Chapter Two - Better Deal

Emmitts POV

I woke up to a pounding on my bed room door and I groaned. The pounding continued and I slapped my hand around for something solid I could throw at the door. I finally found something, not really sure what it was, and threw it was hard as I could. I could a loud thunk as it hit the door and dropped to the floor. Whoever it was wasn't having it though because they just opened the door anyways. "Get your ass up Emmitt" My mom said. "Ugh please five more minutes" I said. "No you need to get up sweetie" She said coming over and shaking me.

I blinked my eyes awake and sighed. "Fine" I said sitting up and rubbing my eyes. "What's so important that you couldn't let me sleep longer?" I asked her. "Seriously? Did you forget what day it is today?" She asked me. My brain was still in a sleep dazed fog as I looked at her confused. She rolled her eyes before answering. "It's your eighteenth birthday today silly" She said. I perked up at that and smiled. That's right dip s**t I heard in my head. Well it's a pleasure to meet you too asshole I said back to my wolf. What's your name? I asked him. Eddie He replied. Well nice to meet you Eddie. I look forward to leading our pack with you I told him.

"Have a nice conversation?" Mom asked me with a smile. "He called me a dipshit, I called him an asshole so I'd say yeah" I said with a shrug. "Well get dressed everyone is down stairs for breakfast" She told me before walking out of the room. I got out of bed and quickly showered and got dressed. I slipped on a nice white shirt and some jeans. I combed my brown hair back and took in my appearance. I had always been muscular but everything seemed more defined now. Hell even my eyes were brighter. Perks of being a wolf Eddie said. True I said before walking to join my family. My dad was seated at the head of the table, my mother to his right and an open chair to his left for me. Next to my mom was my Beta Olivia followed by her parents Carlton and Tiffany. Then there was Bella and Calvin next to them.

"Morning everyone!" I said taking my seat. I looked to my Gamma Trenton as he gave me a pat on the back. Next to him were his parents Travis and Anna then there was Cordelia. Cordelia smiled to me but I could tell it didn't reach her eyes. She had been turned by the Vampire King Gabriel who had been married to my mom and imprisoned her entire kingdom. Thankfully my dad had killed him but Cordelia never aged. She still looked seven years old even though she was now twenty three.

Mom explained to me in private one year that birthdays remind her that she wont ever shift or find her mate. I don't remember much of the science behind it but because her body was stuck at the age of seven her bones hadn't developed enough to handle shifting. Since she couldn't shift she wouldn't be able to find her mate. Some of the omegas brought out plates filled to the brim with eggs, meats, pancakes, biscuits, everything you could think of. We all dug into our food before my dad broke the silence. "So you excited for your Alpha ceremony tonight?" He asked.

I smiled and nodded my head "Yeah I can't wait to lead the pack" I responded. "Good. Since you'll be taking on this new role I thought it would be good for you venture out on your own in the family business as well" Dad said. My eyes widened a little bit at that. My dad had started a realty company selling high prices house to wealthy clientele and even business to people. He had been training me for a while so now that he thought I was ready to go on my own was a big deal.

"Wow dad thank you" I said. He clapped me on the back while taking a sip of orange juice. "I know you'll do a great job son. I've even got a showing for you today" He said. "What is it?" I asked him. "A local man is looking into the open bar in town. Apparently he has plans for it already in mind he just needs to see the lay out" Dad said. "Great what time is the meeting?" I asked. "In a couple hours so you have time to relax a little bit." He replied.

We all got back to our dinner as mom talked about the ceremony details for tonight. "Let me know how I can help Luna" Olivia said. She was an amazing Beta, however she was very straight laced no nonsense type of girl. Don't let that fool you though she could kick some serious ass. She had even put me on my ass a few times during training. "I'm sure we'll find something for you to do" Mom said and Olivia gave a nod. Trenton glanced at me and leaned over to whisper. "She seriously needs to find her mate. Maybe that will loosen her up a bit" He said. I snorted at that and tried to hide my laugh with a cough.

Once everyone was done I went up to my room to get dressed for the showing. I put on a pair of black slacks and a suit jacket and went to my dads office to get the contracts and everything. When I walked in my dad took a look at my outfit and smirked. "You might want to change" He told me. "Why? Is it not professional enough?" I asked him worried. "No it's not that but this guy is a biker so it might help to dress down just a little bit" Dad explained. "Okay I'll just put on what I wore to breakfast. While I'm changing can you get the contracts and everything set up so we can sign?" I asked him. "Sure thing kiddo" He said.

I ran back to my room and quickly changed and grabbed all the paperwork. I made my way to the location to see an older man leaning against his bike as he scrolled through his phone. He heard me pulled up and stood up putting his phone away. As I approached him I looked at my watch. I faced him with a smile and offered him my hand. "Emmitt Donahue nice to meet you" I introduced myself. "Rodney Edgefield" He said and shook my hand.

"Sorry if I was a little late" I told him. "No you're right on time. My previous...meeting...ended earlier than expected" He said. I figured the term 'meeting' meant something different for him but I wasn't about to question him. As we made our way into the building he looked around and took some pictures. "This will be perfect" Rodney said. "What exactly are you going to do if you don't mind me asking" I said. "Well I'm part of a motorcycle club...strictly legal by the way" He said. "So we're going to use this front part as a bar and the back will be our club house" He said. Almost sounded like a pack house in a way...just without the wolves of course.

We went to the counter top that was there and set all the paper work down. He came over and started signing. "Whats this say right here?" He asked me pointing to a line in the contract. I walked over and that when I smelled it. The most incredible smell in my life. MATE Eddie yelled in my head. I quickly explained what he was pointing to and he went back to signing. Obviously this man wasn't my mate, but he had been around her; by the smell of it very recently too. "So do you have any family?" I asked him trying to get the information I needed. "Well the whole club is like family but yeah I have a daughter" He said. "Awesome" I said. I couldn't think of what else to ask without sounding like a stalker of some sort. Luckily the Moon Goddess took pity on me.

Just as he was about to sign the final line his phone rang. He pulled it out and answered. He was silent for a moment "Sure thing sweetie" He said. Rodney moved the phone a little and looked to me. "Do you know any local ice cream parlors? My daughter wants to get some but we're new here and don't know our way around just yet" He said. "Oh absolutely. If you want I can follow you back to where you're staying right now and show her around. My treat" I offered. "Hey I'm bringing the realtor home with me. He said he can show you where to go" Rodney said. "Love you too" He said then hung up. He extended his hand and I took it gladly. "Thanks so much for this Emmitt. I feel like I got a great deal" He said. "No Rodney it's I who got the better deal" I said. You don't even know Eddie said as Rodney packed everything up so I could meet my mate.
