Destroyer

EPISODE 38- Hopeless

The clash between the jester-looking man and Destroyer proceeded. However, the two clash to each other even more fiercely than before. The sound of explosions and magic attacks being fired at Destroyer doubled.

To cope up with the more aggressive offense of his enemy, Destroyer also became faster. “You are a slippery bastard,” spoke the jester-like man. Destroyer who was evading the attacks using the Z01 assassin's agile armor replied. “I take that as a compliment.”

After evading the attacks, Destroyer continued to dash towards the jester, who had prepared another volley of magic attacks. As red colored magic circles appeared behind him.

The jester then spoke at me “Aren't you tired of just evading? You even haven't given me a single scratch.” [Gattling Fire Arrow!] [Exploding Fire Ball!]

The bombardment of magic attacks then continued. Which I immediately evaded, this battle was taking too long. No, matter how much I attack him, I always fall into the defensive. I even thought that this guy was even more powerful than the A-class calamity dinosaur I just killed before.

However, I haven't unleashed the full potential of my armor. So, for the first time in this armor, I might go all out without holding back. I then spoke to Xyra, after planning to end the battle once and for all.

“Xyra, activate assassinate lock to level 5.” After saying those words my, Heads up display suddenly turned bright red. Then a tracking corsair locked into the jester.

Xyra then spoke, “All restriction has been deactivated. Target locked, target range fourteen meters. Identifying weak points….10%….15%…45%…50%…55%…85%…98%…100%… 4 Weak points spotted!”

After that multiple smaller corsair suddenly appeared in my HUD (Heads up Display), which locked into the four weak points of my enemy. It then highlighted the parts that the corsair was locked.

Xyra then continued to speak, “Energy core boosting usage level to 100%… Warning! A high temperature of the armor will be experienced when using 100% of the energy core. You will experience a sudden slow in movements or sometimes a total immobile body due to high heat. ”

Wait, I have the possibility of having an immobile body when using this kind of attack. Then I only have one chance of using this. This is very stupid, how can it be called an assassin if the aftereffect is immobility. Assassins should be able to move swiftly to escape the chasing enemy and excel at one vs one battle. Suddenly my elbow, knees, and the part near my ears seemed to open a small hatch.

After a few moments steam suddenly came out from those hatches. So I concluded that those hatches were probably cover for my exhaust, which might be used to release the high heat from my body. Created by the energy core that I am using 100% of its power.

The jester man looked at Destroyer and had a looked of worry. He then spoke these thoughts to himself as he saw Destroyer. “Somethings not right, this guy seems different from before. However, I don't feel any magical powers increasing.”

“So, why am I having a bad feeling about this, nothing seems to change about him. Power, mana, and physical appearance nothings change, but what was that smoke he released? It seems to do nothing as it was ordinary steam created by heat.”

The jester man prepared another volley of attacks. “I'm not gonna allow any mistakes and failure this time.” [ Gattling Fire Arrow!] [ Exploding FireBall!] Bombardment of the same skill was then fired towards destroyer.

However, as the magic attacks were about inches near Destroyer. He suddenly disappeared and only left an afterimage. And the only thing that was hit was the afterimage that Destroyer left. The magic attacks successfully hit, but only the afterimage of Destroyer was the only one that was received the damage.

The attacks caused an explosion that vibrated the air. Dust from the ground raised up in the air, which was combined with a black smoke created by the magic attacks. The jester-man then prepared another bombardment of the same skills and waited for any movements.

Karl, David, and Lucy's attention were caught by the explosion. Causing them to become worried as they saw the thick dust and smoke covering the area where Destroyer was standing before. Nonetheless, they were not given time by their enemies to even scream at Destroyer. As the enemies, they were facing immediately dashes towards them in that swift moment, when they looked at Destroyer.

