate him. But I don't want to lose him. "I have to. I need to do this for you....I have changed." he said. Suddenly I saw him fly past me with the missile.

I watched him,speechless, as he took the missile into the sky and through the portal, vanishing. "Dad." I said. Suddenly all the aliens fell down dead and everything around us stopped. A huge light was starting to come out of the portal. "Close it." James said. I tried to say something but nothing would come out. The portal closed vanishing without a trace left in the sky just as a body came falling out of it. Not just any body but Marcus’s.

I quickly flew out of the building and saw that he wasn't slowing down so I went as fast as I could and used the wind to catch him and keep him hovering beside me. I laid him down on the ground as the team started to surround us. I took off Marcus’s helmet and tried to see if he was breathing. But he wasn't. He wasn't moving any. He was dead. "No. No. You selfish bastard. You can't just all of a sudden save the world and die on me like that. How am I supposed to be mad at you? Huh! Wake up!" I looked up at James with pain in my eyes as I felt tears fall down my face. I was hurt and tired. I dropped my head. He can't be dead.

All of a sudden the giant roared loudly causing Marcus to jump awake with a gasp. I looked at him shocked as the giant roared again. "What the hell? What just happened? Everything good. No one gave me mouth to mouth right." Marcus said. I started to laugh and sit down on the ground. "We won." James said. "Alright yay. Good job guys lets just not do this tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried chinese? There's a chinese place about two blocks from here. I don't know what they have but I want to try it." Marcus said.

"We're not finished yet." Enyo said. "Then Chinese after." Marcus said. We all made our way up Bolton tower. Just as Eris started to sit up Jake pointed his bow at Eris as we all gathered around staring at her. "Well that didn’t go as i planned.” Eris said.

A couple of days later....

The war is over and everything has sort of calmed down. The Saviors are all over the news and the city is being cleaned up as we speak by the Bolton foundation and my company B Corp.. Now we're all meeting up in the middle of the park to say goodbye as Enyo and Eris along with the Messer Cube go back to their world.

The Cube was put in a container and they were just about to leave. "You know Bailey we still haven't talked about you being able to hold the hammer." Enyo said to me. "Right what about it?" I asked. "only those who are worthy of my power can wield this hammer. You are the only other person besides me and my father who can hold it. You can be eligible to rule Olympus." Enyo said. "Wait what? Rule? No, no I can't I suck at politics." I said.

"Well even if you choose not to you still need to come to Olympus to meet my father and understand the rest of the universe. Being able to hold the hammer gives us certain obligations. You need to understand." Enyo said. I was shocked. "You want me to go to Olympus? Another planet?" I asked. "Yes of course you'd be able to come back home to Midgard once everything gets straightened out." Enyo said.

"Woah woah wait a minute. Bailey I was hoping we'd get to talk...and make up for lost time. You can't go to a different universe I mean come on." Marcus said coming up to me. I looked between Enyo and Marcus before making up my mind. "When I get back we can talk and stuff I don't think I need to refuse this. Besides you'll have Campbell to keep you company." I said. I could tell Marcus wanted to argue but since I was getting along with him he didn't want to push me so he nodded his head.

James walked up as Enyo and Marcus walked away to talk to the others. "So I guess I'll have to ask to take you out for coffee when you get back then huh?" James said. I smiled at him. "It's a date." I said and kissed his cheek. He looked at me shocked and blushed as I giggled. I walked up beside Enyo and held onto her arm. I looked back at everyone and smiled saying good bye. "Make sure you come back kid." Marcus said. "Don't worry you all can't get rid of me that easy." I said. Eris took the other part of the chamber and twisted it. That's when a sudden burst of light shot at us and I felt myself jolt away. Here we go.
