Chapter 33: Meet Up with the Temporary Ally

Russell checked his phone again. Isn’t he supposed to receive a message from her around this time? It’s been already what? Months, right? He even stopped himself several times on contacting her first just because he has to in order to succeed on his plan. But why is it like this? “Does she really not miss me? At all?” Russell frustratingly asked himself. Pissed enough, he took out the book he carefully hid on his drawer and threw it out on the trash beside his table. “Why did I even believe that book?! Damn it!” Russell picked up his phone and dialed a number. The moment the call was answered, he immediately cursed. “You punk! I’ll get back on you on this when I come back! You’re not getting away with this, I swear! I’ve just wasted my time away instead of being beside her! Tips your face! Imma prick your face with the “tips” of my punch you jerk! Just so you wait!” After that curse one after the other, Russell immediately hung up, not letting the person from the other line to speak. He is already pissed enough as that person just chuckled on his frustration. He surely will punch the man when he sees him. Russell pressed the intercom. “Book me the soonest ticket back to the Philippines tonight.” He ordered his secretary.   --- Tanya’s I clapped my hands along as the kids was happily singing on top of a mini stage that the Sisters prepared. Today is the Convent Orphanage of Sisters of Mary’s foundation anniversary and the Sisters, including the kids, invited me over to celebrate this event just like the usual. They are now on their finale performance and it’s now almost over. I gave them a huge clap after their performance and the kids ran towards me to give me a hug in return. I feel so happy to be loved by these kids. I even felt Riley’s presence along with them. It saddens me but gives me comfort at the same time. “That’s enough kids. Sister Tanya and I needs to talk about something first, okay? You can go to Sister Misha over there and she will give you your snacks.” The kids quickly ran away after hearing the word “snack”, leaving me behind. I chuckled. After the Mother Superior successfully wooed the kids away from me, she reached for my resting right hand and held it with both of her hands. “Thank you so much Tanya for looking over these kids. I know that we’ve been thanking you for years now but I feel like it’s never enough for all the things you’ve done for this humble orphanage. You’re really an angel that God sent to us. And thus, I really wish that this angel of ours, will soon overcome whatever her troubles are. Soon.” The Mother Superior hugged me after saying that and left, leaving me in an awe. “Why are you crying Miss?” I suddenly heard Morty’s question beside me. I touched my cheeks and it’s really wet. I’m really crying! I shook my head. “I don’t know.” I blankly replied. Morty looked more worried. “Is this because of what the Mother Superior has told you? What did she say, then?” He asked, close to panic. “She just thanked me.” Morty’s expression calmed down hearing that. He then took out his handkerchief and handed it to me. “I guess my good news will no longer tear you up in happiness, Miss.” He said. That snapped me myself out. “Wait, are you referring to…?” Morty proudly smiled and nodded. “Yes. He’s already waiting for us.”   --- Silence. The room was so silent that only Haru’s movements on his laptop is the only sound echoing inside. “Are we supposed to finish talking about “our plan” when we’re all so silent?” The man named Greg Williams was the first to break out the silence. “You managed to convince us to join hands with your chivalry, then what?” He asked. I didn’t know that this guy would be this annoying. “We did not convince you, you owed us that. You mistakenly sniped someone, right?” It was Sasaki. She’s really short-tempered. I saw Opal silently calming her beside her. “Sshh. Keep your temper down, Sa. They’re CIA’s. C.I.A.” Opal reminded. The man with Greg Williams spokes up. “Technically speaking, it is only I who’s part of the CIA. Williams here is not “totally” part of the organization for now. What was it called again? Right! An intern! He’s an intern.” “The hell? Your bosses forced me!” “Shut it, Williams.” The man told off Greg Williams. And surprisingly, the latter really did shut up. The man looked at Monty who’s standing behind me. “Is it her?” He asked. Monty prolly nodded since the man switched his gaze on me. “I’m Aryan Ahuja. And unfortunately, I’m the personnel in charge of this man.” He said and pointed to Greg Williams beside him. “I can’t go into more details but this “intern” right here is in charge of Samantha De Dios’ case here in Philippines. That’s all I can tell. And just to add. Our superiors don’t know about this agreement. I just agreed to join hands with you people since it’ll make our operations go smoothly. I badly need to finish this assignment as soon as possible.” I nodded after him. “The name’s Tanya. And no matter the reason, I still thank you for agreeing. But you can’t also blame me if I feel bitter towards your “intern”. He shot a family member of mine. Mistakenly.” I said, emphasizing the last word to Greg Williams. The man just looked away from me. “I know. And we both agreed to settle it with this arrangement. I hope you won’t forget that, Tanya.” I sighed. This man named Aryan is right. “I will do my best.” I said and offered a handshake to both Aryan Ahuja and Greg Williams. And after that, we all discussed the plan for our first joint operation with the CIA people.
