Aurora and Liam Grimjaw grew up in a rigid, toxic pack with their parents, the pack leaders, who constantly pitted them against one another to live up to their reputation and provide entertainment for their pleasure.

Aurora tries multiple times to defeat Liam in combat, but she always fails when it comes to shapeshifting, controlling the elements, and using the clan's talents against Liam.

This devastated her, and she realized she would never be as powerful as him.

However, when the moon goddess ordained her and Liam Grimjaw as fated mates.

Their parents went berserk because in the last hundred years, fated mates were extinct in the clan.

Will the pack let Aurora and Liam Grimjaw be separated from being fated mates?

THE OLD KING.
Every cloud has a silver lining. Or so I thought. I’ve lived my life hanging on those words, clinging to some vague sense of hope. Sometimes…I…I wish I had accepted the reality of the clan. I wish I had known the entire truth. If I hadn’t dwelled on my built up fantasy and the love I had for him, I would have noticed something was wrong with him. I would have known about it all. His loneliness. His darkness. His sadness. His trauma. His grieving soul and his unstable heart. I would have noticed it all if I was sensitive enough and not taken in by his beautiful fake smile and laughter. I would have saved him and done the best I could. If I had accepted reality from the start with no expectations. If I hadn’t been selfish with you. Maybe, just maybe, our life would have differed from the start. I would have been everything you wanted me to be if I had reached deeper into your heart. If only I had chased after you when you needed me the most and held your icy hand as we both walked along the rocky road filled with vultures feasting on rotten dead bodies. If I had stayed close to you, I would have known the unbearable pain and sorrow you were going through. Then, we wouldn’t have destroyed ourselves. I truly love you, but you never gave me the chance to show you how I truly felt about you. You were my one and only mate. You were everything to me. My first love, my heart and my soul. You were the only alpha I had. Whoever wanted me or wished to marry me. You were the only one my gaze focused on, standing in the middle of 10 thousand werewolves and Gammas. You saved me from myself a thousand times and always took the blow for me not to get hurt. Just—was this meant to be Liam? Luca? How could I not love you? If I were ever born again in my next life, I would choose you repeatedly. Because—you are my shining star. The Obsidian Howlers clan and territories were crumbling under the leadership of the old Alpha King. Following the terrible murder of his firstborn son in cold blood, my grandfather, the Alpha King, was to choose a successor from among his other sons. During his mourning time and in a devastated state, he chose my father to be his heir after his demise. Nobody realized what a cold-blooded monster my father was. My grandfather desired peace within the clan and thought he was the right one for the throne among his brothers. Unknowingly to him, a rebellion was being planned out for my father not to take the throne by his other sons. As soon as he died, a bloody war broke out, and my father, the last born of my grandfather’s six sons, slaughtered all of his brothers and seized the crown, but only one survived. He pledged his loyalty to my father, surrendered himself to my father and bowed before him, begging him to spare his life. And he was Alpha Aiden, the second son of the late Alpha King. My father accepted and wielded a massive fist over the populace and did whatever he pleased. As the years went by, my father’s true nature surfaced. Everyone called him 'The horrible tyrant' and a cold-hearted beast. Yet, my father ruled the people of the Obsidian Howlers pack by using the powers of the clan and the moon to dominate them. He became the most powerful Alpha, the talk of the clan by overpowering other clans who fought against him and turned them to his slaves. My father did whatever pleased him and no one went against him. My name is Aurora Grimjaw. I’m an Omega, the princess of the Obsidian Howlers pack. I am 14 years old. I was born as the first daughter of the Alpha King after my two brothers were born. And Liam Grimjaw was the third alpha of Prince Aiden, my uncle, after birthing two sons. Liam is my cousin, my uncle’s son. We were the same age. Born at the same time and at the same month. And we look so much alike. We were identical. But in personalities, we differed totally from each other. Liam was the cool type, and I was the nosy one. The clan often spread rumors between themselves about us being twins and born from the same parents and how we almost look so much alike, despite us being birthed by different parents. I often wondered why we look so much alike when we have different parents. And we were also the topic of the Pack’s gossip. My father valued and praised my cousin more than I, because I am an Omega. He scorned me at every given chance he got to make me feel worthless. He would use us as his pawns to play his stupid games and pitted us against each other every day to always remind me that as an Omega I deserved to be belittled by alphas and succumb at their feet. I was his shame and disgrace. And because of my gender identity, and how I wasn’t like the rest of the family, he hated me. Once Liam and I were standing opposite each other in front of a large crowd cheering us on with my father sipping his wine to watch how I would cowardly fail in front of my elder brothers so he could scorn me. I always lose the fight before it even begins by surrendering to Liam because I know how powerful Liam was. I would bow down and beg Liam for mercy. The crowd will roll in laughter and throw stuff at me. I didn’t know how to fight. I can’t shapeshift and I wasn’t as powerful and famous as Liam. Why start a losing fight? But the truth be told, Liam had no intentions of fighting with me. His compassionate gesture and generosity were heart-warming. His sweet smile always melts my heart when he bends down to hold my hand. And the more people and my father wanted to pit us against each other, the closer Liam and I became. He would then drag me along with him after surrendering to him on the battlefield and run to the beach with the water splashing at our feet and screaming with excitement and laughter. He always tries to cheer me up and he was pretty good at it. He would clinch my hand, wipe off my tears with his other hand and kiss my forehead just to console me and make me forget about my problems. We were inseparable. Liam, who was in his black luxurious body hug, long sleeve, dark green trousers and long black boots with his overcoat laying by his side in the soft grass, was busy staring at the flowers. He was softly tending to the roses with his white hand glove on when I walked up to him after raising up my luxurious blueish gown off my shoes from stepping on its edge so I wouldn’t fall on my face.
