Chapter 5 Daniel came to, he didn’t know how much later, with a blinding headache. Putting his hand to his head, he felt something slightly sticky and knew it was blood. Pale sunlight slanted through the bedroom window, letting him know it had to be morning. Groggily he sat up, fighting back a wave of dizziness as he did. He managed to stand, and staggered down the hall to the bathroom. One look in the mirror told him what he already knew; the place where the man had hit him had bled. Not badly, but there was blood congealed in his hair. Stripping off his pajamas, distantly glad he wore them or the man might have seen more than Daniel would have liked, he got into the shower and turned on the water.
