Chapter Six
On the ground at Rio
When Autumn parked the B-17 in front of the airport terminal at Rio, Anderson jumped out with a pair of yellow wooden blocks. He was followed by Matthew, carrying a second set of blocks. They ran to wedge them in front of and behind the wheels of the main landing gear.
Anderson walked out in front of the aircraft, to where Autumn could see him. He held his hand up, palm toward her, and she knew he wanted her to idle the engines for a moment before shutting down.
Anderson glanced at the feathered starboard inboard engine, then went to stand before the outboard engine. He listened for a moment, then hurried to the other side of the plane. Autumn and her grandfather watched him pause before the port side inboard engine before going to the fourth and final
