Chapter 30 – I Will Do Everything in My Power to Protect My Belongings     Just how astute do you need to be to make Prof. Antonio succumb to you? That is something I would like to find out for myself. All I wanted was to spend more time with him in the after party and show everyone that the professor is more than just a savage Neanderthal who never comes out of his cave. But then again, I guess I can not butt heads with someone as hardheaded as the professor. Besides, I know it would take more than just a free ride to make him change his ways so abruptly. “Doc, dito po tayo!” Peter called to me as I entered the dining area of the hotel. “Did the professor really leave?” his fiancé asked me, “There’s still so much I wanted to ask him...” “Is that so?” “Opo, doc, idol kasi ni Dona si Sir Eric,” said Peter, “Tuwang-tuwa nga s’ya dahil nakasama s’ya ngayon, eh.” “So, hijo, are you and doc Antonio really going out?” asked Pilar’s mother. “No, our relationship is purely professional. There is nothing more between us.” “You have no idea how glad I am to hear that,” said an unwelcome voice from behind me. I turned around to see Dr. Heathlow with a big smile on his face. “But not as glad as I am, seeing you without your bodyguard around,” he added. “He is not my bodyguard,” I told him, “If anything, I am more of his butler.” “I know. Must be hard, running around after an... impossible person such as Prof. Antonio.” “In what way is he impossible?” Dr. Heathlow chose not to answer. He simply handed me a wine goblet and smiled dashingly at me. “Why don’t you join me for a while, Dr. Abdel, let me introduce you to some of my friends in the pharmaceutical industry, I’m sure they would be delighted to meet the famous doctor from the UACME.” “Gladly.” I took the goblet in one hand, and his arm in the other, as we made our way to the middle of the dinning hall to meet his acquaintances. “Dr. Abdel!” Pedro called to me, worried. “I will be right back.” I assured him. “Ah, you don’t know how honored I am that you have accepted my invitation,” he said, “perhaps I can extend this invitation to matters concerning our work as well?” “What do you mean, Dr. Heathlow?” I asked him. “I fear that you are... not able to use your talents to the fullest at the omega division. Perhaps, I could invite you to join our team instead?” he grinned at me. “If I remember correctly, there are no omegas in your division.” “Ahh, but that is simply because we have never met an omega as intelligent, as talented, and as beautiful as you are.” I stare at him and smile. His slightly faded. “I beg your pardon, but I am well content, working under Prof. Antonio.” “Ah, I guess it is true then that the professor has got a tight hold on you,” he said as he led me away. “May I dare say, that he’s treating you like a slave?” “A slave?” I asked. “Is that how people in your department perceive it?” “Is it not true? You go where ever he goes and does whatever he tells you to. If I don’t know any better, I say he treats you like his possession,” he smirked. “As if a mere beta could keep a high class omega like you.” “And what if he does?” I asked, nonchalantly. Dr. Heathlow’s smirk disappeared. “It’s not normal,” he said, trying to keep his composure. “it is... such a waste to let a `beta’ keep such an exquisite omega like yourself for his own amusement, when you can mate with someone more befitting of your status, such as myself.” I stare at him. I do not know where his arrogance is stemming out from, but then again, he is an alpha, and a dominant at that. I let go of his arm and noticed that he had led me outside to the balcony, far from the main dining hall and the rest of the guests. I look at him again. “Do you really think that I would choose you when I already have the Professor?” I asked him. “Actually, all I can think of is what Eric is holding against you. I see no other reason why you would stay with him, otherwise.” “What makes you think that he’s got something against me?” I asked again. “Just because I chose him over of you, you automatically conclude that I am being held against my will?” He was about to open his mouth once more, but I raised a finger to stop him. “You seem to have misunderstood something, Dr. Heathlow.” I told him, “I do not belong to the professor. I am not his slave. Slaves are not given anything in exchange of their servitude, while I, on the other hand, have everything to gain as I stay by the professor’s side. I am the one benefitting from him. I am the one who wants him. You see, I do not belong to the professor,” I repeated, “it is the professor who belongs to me. And I will do everything in my power to protect my belongings.” He stared at me then, surprised, then composed himself and smirked once more. “The question is,” he sneered, suddenly releasing his disgusting pheromones. “who’s going to protect you?”   He grabbed my arm. The untouched goblet fell and shattered on the ground. I tried to push back, but he was much stronger, and I could not use my pheromones on him freely. “This would have been much easier if you just drank your wine,” he said, looking at the broken glass on the floor. “But I guess a simple `heat attack’ is enough for an excuse.” He reached down and grabbed my hips. I twist away in revolt. “Besides, you omegas can’t help but lift your ass whenever an alpha is around,” he chided me, “especially when it’s a dominant like me!” He pulled me down the stairs, towards the garden. I knew I had to do something then. I was about to release my superior omega pheromones, when something spinning suddenly struck Dr. Heathlow’s head, sending him sprawling to the ground. It was a bottle of wine. “Aahmes!” I looked up and saw Prof. Antonio, rushing down the balcony towards me. “What are you doing here?” I asked him. “Pu – anong `what are you doing here’?! Ayan nga’t dadalhin ka na ni Hitler kung saan, tapos ako pa tatanungin mo nang `what are you doing here’?! O, `wag mo’ng sabihin na consensual `yun?! Desperado ka na ba at pati `yang tarantadong `yan papatusin mo na?! Ano? Nakaistorbo ba `ko sa inyo? Ha?! Putang ina!!!” “Professor, you are shivering...” I held his hand which he pulled away. He was also sweating profusely and breathing heavily. “Are you having a panic attack?” “Tarantado ka kasi!” he looked around the area, as if in search of something. “K-kailangan nating umalis dito!” “It is okay, Hitler is down now,” I assured him, holding his hand. He was shaking terribly. “K-kailangan nating umalis! Darating na sila...!” he started pulling at me, then pushed when I refused to budge. “Who’s coming?” I asked him, holding his shoulders. “A-ang mga alpha!” he yelled at me. “`Di mo ba nakita?! M-muntik ka na n’yang gahasain! Kailangan nating umalis dito!” “Hoy! Anong nangyayari d’yan?” called a voice from the balcony. Prof. Antonio literally jumped and tried to pull at me again. This time, I let him lead me away.