Moments passed the jester looking man has his skill still activated. “No, movements yet? Is he already dead…if he is why is there a tingle of worry that I am feeling right now. ” Spoke the jester-like man. However, in the eyes of the jester-man, he had successfully stopped Destroyer. But he is being tickled by worry as he gazes at the smokescreen created by dust and explosions.

“No movements ye...*shiing!*” the jester man suddenly felt his right arm became light. This caused him to look at his right. Upon gazing on it he suddenly had a staggered look, as he saw his arm which was already cut clean.

Suddenly, he felt a presence appear in his left rear. Causing him to turn around and cast a magic spell. But before he could utter his skill, he saw his hands immediately had been separated from his wrist. Blood then splashed out of the jester's wrist, however instead of screaming in pain. He only showed an expression of anger and surprise.

“H-how!?! Where is the enemy!?!”

“I'm right here, you slow fool!” spoke Destroyer who suddenly appeared behind the jester. This caused the jester-man to turn around again, but only to get his head separated from his body, as Destroyer immediately slices it off before he could fully face him completely.

“This is some sort of joke right?? All of my plans, revenge, and my daughter….” Spoke the jester's head as it flew high above the air.

But even the head was already separated from the body. The jester's body was still able to move and swing its handles left arm at Destroyer. However, Destroyer just pushed the body with one hand, causing it to fall down to the ground.

“You are still alive even though I already cut your, head, strange.” Spoke Destroyer as he walks towards weirdly towards the jester's head.

Damn my body feels heavy and tight, just walking alone this time makes my body four times heavier than before. Just lifting my legs almost feels forever to move forward. But this is better than being immobile.

As I arrived at the fallen head of the jester I asked him, “Now, are you willing to tell why you have done this?”

“I have nothing to tell you, you're not even human in the first place so how could you understand anything. B-but then again, I am also not human.”

As I got near the head of the jester I asked him, “I heard that you said daughter, was this for her to be revived from the dead?”

“Why'd would I revive my daughter from the dead, she has already suffered enough.”

“So your daughter is the reason for this? But why do you…”

“You know nothing about her! So just stop asking about my daughter and kill me.”

“Then let me ask you this, is your daughter happy about what you are doing? Do you think she would be glad at all the lives being sacrificed for her sake!”

“T-that's… she would be glad about it!”

“Stop lying to yourself, you are not doing this for your daughter. You are being controlled by your selfish desire.”

The jester's eyes suddenly started to drop tears, as our conversation continued. He then spoke to me, “You know nothing how much we suffered because of the king's fear. All the loyalty I have given the kingdom and the king and they will pay me, by taking my most precious one.”

“Then you are truly driven by your selfish desire for vengeance. If your daughter saw this she would be…”

As I was about to finish my sentence a loud explosion suddenly happened. *Boom!* When I looked at the source of the sound I saw David and Karl already down. Karl's armor was so beaten up tin can. David meanwhile, had his sword broken into two pieces.

Seeing the two I then looked at the enemy that they were fighting. I was utterly shocked as the crimson Phantom was almost bigger than before. Not only that but Xyra even gave me another warning.

“The girls in the magic circle has been 89 percent absorbed by the magic circle. Also, the power levels of the magic circle have increased drastically. Not only the magic circle sir, but the crimson phantom that defeated Karl and David also had a significant increase in power levels.”

“Also miss Lucy, seems to be losing all of her stamina. The chances for this mission to succeed is down to 13%. I suggest abandoning this mission, to increase your survival, sir. ”

“What the hell are talking about Xyra?”

“My priority is your safety, sir. So I am only suggesting something that would save you from being annihilated. The Camilla adventurer party is not of significant importance. And this mission is theirs and not yours, so leaving them here, will not affect you at all, sir.”

“What the hell, Xyra do you really think that I would abandon these kids!?! Just to save myself!”

“Sir you are in no condition to keep combat, but if you suggest doing the impossible. Then I have no choice but to take over the control of your entire body. In order to save you from thinking naively ”
