Chapter 2

458 Words
As the two women grappled once more, the door to the room slammed open again. Before anyone could react, he grabbed the woman’s head and snapped her neck in one swift motion. She crumpled to the floor like a marionette with cut strings. Tobias hefted her body onto his shoulder, “we will not speak of this. I will sort it”. He left Thorn and Amber alone in the room, slamming the door behind him. Amber sat heavily on the bed, placing her dagger on the dark wooden bedside table. Thorn sat beside her, shivering. “Hey thank you. I don’t know how the f**k you did that but I’d be dead if it weren’t for you” he said, staring at the ground. “I saw her tattoo when she was in the bathroom, fuckin’ hunter. I heard her mention you. We protect our customers here” Amber said. Thorn didn’t respond, Amber looked up at him to see he was shaking and had somehow gotten more pale. “Hey are you okay?” “Need. To. Feed” Thorn managed. “Oh s**t, um, we have some blood bags downstairs…Oh f**k it” Amber rolled up her sleeve and offered it to the vampire. Thorn looked into her eyes hesitantly, “are you sure?” “Yeah, may as well save your life twice in one night” Amber winked. Thorn smiled weakly, his fangs unsheathing from his gums. He looked at her one more time for reassurance before he dug his teeth into her skin. He groaned and drank hungrily. Amber didn’t usually let anyone feed from her, it wouldn’t be a good idea for random strangers to know her secret. She was hoping he was too out of it to notice how weird her blood tasted. Besides, she was too distracted by how f*****g good this felt. Vampire saliva had natural healing agents, but it could also act as an aphrodisiac. Amber was already attracted to Thorn, the man had charisma and a voice that could melt even her icy heart. She rocked her head back, closing her eyes. She breathed deeply and tried to focus on the woman who had attacked them tonight. It was sheer luck that Amber had even become aware of her, and now they knew their bar was being targeted; she'd need to make sure the staff were on high alert. Amber pulled her phone out and started typing out a message to the group chat. By the time she’d hit send, Thorn was finished. He licked the holes he’d made in her arm, watching as the skin knitted itself back together. “Thank you, I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name?” “Amber”.
