"Oh my God..." Mackenzie whispers as her feet carry her forward, her slow walks turning into jogs and then finally she begins running. Miles’ eye catches her first as he stares at her in shock before he taps Nate’s arm beside him and points forward. Nate’s eyes land on his Mate as she runs towards him, coming to a stop before he begins to jogging to her as well.
“Mackenzie…? Mackenzie!” He yells as he runs towards her.
“Nate! Miles!” Mackenzie screams as tears escape her eyes. She finally reaches him and as soon as she does, she jumps onto him and wraps her arms and legs around his torso, hugging him tightly as she sobs loudly on his shoulder.
“Nate…” She sobs as she refuses to let go of him.
“You’re alive… You’re alive…” He repeats as he feels tears escape his eyes and fall onto his cheeks.
"This can’t be real… I watched you die… h-he killed you… you can’t be real…” Mackenzie climbs off him before she places her hands on his face, feeling his soft skin underneath her fingertips.
“I’m real, my love, I’m right here… I’m here.” Nate holds her face and kisses her lips softly, resting his forehead against hers as she continues to sob.
“Nate… please don’t ever leave me again, please…” Mackenzie cries as she kisses him once more and wraps her arms tightly around his torso.
“I won’t. I’ll never again, I promise.” He responds and kisses her forehead, resting his head on the top of hers. She feels safe in his arms and finds herself never wanting to let him go again. The pain of watching him as well as the rest of her friends die right in front of her was too traumatic, it has damaged her and she will need time before she is finally okay again.
“Mackenzie…” She hears a voice say as she pulls away from Nate and looks behind him to see Miles and Andrea as well as the other approaching them slowly.
“Miles…” Mackenzie breathes out before she looks up at Nate as he gives her a nod of approval and slowly letting go of her. Mackenzie then turns to Miles and jogs up to him.
“Miles… I’m so sorry… I’m sorry…” She cries against his chest as he hugs her tightly and takes a deep breath, squeezing his eyes shut.
“Mackenzie, stop… please…” Miles says softly as she slowly pulls away and looks at Andrea who is also crying as well before she quickly wraps her arms around her fellow Lycan and hugs her tightly.
“Forgive me... please… I wasn’t able to save you… I wasn’t able to save any of you…” She sobs as she steps back and falls to the ground and cries. “Please forgive me…”
She feels a bunch of arms go around her, calming her down as she cries., Kaitlyn, Shannon, and Andrea are knelt down on the grass as they comfort her, speaking soft words to her as they try to comfort her.
“Mackenzie, please don’t blame yourself. This wasn’t your fault…” She hears Shannon say as they all stand up, helping her stand up as well.
"They are right, young Alpha…” The woman from earlier speaks up, watching up to the group.
They all stare at her weirdly as they turn to face her.
"Who's she?" Miles asks.
"I-I don't know..." Mackenzie replies, still looking at the woman as she continues to smile lovingly at all of them.
"Who are you? And can you please us where we are, how we got here and how we are all alive and well?" Brett questions as he frowns and holds Kaitlyn by his side.
"You still haven't figured it out yet have you?" She sighs and turns back the tree. "Even you Aeolus... You haven't either." She continues and begins to walk back to the tree, leaving them behind.
“Who's Aeolus-?” Miles questions but Ethan is quick to interrupt him as he steps forward and follows after the woman.
"H-how do you know my Wolf's name?" Ethan asks in confusion as the woman comes to a complete stop and slowly turns around to face them, her mouth partially open as a small smile plays on her full lips.
And that’s when Mackenzie begins to put the pieces together. Ethan is the fastest Sprinter in the Blue Light Crescent Pack and his Wolf's name is Aeolus... As far she is concerned, Aeolus is the god of speed and the winds in Greek and Viraanian mythology... Wait...
"No way..." Shannon trails off as she makes the connection. The woman in front of them raises her hands up and from nowhere, a bright light circulates around her, covering her entire body.
Mackenzie and the others place their hands over their faces to shield them from the blinding light, Mackenzie holding onto Nate as she winces quietly once she feels her eyes sting. After a few moments, the light finally dies down and there stands the woman from before... only differs is, she looks completely different...
She has completely transformed.
She has on a long-sleeved off the shoulder silver gown with beautiful, gold and silver embroidery around her neck. She has on a silver necklace in the shape of the moon and her skin appeared to be radiating. But her hair is what stood out to them the most. It is completely white, like snow, nothing they have ever seen before. It is long and falls onto her back, a small chain going around the crown of her head and that was woven through her with hair.
"My name is Selene. Daughter of the Titans Hyperion and Theia, Sister of Helios and Eos, Mother of Viraai, Protector of Lycanthrope... the goddess of the Moon." She spoke with such grace and nobility, placing her hands down in from of her as she smiles at them with perfectly white teeth, enough to blind you.
At the mention of her titles, Mackenzie slowly bends forward and gets down on one knee, her elbow resting on the knee that is up as she closes her eyes.
"Luna." Mackenzie lets out as she keeps her head down and bows before the goddess, speaking with the most respectful voice she could muster.
Everyone around her slowly mimics her acts as they too get down on their knees and bow before their creator.
"Luna...”
