Every time I see Maureen, I remember mommy's face as she bloody lay on the floor. I don't know how to get over it or forget.
"Baby, eat up. Daddy has something to tell us. Get out of there." Zoilo said outside my room.
I don't want to eat but unfortunately, my stomach hurts. I also knew that neither my sister nor I would let me out of my room. I quickly adjusted myself before going out and going to the dining area. I caught daddy, my loving brother and sister laughing. I don't know why and I don't have time to find out. I'll just eat and then go back to the room.
"Our youngest is here. It's okay, son. We're going to eat. Then daddy has a announcement for you." Daddy prayed quickly and then we ate.
"So, dad! Care to tell us what's your announcement?" Zoilo asked. His smile is wide. My sister and I were busy eating coffee crumble in our bowls.
Daddy stopped first and looked at us one by one.
"You know daddy's getting old, right?"
We nodded.
"Of course, I need someone with whom I can grow up. You know..."
My eyebrows rose. "What do you mean, dad?"
"Woah! You're getting married again?" He was amazed.
My eyes widened. "What?"
"Who is she, dad? We didn't hear you had a girlfriend. Showbiz? Actress?" Zaira asked.
Daddy laughed. He folded his hands and then laid them on the table. "It's eas,y kids. Just one question," he said with a laugh.
"Daddy, straight to the point, please? We're nervous about your laugh." My sister tried to trap me after she said that.
My forehead is wrinkled. I didn't feel good about what daddy was going to say. I can feel it.
"Okay... this coming Saturday night, I'll introduce you who's Clara."
"And who is she?" I asked.
"My girlfriend," he said with a smile.
"WHAT? IS YOUR dad serious?" Tony's kind questions grew up. It even hit the cement table in shock.
I told them about daddy's news last night. I am so frustrated.
"Yeah, I think so. And on Saturday, daddy will bring that Clara to our house!" I felt so betrayed.
"Hey, what's the problem? Why don't you want to?"
"Of course, I don't like that Clara. I have just one mommy. She'll never replace my mom!"
"Gosh! It's almost 8 years--"
"Seven years. Almost seven years, Dashna." I corrected her.
"Alright. So, your mommy is almost seven years dead. Why don't you let Tito Zac be happy? He still looks handsome!"
I just wiped her.
"Why should I allow him?"
"Of course, your daddy need someone to get along too!"
"But he have us! His children. We're here for him. He doesn't even have to look for mommy's replacement!"
"Don't be so selfish. Especially your daddy's getting hurt. Why don't you just accept it. You're going to have a new mommy! Exciting so much!"
My face widened. "Then what? Her dirty behavior will soon come out and when we realized that, she's my evil stepmom? No way!"
"You really are selfish, girl. You try to give people a second chance," said Tony.
"I don't want to meet that Clara. Whoever she is."
"Let's go and maybe we're late for our next class." Tony and Dashna grabbed me by the arm and shook my head as I slammed the two of them into the classroom.
WHEN TONY, Dashna and I got into the classroom, we got everyone's attention.
Dashna is the SSGC President and Tony is the Math Club President. Mikael, Damian and Isaac are also members of the school's varsity players.
I'm the cheerleader of the pep squad. I am not nice. Straight and bossy when my fellow cheer dancers describe me. I don't care. They didn't really know me because Tony and Dashna were my only friends.
"Hi, girl. Nice blush on you. Branded?" asked Tony to our classmate, Anna—who nodded, was surprised to learn the name. "Really? May I see?"
I had just flown into the best of my best friends. That's Tony. Friendly to others. I do not know.
"Zai, is it true that you need new cheer dancers?" asked Carla. One of our classmates.
"Yeah." I had no response while fixing my long hair. I combed it first before tying it up. "Why?"
"A-ah... we're going to audition, huh? Hope you can get us both. Me and Gretchen," she said.
"Okay. Good luck later at the audition." I also applied a small amount of lip gloss.
"Thank you, Zairene." She spoke fluently. I just looked at her and when she stopped and said goodbye.
Seven o'clock just yet our first subject teacher Mrs. Smith—our English Literature not is not yet here. It was noisy in our class room and I didn't have anything to say to them. Dashna and Tony were busy talking to our other classmates while I am just keeping myself busy surfing on my social media accounts.
I was distracted by such a task as I felt, the noise of my classmates gradually subsiding. It looks like an angel is passing by. I think of Dashna and look at her. She’s now looking seriously at the door of our classroom.
Two women who were both have white skin came in first but did not continue to walk. They stayed at the door. The two men followed. One is short and with a medium-sized body. He had thin lips and they are laughing with a man with long hair and have an earrings in one ear.
My chest exploded when the last man entered. My hands were cold, too. Why? I do not know.
I couldn't figure out why every time I saw him it seemed to break my heart. He seems to have a magnet and mine is iron. It hypnotizes my vision and the difficulty fades away.
Clark was looking at me now. I don't know how long it will take. I only realized when he raised an eyebrow at me.
I avoided thinking. I bent down and pretended to grab something in my bag. I don't know what's happening to me.
When I was sure his attention was gone, I turned to look at the five of them. The man whispered to Clark. His eyes fluttered at the end and as I followed that, they approached Maureen.
"Good morning, Diamond! I'm sorry if I'm late," Mrs. Smith as she entered our class room.
Fortunately she came. Maybe it'll take a little longer for my antique Clark to spend time.
