6. Doubts

She watched me with those doe eyes, and I saw tears starting building up in them. Damn it! I'm such a t**t for making a girl cry. But I need to stay smart here. Veronica and Vincent told me some pretty messed up s**t people were doing on their time in the Academy. There is a slight possibility that Iris is lying to me. But what if she's not? Ok Vic, play it cool, just don't do anything hasty.

"You are disappointed." - she stated, and I saw she was barely holding it together so I closed the distance between us and hugged her. So much for playing it cool. I patted her hair and waited for her to compose herself.

"Iris, you are 18 already, but I am not… you just took me by surprise. I wasn't expecting to find my Mate on my first day here, but it's great now that I think about it. You are great, everything I could have wanted my future Luna to be like."

She freed herself from my embrace and got on tiptoes and kissed me. I was surprised at first, but what the hell, one kiss doesn't mean anything, right? I responded to her touch and deepened the kiss. She was definitely a good kisser.

Now that I think about it, everything about Iris was perfect. She was beautiful, smart, sweet and I'm sure that whatever else I'll find out about her will be equally amazing. She was of Beta blood, so she carries strong genes.

She stopped my train of thought by placing a hand on my cheek.

"I'm sorry for taking you by surprise, but I was afraid that if you found out later you might get mad. I know you still can't feel the pull, but I also don't want to see you with other girls. I hope you understand."

Ok, a 'psycho fan' red flags started waving in my head. I have 50% of a chance that she either is my Mate or is insane. What should I do now? Change the subject! That's it!

"What about that Rob guy? You two seemed… close."

She was startled by my question, I think I touched the soft spot here.

"Yeah, about Rob, we were kind of dating last year, but nothing too serious. I was waiting for you and he was a perfect gentleman. But don't worry it's all over now. If you want I can never speak to him again." - she started blabbering. Too eagerly for my liking.

Maybe I should talk with Harry? They are roommates after all, she will tell me if Iris is a compulsive liar or not.

"We don't have to be this drastic. He seems like the person who isn't the best at making new acquaintances. But you do know that I still have four months till I'll be able to feel the bond, and to be honest I'm adamant about not rushing into things without that knowledge."

"Of course! As long as you're not rejecting me I can wait forever." - Ok, that was a good answer, the kind that a real Mate would give. This is tough! What should I do next?! An idea popped into my mind. If she wants it, why the hell not…

"Alright Iris. So what would you say if we start dating, like humans do. You know, dates, holding hands, spending time together and so on. Is this something that you would want?"

"YES!" - she yelled and threw herself back in my arms again. She was so happy that I couldn't help the chuckle escaping my lips. I wrapped my arms around her and swirled her around. If she's really my future Luna this is the moment we'll be telling stories about to our pups. If not there's no harm done. Right?!

I put her back on her feet and took her hand in mine.

"Lady Iris, let me escort you now to your room. I need to start preparations for our first proper date." - she started blushing, and I could help to admit again that she's the cutest little thing. She's gorgeous. She nodded shyly and we started walking back into the castle.

"Is there something you would want to do tomorrow?" - I asked her, cause let's face it I knew barely anything about her.

"Well Alpha Cargarough, I surprised you today, so how about you will repay the same tomorrow." - she said with a wink. That little temptress, it would be extremely hard to last another four months without mating with her. Damn it!

"Alright then. Prepare for everything, My Lady." - and she blushed even harder. Two can play that game, Babe.

We walked hand in hand and I must admit something felt extremely right about that. It's like Iris Lictorn is matching me perfectly. I know I'm not feeling s**t from my wolf towards her now, but even though it's nice.

Who knows maybe I'm one hell of a lucky Bastard who found his Mate, not even looking for her. Oh Vince would be so pissed. He has been moping about his Mate for quite some time. Even now he sometimes reproaches Chloe about the whole hiding from him drama. I could help the smirk that spread on my lips to that thought.

"You seem happy." - Iris noticed.

"Yeah. It's nice." - I pointed to our intervened hands.

"It sure is."

In no time we were in front of hers and Harriet's room. I brought her hand to my lips and kissed her knuckles. She blushed again. This will be fun to tease her.

"Good night, My Lady"

"Good night, Sir." - and she did a little curtsy bow. She gets my humour, that's great.

With that she turned around and went inside her room.

On my way up to my room I started thinking about my options. Nothing constructive came into my mind. And as much as I hate to admit it, I might need help from my big Sis. Nica had her fair share of some messed up situations here so maybe she will have some advice for me. I was going to call her either way so why not include her. Yeah that's settled!

But first another encounter with the hell twins. Just great!
