“How was your clean-up, Alex?"
A chilling cold-voice asked after Alex answered his office phone. It has already been a month since their package lost and two weeks manning up the Gasque's glass-walled mansion, waiting for a chance to assassinate the package. Yet, they still can't. Aside from the fact that the girl rarely goes out, whenever she does, she is always accompanied by Tanya Gasque and her two able bodyguards.
Alex swallowed a bulk of saliva first before answering. He knows that the President doesn't accept excuses. Never. “S-still negative President. The package is still in loose."
Alex closed his eyes. He knows that this was a terrible news that's why he's so glad that this is just a phone call and not in person. Or else, a hole in the arms and thigh would be the least of the worst he could get.
A 15 seconds of silence were given to him as a response, in which gave him a mild heart attack. "Is that woman someone to be wary of, Alex? She's just a plain businesswoman, isn't she?"
The coldness of their President's tone made Alex shiver. "S-she is President, but her bodyguards are not too simple. Apparently, lots of hired assassins fear them as well as our m-men." Alex nervously replied.
"Hmmm?"
"B-but we will do our best to find an opening." Alex promised. He still wants to live.
"Three days."
The President simply said and he immediately understood. He is given a three-day deadline. He needs to finish the job within those three days or else he'll be kissing the hell, hello.
"Got it. We will proceed as planned. President Samantha." Alex confidently replied.
Tanya stared at the unfamiliar expression Samantha has on her face. Is this really that sweet and caring Samantha she knows? She refuses to believe that.
“f**k that b***h! How can she mess up with my business like this all the time? Damn it! I so wanna kill her right now!” Samantha yelled in frustration again.
Tanya’s heart ached. This is not Samantha, right? She can’t be her friend Samantha.
“Will you calm down Sam? Jeez. You're always so hot-headed.”
A voice from behind suddenly echoed. The sea of people divided and let that person walk in the middle until it reaches Samantha in the center.
Tanya knew that voice. She recognizes it yet she still can't process it until she finally saw who owns it. Tanya froze on her legs once again. Is that really…?
‘Mr. Tan?’
“Shut up." Samantha glared at Mr. Tan. " But I'm glad you’re here. I already killed Lando’s remaining men. I just hate the fact that this i***t is too demanding on getting his useless boss out. It’s their freaking fault! How could they even be defeated with a single woman in the first place? What a bunch of p*****s!”
“Relax. Tsk.” Mr. Tan tapped Samantha’s left shoulder. Then he turned to the men in front of the dead body. “And you idiots? Why are you still not cleaning this up? The blood is all over the place. Hurry and clean this up!”
Tanya wanted to but could no longer hear what Samantha and Mr. Tan talked after that. Her mind just went blank after these two bombs simultaneously thrown at her. It just can’t fathom the fact that the very two people she looked up to and treated like a family are actually betraying her behind her back.
They’re just using her!
Tanya’s legs failed her and collapsed. Luckily, she was already brought back to her room and her butt touched her bed before it could hit the hard ground.
Tanya felt something on her cheeks so she touched it. It’s wet. Aren’t these tears? That's when she realized that she was already crying without her notice. Realization finally hits her. She slowly crouched and grabbed her chest. Her heart was throbbing so bad that she wept like a kid.
“Why guardian? Why?” Tanya asked between her tears.
The guardian appeared upon that question. “I apologize dear Tanya. But thy self can provide no answer for thy question.” The guardian sadly replied.
Hearing that, Tanya can't help but question herself instead. Where did she went wrong? Why?
And as she wept that entire night, the guardian stayed behind to share her pain.
Riley looked at Gilbert on her side and the others behind her. They are all outside Tanya’s room and is waiting for Riley to knock. It’s already been a week since Tanya shut herself out inside her room. She even cancelled her company schedules without giving a reason. A lot of people complained but no one dared to disobey.
Knock knock.
Riley finally knocked after a few hesitations and encouragements. “S-sister Tanya? I have your breakfast. Can I come in?” Riley asked in a loud voice.
Everyone was silently anticipating Tanya’s reply together. They are all so worried. They’re master has never acted this way ever since. This is the first time so no one has any idea on what to do.
It took almost 2 minutes before they could hear rustling sound from the inside. Shortly after, the door creaked open and Tanya showed up. Their master gave them a thin smile. “No need for breakfast in bed.” Tanya told Riley. “As it happens that I’m also on my way downstairs to eat it with the rest of you.” She announced, directed to the people behind Riley.
Gilbert and the rest looked at each other and smiled. Some even got teary-eyed. They have been so worried and anxious for a week.
“Sorry for giving you guys a hard time.” Tanya spoke again while heading downstairs, catching everyone’s attention. “And also, thank you for worrying about me. I’m now good. Though I can’t tell you what happened, I still wish for you to understand.”
“No need to apologize Miss Tanya. It is our job to serve you and not to meddle with your life. We are just so glad to see you doing fine now. That’s all that matters to us.” Gilbert said, making everyone nod in agreement.
“Look. You are not just merely my servants and household companions. You are my family, Gilbert, Monty, Morty, Pearl, Sapphire, Ruby, Opal and Riley.” Tanya called out each one of them. She smiled. “We are a family. I hope you all remember that.” She repeated.
Everyone smiled in response.
“Of course, Miss Tanya.”
“Of course, Sister Tanya.”
They said in unison.
