Chapter 43 - the cruel world and the beasts that live within it   I learned everything from Nauret. She was my mentor, my sister, my new mother, since the one that gave birth to me found it was no longer necessary to visit an omega son. She told me that there was 1 more prince who was also a prime omega, and two others from the nobility, but she never told me who they were, saying that it was a closely guarded secret. She also helped me in my studies and even urged my instructors to give me advanced subjects so that I may finish high school ahead of time. She had one warning for me, though. “Never. Never, ever tell another soul that you are a prime omega,” she told me. “It will cause you your downfall. I found it out the hard way, when I heard that the primes before us are now living like goddesses in paradise, holding the highest positions in government. What they didn’t tell me, is that in doing so, they have chained themselves to the United Arab Countries, where they shall be imprisoned in gilded cages for the rest of their lives.” “But, how could they even imprison us, when we’re like gods?” I asked her. “We are still human to other humans,” she told me. “Do you not notice that the guards here are all betas? We can not influence them as much as we do on alphas. We cannot go against their will.” “Is that why you refuse to leave here?” I asked her then. “Sadly.” She went to her wardrobe and took out a small book. It was a guidebook which showed different places all over the world. “It has always been my dream to travel the world since I was a small child,” she said. “I came from a poor family with a big household, I was never sent to school until I turned ten and turned out to be an omega.” “Did they take you here, then?” “Not at first,” her beautiful brows furrowed. “I was at home when I turned. It was a blessing that we had no alphas in the family, but when my father found out, he immediately sold me to a brothel and left me there without a single backward glance.” “That’s terrible!” Nauret touched my lips to silence me. “It was, and I no longer wish to remember my life there, but it was also there that I was able to discover my latent power... my abilities as a prime omega,” she continued, “I was then brought here as another student where they taught me hundreds of things that I never knew before... different cultures, different languages, fascinating places I could only see in books and in the internet... I met other omegas and two other primes as well, and now I have met you.” “And I thank the gods that I have met you as well.”   I placed my head on Nauret’s chest where I like to lay as she stroked my hair. I’m 15 now, three years have passed since I first came here. She had taught me more than just being a prime. She taught me things about my omega body as well. “They said that I can leave for America tomorrow,” I told her. Nauret was silent for a while. She then pushed me on the bed and went on top of me. “So, my little protegee is already leaving me?” she asked. “Do you have any regrets?” “No,” I answered. “None whatsoever.” “Will you not be lonely?” her hand trailed over my body. “I will be busy studying... I won’t have time to be lonely,” I answered honestly. “Will you miss me?” Her hands stopped. I looked up at her. At her beautiful face touched with sadness. “I’ll keep in touch with you,” I assured her. “There’s no reason to be lonely.” She smiled sadly at me. “That is true.” I thought she was about to get off me, when she held my wrists and grabbed my neck, pushing me against the bed. “Tonight will be our last night together then, tomorrow, you will be free... free to travel the world and meet other people.” Her hand tightened against my neck, choking me. “N-Nauret...” I gasped, “Y-you’re hurting me..!” “I have always been gentle with you,” she continued, not letting go, “I have only given you love, but tomorrow, you shall be exposed to the cruel world and the beasts that live within it.” Her hold on me got even tighter as she let go of my wrists, choking me with both hands. “Nau... ret... hurts...” “I know,” she said, “This is the pain you will feel, outside these walls. It will hurt so much that at times you would want to kill yourself... you would try to run and hide, but would find nowhere to go. Yet nothing out there will hurt more, than a love that could never be returned.” I scratched at her shoulders. My tears fall due to the pain. “This is not enough yet,” she said, tears filling her eyes as well. “You need to feel my pain more.” I felt my consciousness slowly fading away. I was about to pass out when she finally let me go. I gasped for breath, desperate to fill my lungs once more with sweet air. Nauret fell on her knees, crying, covering her face with her hands. I watched as her shoulders quivered. They are covered with my scratches, some of them even bled, but I knew she was crying about something else. Something, I’m afraid, I could never give her.   I left UACME the next day. Nauret didn’t even send me off. “You’re so lucky, Aahmes, it’s a good thing you’re smart!” said one of my fellow omegas. “Well, it comes from being a favorite of our mentors,” said another. “Thank you, I’m sure you can also go to university if you do your best,” I told them. “You’re really lucky, I wish I was as smart as you.” “Or, be a prime, like Professor Nauret!” said one of the new ones. “Yes, then you can work for the government and live like royalty for the rest of your life!” I simply smiled. Smile and hide our secret, until my ride came and sent me to my freedom.
