Tanya’s
“I’m sorry Miss Tanya. I’m really sorry…” Opal told me crying, head-down, while her hands tightly gripping the sheets.
We are currently inside a small room of our mini hospital built beside our headquarters’ main office. Opal just woke up and everyone immediately gathered around to check on her. And looks like she’s burdened on what happened.
I tapped her balled fists to make her look at me.
“I have quite an idea on what you’re apologizing for, that’s why I am telling you this in advance, O.” I paused to wipe her tears. “It’s not your fault that you got shot, okay? I am not blaming you. No one is.”
“B-but-”
“It’s should be me, who needs to apologize. Not you.” I cut her off.
Hearing this, Opal’s eyes widened and immediately waved her hand around. “What? No Miss! No. It is not your-”
“Then let’s stop blaming ourselves.” I said, cutting her words one more time.
Opal stayed silent so I gave Gilbert a signal, and as brilliant as the old man is already was, he understood my message and butted in. “That sounds fair.” He meaningfully said.
Opal looked at Gilbert then back at me. She still looked troubled but then eventually nodded in defeat. I smiled. “Get some more rest, then.” I told her as I stood.
When we’re about to leave the room, Ruby offered to stay and be Opal’s helping hand since the latter can’t move around still. I agreed to this and left, together with the rest.
We then moved to the room next door, the Iskudo’s conference room.
“Have you found who he is?” I asked, directed to Haru, the moment everyone was settled in. Haru’s fingers moved speedily around his laptop and seconds later, the projector lit up and flashed something on the whiteboard in front.
My brows creased the moment I realized what it was. It’s a photograph of someone that I bet everyone could recognize.
“Isn’t that Dr. Mar- no, Greg Williams? The CIA’s dog?” Sasaki spoke everyone’s question in mind.
Haru nodded to her. “Yes. It is indeed Greg Williams of the CIA’s. The scar that Sister Tanya noticed on his ankle last time made it easy for me to find out. Glad that we already obtained an information about him beforehand.” Haru said while pointing the scars of that Williams’ ankle from the video we captured earlier then compared it to the photos we stole from the CIA’s intel. It’s really identical.
I balled my fist. Why did he shoot Opal? Don’t we have the same enemy? Can’t this CIA’s recognize who’s who?
“Maybe he’s targeting us?”
I sighed, after hearing that. I eagerly want to agree with Haru’s assumption but I am pretty sure that’s not the case. “I don’t think so.” So, I objected immediately.
“Us, too. We agree to the Miss.” The brothers seconded me, making the reason I have in mind to come close to being the truth. And I hated it.
I nodded to the twins. “He is not targeting us, and if the twins believed so as well. Then I am sure of it now.” I said and walked to stand in front. “I believe that he is just aware that there’s a group of people out there who have the same prey as his. And that’s us. So, in line with that reasoning, there’s a huge possibility that he just mistook Opal to be of the enemy’s.” I sighed.
“And I know that it was just an honest mistake, but still…” I paused. I don’t know what exactly to do. We are vigilantes. Though we are doing this for justice, we are still not following the ways of law. And CIA is one of the biggest laws out there. This is no joke.
“But still, he needs to apologize. Right Miss?” Gilbert continued my sentence with the exact same thing I had in mind. I nodded since he’s right. However…
“The Miss can’t do that.”
Right. Morty’s right. We can’t go after this man even though Opal was hurt. Involving with the CIA’s would make our years of preparation go on vain in a blink. And I can’t let that happen.
“Why?” But Sapphire asked away as she is completely lost.
“CIA’s are tied with the international law Saph. And we are not. However, we are launching operations like we are, right? Intentions aside, what we’re doing is completely illegal on their end. If we get involved with this man, we might give in our identities. And the Miss can’t let that happen.”
Morty’s simple yet on point explanation finally cleared the questions everyone had in mind.
“The enemy of an enemy is a temporary ally.”
But amidst the silence that came after Morty’s explanation, Sasaki suddenly quoted something out. I looked at her. We all did.
She continued to speak. “Me and Haru grew up with our grandpa back in Japan. And he always told us that phrase. I thought it was unique but later on realized that it’s a common strategy in war. And we are in a war, right Miss?”
I fell into a deep thought. Sasaki’s right. If we are targeting the same person, then it would be better if we and that Greg Williams will join hand in hand. But how do we convince him to agree?
“Let us do it Miss.” Morty suddenly announced. “The four of us is already enough to convince Mr. Williams.” He continued, not sure which one he’s referring to. But since Morty seemed to be confident about it. I nodded and let him.

“Are you sure?”
“Yes President. The video footage we bought was from the building itself.” Alex answered with certainty.
“Really?” Samantha chuckled deviously. She slowly sat back to her chair and smirked.
She can’t help but be amused to the unexpected report she just received. She looked at her right-hand man. “I see. Well, isn’t this interesting Alex?” She asked.
Alex moved his head with Samantha’s question. He is not getting why the President seemed to be amused rather than be furious, like she usually does and in which he prepared himself to.
“Are you not mad, President?” Alex was hesitant but still dared to ask only to receive a deadly glare in return. He should have kept his curiosity with himself.
“Mad? No. I am furious. So furious that I feel like killing someone as dumb as you.” Samantha said in gritted teeth, stealing the strength from Alex’s knees right away. He felt like he died for a second right there.
But Samantha smiled after, making Alex doubt his eyes.
“But to answer your dumb question, I am not just furious. I am actually delighted at the same time. Because it seems like there’s more to your conclusion. It’s too plain. Mine was better. And accurate.”
Instead of getting an answer, Alex was even more confused. But he dared not show it in his expression nor asked further question. He already learned his lesson earlier.
Samantha knew that her right-hand man did not understood what she meant so she just asked the video from him and dismissed the dumb guy right away.
She watched the clip alone on her laptop. She paused the video as she noticed something. She zoomed in and stared at the screen for a while. Then slowly, a cunningly smile formed on her lips. Seems like she’s on point on this.
She leaned on her chair while her eyes still darted at the stilled screen. “What are you doing there looking so serious, Mr. Former FBI? And to whom are you talking to? The former boss or the new?”
She asked to the paused video of Morty.
