The door opened and both Dr. Masters came out of the room with small smiles on their faces and I have never been more relieved in my entire life. They came over to where we were sitting and stood in front of us, waiting for us to catch our breath because we both were holding it in the entire time they were in there.
“I’m assuming she’s okay?” I asked looking up at them, “I mean…she died…right in front of us but you're here, smiling, so that could only mean good news, right?”
“She had sudden cardiac arrest due to irregularities in her heart rhythm. We were able to reset her heart rhythm with the defibrillator and she’s stable right now. She will need to be here for a bit so it can be monitored.”
“Can we go back in?” June asked wiping away the tears from her eyes.
