Chapter 20

1103 Words
The skin is battered and my emotions are weeping behind the anger, the righteous demands of my true self for dignity... but my soul is the same as it was when I was a young child. Your skin is perfect other than the bruising on your knuckles and behind your anger is weeping too, though so buried you aren't aware of its true source. And your soul is a child too, still perfect and in there somewhere. Yet you are choosing to act in such monstrous ways that you are building the brain of a monster... But what happened next was something that Nathaniel had not expected in world beyond his wildest dreams. There was an auburn haired siren standing in front of him watching him with a slight smile playing on his lips and then he realized that it was the same one from the beach today morning. “Well fancy finding you here,” she said as she came closer. She had pulled back her hair in a pony-tail and there were a few errant curls which were coming on her fore-head. She was without any kind of make-up and still she looked so beautiful that it was almost out-worldly. She was wearing a black and grey tank-top and a dark track pants. It was clear that she was here for a work-out. “I did not know that we went to the same gym,” said Nathaniel as he smiled and looked at her. In a moment all the darkness that had been covering him like a shroud went away and as if the sun came up. “If I had known then I might have joined earlier. But I usually come here at night so that I don’t run across my patients. What is your excuse?” asked the woman named Cassandra. “Well today morning that thing that I told that I had with my family…to be honest it did not go very well. And I became very agitated, at this point of time I am not allowed to get into brawls like I used to do when I was younger so I came to get rid off some of that extra energy,” said Nathaniel and then he said,” You said to avoid patients…so are you a doctor?” “Yeah…you can say that. Although I am not the kind who looks after the physical health. I am psychiatrist and a practicing counsellor,” said Cassandra as Nathaniel’s eyes went absolutely wide. “Wow. So Dr. Cassandra what is the thing that brings you here now? Because it is late at night and I am thinking that you might not be a regular here,” said Nathaniel with a teasing smile. “Please call me Cass. No one calls me that except my patients and I am sure that you are not one of mine,” said Cassandra as she parried with another teasing smile of her own. “You never know…with a doctor this beautiful and the one who can read you like an open book, who knows I might book a few sessions with you,” said Nat as he grinned again and Cassandra laughed out loud. Her laughter echoed in the entire space. And she suddenly covered her mouth with her hand and said slowly,” I did not know that it was going to be so loud.” “No problem. No one is going to report you for laughing out loud. After all who is going to see us here now?” Nat raised a brow as he said this. “That is besides the point. To answer your earlier question, I also had a very bad date. I mean, not that it was a date in the first place, it was rather a meeting with a person whom I am not very fond of. So it did not go well as expected and then you can very well imagine the dissatisfaction that would be coursing through your system,” said Cass and Nathaniel nodded understandingly. “Seeing it that it has gone badly for the both of us I think I should have taken you up on your offer today morning. Maybe then we would not have to come to gym at the night to get rid of our frustration,” said Nathaniel and Cass smiled at him. “I think you might be right. How would you like to fight me for a bout?” asked Cass as Nat did a double take. “I did not know that you meant getting in the ring as a first date. Is that what you do with all the men you meet woman?” he asked in a playful tone and Cassandra slapped his arm. “No, I am just out of practice and Your kicks and punches seemed to be quite good. So I thought when we are here already then might as well practice for some time. After all it is the fantasy of almost every woman to get a man they like in the ring in order to test their stamina. I am getting that and it is too good to be true. So I am not going to let go off this marvelous opportunity at all,” said Cass and Nathaniel smiled. “Whatever the lady wishes, she gets,” said Nathaniel as they both geared up and then covered their fists before getting in the ring. “Should we not have a referee?” asked Cass as they both went to their respective corners before coming to the middle of the ring. “I thought this was supposed to be a friendly fight in order to help you get back in form since you were impressed by my skills. I did not know that we would be needing a referee?” asked Nathaniel as they both slapped their gloves and smiled. “Why pretty boy? Scared that I am going to damage your beautiful face?” asked Cassandra as she smirked. “I have no idea if I should be impressed that you just gave me a compliment or I should be offended that you called me both pretty and beautiful in the same sentence. Honestly, I am hearing that for the first time in my life,” said Nat as they both started circling each other. “A lot of things happen first time in life. Just like getting beaten up by a girl,” said Cass as she struck her first blow.
