Chapter 4 : The Esteemed Royal Highness

If Primrose knew what kind of fear she managed to plant in Helena's heart, she wouldn't hesitate to throw a party on the spot. She was still bathing in the spring sun and smiling in satisfaction on the way out. "Miss, were are you going?" A man approached Primrose before she could get past the front gate that stood tall. "Why?" Her vigilance was high. The middle aged man chuckled without a trace of harm. He thought Primrose was probably joking. "I will drive you wherever you want." Primrose belatedly realised that this family also had a few drivers. She didn't show embarassment on her face and got into that car, giving an address. The driver was shocked, "T-Thats the royal ground.." Primrose nodded, "I know. Drive there." Primrose wasn't going to explain it to everyone that she was now married to Cassius Halvad. It was already a feat worth celebrating that she was still alive and kicking after that night at the banquet.. let alone married him. Chin in hand, she stared out the window. It was the first time she truly was able to look at the setting of this world. She couldn't stress enough how relieved she was to see that most of the things were similar to her own world. Mobile phones were still operable, transport was the same and so was most of the things in modern society. The only change being that humans were able to shift into brings that were meant to roam the woods. Due to that slight difference, the earth was covered in a large amount of greenery. Creepy woods were everywhere for people to shift. It was a common sight to catch wolves here and there from time to time. However, strict rules were also implimented. People couldn't shift just whenever they wanted and wherever they wanted. Primrose smiled to herself, asking in her mind to the wolf in her head. "Why can't you shift? Aren't you very powerful?" The voice answered belatedly but in a strong and confident tone. "I am powerful. There is no doubt. However, sometimes, power is poisonous." Once again Primrose's lips rose in an understanding smile. The window was rolled down, fast paced breeze blew her soft brown hair as it invaded into the car. Her glaring red dress stood out as she left the car. The driver drove away, leaving her by the majestic gates of the palace. The fact that she could get to the front gate of the humungous palace was due to the surname added behind her name. She approached the guard at the window by the gate with a smile. The guard did a double take but mind him manners and didn't look again. "I am here to meet the Regent. My name is Primrose Santiago." Primrose stood patiently as the guard made a call. She stared at him with a condensing look in her eyes as if the moment he says something she doesn't want to hear, his head might as fall off his shoulders. "His royal highness is currently not available to meet anyone." The guard made a concise statement. Turn around and leave. Was the message he didn't relay. A short scoff puffed on her lips. "Can I speak to whoever you called?" she asked politely. The charming smile was unchanging but the honey drops like eyes had changed. The guard somehow felt pressured into handing her the receiver. He haphazardly pressed the button to connect to the regent's office. He gulped and backed away from the woman in red. The receiver was pressed lightly to her ear. Her red painted nails stood out against her smooth skin. Her fingers tapped on the smooth surface of the receiver until it was connected with a beep. "This is the second time I have been disturbed. If there is a third time, I will personally come to visit you -" "Come out, husband. I am waiting for you to escort me inside." The regent's cold voice came to an abrupt stop at the intervention from the equally cold voice of a female. A few long seconds of pause ensured. Primrose cleared her throat. "I am here to discuss something important. Your guards won't let me in." The regent didn't speak for another few seconds. Primrose frowned, annoyance building up inside her. Did he go mad? Why was he not talking? Given their history, it wasn't even considered bad if he directly ignores her. Maybe he heard her voice and said, no thank you, not dealing with you today and kept the receiver down to let her stand and talk on the phone like a fool without receiving a reply? That was completely possible. Anyway, five minutes had already passed since then. The phone receiver was at the verge of breaking under the pressure. The guard was sweating inside the small cabin. "Your royal highness -" Primrose started. "Let's go." Finally hearing his voice settled her heart from dropping in embarrassment. The annoyance only grew though. In those functions, she didn't even notice that the voice didn't come from th reciver. "Tell the guard -" she reached forward to hand the receiver to the guard, only to see him bent like a stick and bowing down until his head was touching the bottom of the window. "Your royal highness!" The guard shouted. The surrounding guards also stood at attention and bowed together, making a rustle that was in sync. Primrose's smile froze. She didn't have to turn around to know what was happening. A deep breath went in and out, unnoticed. She stretched out a smile and turned around slowly without a shred of nervousness on her face. The handsome face of the regent greeted her, followed by the noticable frown pulling his lips in a downward arch. "Your royal highness," she politely addressed but did not bow. Cassius eyed her red dress, chose not to comment on the choice and turned around. Primrose followed behind in her high heels, confidently looking around the place. It was the third time she was here. The first time being at nighttime for the banquet. Additional lights were everywhere to make it bright like day. The true beauty of an old castle was reflected both in day and night. The second time was yesterday, directly to sign that marriage contract and certificate. It was an event Primrose never expected to be a part of. At this point she wasn't even surprised. She would do anything to achieve her goals and getting married to a man for mutual benefits was not the lowest she could go. Having six bothers known for their ruthless demeanor in the world helped a lot to built that personality. Primrose actually wasn't that invested in the architectural design of the palace. Her eyes fell on the strong back of the regent. He wore a black high neck sweater, black trousers and a trench coat, unsurprisingly also black. The figure in red followed the man in black, displaying a picture on the stretch of driveway of the palace that surprised the onlooking servants and gardeners working outside.
