Chapter EightThere were less of us when we returned to Lochindorb Castle. Some had died in battle or had been killed by vengeful Moraymen in the countryside. Others had simply returned home with their loot, but the hard core, Alistair's Bodyguard, the gallowglass, the confederation of Clan Chattan and the household caterans, remained to march through the smoking countryside and onto the Moor of Dava. Lochindorb Castle welcomed us with the skirl of pipes and a host of cheering women, carried especially from Ruthven for the occasion. Alistair and the Bodyguard were first to cross in the boat, then the Gallowglass and lastly a score or so of caterans and the few prisoners we had brought. Some would be held for ransom, others were women to be trained for sport, and a few simply for curiositie
