After lunch, Sir Ferdinand entered our classroom. We will be voting for class officers. She is our homeroom adviser.
"Alright. Since the five transferees are here, I would like to introduce them here in advance so we can get to know them and come up with an idea. Maybe they can be one of the ones we can assign to our class officers,"
They introduced themselves.
Shasha Choi is the name of the woman with the eyes closed. Half Korean is flowing in its blood. Melody Fentelon is another woman. George Cruz and Tristan Moira are the two men.
"So ... let's start. Who's going to open the polls?"
Dashna raised her hand. Sir nodded and stood up in front of my friend.
"I declare that the nomination for our Class President is now open." Its a serious language.
Tony raised his hand.
"I nominate... Dashna Alicia Santos for our Class President." Tony and I were both smiling.
We know this is what our dear friend wants to do so we will push it.
"Anyone else?" asked Dashna.
"Nothing. Just close it!" I laughed softly. Then head to the desk.
"Yes, Miss..."
I was surprised by Dashna's words. It looks right now at the end.
"Hi, I'm Shasha Choi. I nominate Clark Vincent Romualdez as our class president." That woman immediately sat down. Clark glanced at me and he just stared at the blackboard with his serious face. Soon his eyes were on me again. I immediately avoided looking at him.
"Anyone else?"
"Let's close," Mikael shouted.
"Alright. Who's in favor of Dashna Alicia Santos?"
Since then, our whole class has known Dashna responsible and we raised our hands.
"42."
"How about Clark Vincent Romualdez?"
My classmates laughed. I do also grinned.
I almost laughed when they only raised four hands for Clark. He was just seriously looking at the board. Until his eyes reached me again. s**t! What the heck? It's embarrassing. Big time!
After a while. Dashna won as president and Clark was vice president. Me and one of the transferees admitted to the muse case that she didn't work. She had only four votes while I was a majority. Clark glanced at me. He smiled as he stared at me. My whole system is in disarray.
Gosh! What's wrong with me?
I don't know why he smiled at me. Just yesterday, he judged and fighting with me and now he just smiled.
I WAS RUNNING out of breath and went to the gymnasium of St. Francis Montessori High. I need to be there earlier than the call time because I'm their cheerleader. When I got into the, there were students signing up for the auditions.
I looked at every woman in the line. I just stopped looking when I saw the two transferees. They laughed as they talked but when they saw me looking at them, they became serious while staring at me.
"Zai, let's start?" asked Macy, one of my co-cheer dancers.
I just nodded and sat down in the middle of the third chair. Macy's is on my right and Thomas's on my left.
"Number 1?" I shouted.
Number 1 came in front of our table.
"Can you split up?"
She nodded.
"Can you dance? Is it okay for you to cut out some food so the boys can easily carry you?"
"Yes," said the nervous one.
I signaled that she would show us what she got.
Over time, many have shown their cheerful talents. There are some doubts and many are not really wise.
At last, the transferees who were to audition the next time I was suddenly taken aback.
There were only two of them. They are finally here.
"Let's hurry up and go home. It is almost 7 o'clock, Zai." Macy's nodded. The eyes are in two.
"Okay." I addressed them. "You may start."
They both looked at each other and walked away. The name Shasha went to my right and the one with Melody's name was to my left.
The two started arguing but honestly stopped each other.
The three of us looked at Thomas and Macy's. They hugged each other before smiling at the two.
I looked at the auditions one by one. It was eight o'clock in the morning and I gathered them to the covered court to see what they were capable of. We excused our first and second subjects because we really needed to find new members.
"What do you think, Zairene?" Macy asked me after performing them in front of me. Others are breathless and sweaty.
Again, I made them think.
"Alright. Before I tell anyone who got the spot, I just want to say thank you for trying so hard to be a part of the pep squad. Almost all are great but some really stand out." I smiled at them all. I can see how friendly they are. They couldn't even look into my eyes and just stoop down. "Okay... so, the names that I will mention are the ones that got the spot. After you hear your names, you can go back to your classes but at 5 o'clock, you should go to the Pink Room because they will give your uniforms. Do you understand? " I have a long speech.
"Yes," they said at once.
"Alright. So, here are the newest members of our team, Shasha Choi ... Melody Fentelon, Carla Domingo, Gretchen Yumol, Alexander Ty and Francisco Ramirez. That's all the names. So... see you all around, guys. Go back to your classes." I turned away when I said that. I made my way through the pink room.
"Ms. Mendez! Wait..." Sir Zandro called me, he is the varsity coach of our school.
I stopped walking and waited for him. I smiled as I gasped as I was caught. "Yes, sir?"
"I need you this coming Monday morning. We're going to have an audition for new players for our varsity team."
"Why me? I am just a cheer dancer, right?" I laughed slightly.
"Yes. I know. It's just that Miss Trina is not here. She is on maternity leave because her due is coming. She is often with me in the audition of players auditioning. Are you free? I mean, is it okay with you? Don't worry about your teachers. I can talk to them if you want to excuse you.
"Can't it be a hassle for me, sir? I'm also in charge of the pep squad."
"Yeah, yeah. I know about that. Don't worry. I can assure you that your schedule for the pep squad and your academic subjects will not be disturbed. What do you think?"
