Chapter 4 - Present - Elizabeth

A gentle hand shaking him was what awakened the Warlock in the next morning, no pups between them as his head lay on the she-wolf's lap...

The little ones woke up early when they heard the Alpha couple opening the door, Jack being the first one to run to his parents when they entered while the adults continued to sleep.

Penelope giggled, watching the scene before her, yet silently, along with her husband, she went to their room as the children went to Jack's room to play.

"... Harley?" Elizabeth tried again, called his name this time. "Good Morning."

"..." He growled yet sleepily, turning to her belly before running a hand through his hair. "... Good Morning."

Looking into Eli's eyes, they stared at each other for a few seconds before he realized their position, sitting up quickly apologizing to the Werewolf.

"It's ok, don't worry," She spoke after a little laugh, Elizabeth took a little longer to wake him, as she lost herself looking at the traces of the Witch's face. "Penny and Alpha Alex have arrived. She's in their room, and Alpha went downstairs to sort something out, they both said you could help yourself with breakfast, no need to wait for them."

Looking at the table, he could see all the food in there, and Harley couldn't hide the shame he felt for being the second time in his stay that he woke after the couple, making the she-wolf tell him not to worry, that Penny and Alex didn't care about that before calling her son to leave.

... Well... To go back to their suite on the second floor...

Elizabeth decided to live in the Pack's house for the time be after breaking up with Caleb as she didn't feel right living in their old house, even though the place was owned by her family...

"Allow me to say that I'm sorry again." Harley apologized once more when Eli just opened the door, and her son ran out to their room as she stopped at the door to hear the Warlock's words.

"I already said to don't worry about it, you're sleeping." With a smile on her face, she turned to him while her hand was yet on the doorknob. "But if this bothers you so much, would you like to go dance with me on Saturday?" 

"... On Saturday?"

"Yes, Penelope agreed with me that she would look Kris for me this weekend, so I have Saturday free to myself." She mentioned the deal she and the Alpha made, and the next weekend, she would take care of the couple's son. " And... Last time, we said it would be cool to dance together again, so I would love if you can come with me as an apology."

"Yeah... That would be nice..."

"But?"

"But I don't know if I'll be here on the weekend." The Warlock planned to leave today, at the end of the day, after his brother and sister-in-law came back from work.

"I see... Well, if you're still here, you can find me in suite 27." Although her voice was a little sad, Eli smiled before saying goodbye to Harley when Kristian returned to call his mother, telling her that she was walking too slow.

... Reluctant about she-wolf's request, the man sat down the eat his breakfast, noticing the amount of food on the table, he called himself stupid in his mind, thinking that he could have told her to stay and eat with him before return to her room...

"You should go." Harley stared ahead after hearing his friend's voice. 

"What?"

"You could go with Eli." She answered him, putting coffee for her. "Honestly, I think if she doesn't go out with you, she'll spend the night at home alone, eating junk food and watching random movies."

"I just came to Jackson's party, Penelope. I'll bother you guys if I stay longer than that." The Witch said, eating his pancakes. "I didn't even bring enough clothes for one week."

"C'mon Harley! You and I both know this is a lie." Penelope rolled her eyes at what he said. "You know that you brought enough clothes to spend a month if you want as you're planning to go to Sol's house after."

The Warlock looked into young Alpha's eyes without saying anything. He knew she was right, and if he wanted to stay, his excuses weren't a problem at all.

"... Ok, I'll stay." He said... After losing their small staring contest, making a smile show up on Penelope's face as she said to him don't worry anything, that he would have fun for sure. 

... And so, at that very moment, Harley was watching Elizabeth dancing with a Human male, he invited her as soon as they entered the bar, where old music played, and several couples with the average age of thirty danced happily.

Her short blond hair flew freely in the wind while the young woman had fun dancing. 

Her vintage-like A-line dress was quite different from what most women of her age wore in there but yet matched perfectly with how she looked tonight... 

Harley couldn't stop his thoughts as he waited for their drink, thinking it had been good that he borrowed Alexander's car since it was nice to have a lady riding a motorcycle while wearing a dress.

Elizabeth waved at him shortly, before the song ended, making he saw when the man with who she was dancing, approach to her ear, saying something to the she-wolf, making her laugh, but his eyes soon had someone else to notice when a blonde figure got closer to him.

Dancing with the Human who the name I just found out to be John had been fun, but it was nowhere near the emotions I feel when I danced with Harley.

... Dance with him seemed to be the best thing in the world, it was almost like I was in the clouds...

I couldn't hold back the giggle that escaped my lips when John said he would give me back to my boyfriend now, or he would get jealous, and strangely, I didn't see the need to correct him.

... Like it or not, Harley was my date for tonight, and I didn't like it at all when I saw who was talking to him at the bar... 

I could easily recognize the dyed in blonde hair just like mine from Katrina, a Shine Moon's wolf, the other Pack in town beside us, her daughter Selena, was Kristian's classmate in kindergarten and like me, she didn't wait for her Mate to live her life, however, her divorce last year had been due to her husband's infidelity.

... Looking at her and Harley, it reminded me of what Penelope had asked me after the Witch agreed to my invitation...

"Could you take him to a bar outside the town?" My best friend, and now Alpha asked me strangely, lying on my bed.

"What? Why?"

"Please don't tell anyone about this, okay?" The way she spoke didn't seem like Penny that I usually knew. "The reason Harley doesn't want to came back to Mingan, or Nightvaley, in general, is because his mate, soulmate, or whatever lives here."

"What? Shouldn't he be happy with this? Or maybe even come to live here?"

"She's married and has a child, Eli... Harley told me he didn't want to separate her family, so he had been avoiding her at all costs." Of course, there was more to this story than my best friend wanted to tell me, but she probably thought it wasn't my business as she was already talking more than she should. "So please, Eli. Can you take him to someplace outside the Town?"

"... Sure, my favorite place is out of town anyway. So, it will be perfect." But now seeing the sad smile on Harley's face, I wasn't sure if Penny and I were right about this.

Due to the noise of the music, and the conversations around me, I couldn't hear what they were talking about, even if I was a Werewolf, however, something that I could miss was the subtle smile give be Harley when Katrina showed her left hand, indicating that her wedding ring was no longer there... And Mate or not, she wouldn't have him tonight...

Anyone could call me selfish, shameless, but Harley was mine today! He was the first person who was nice to me, and that I could relax along with since I broke up with Caleb, my brother and friends were busy with their own families to realize how I was feeling, and my mother had finally gotten over my father's death, after seeing me and my brother happy with our children, so she decided to take a time for herself, going to a trip around Europe... So it could be something unconscious of his part or even a request from Penelope to him...

... But it didn't change anything...

Harley was mine today, and no one would take him away from me, his Mate could have him later when he was no longer hiding from her.
