It had been about an hour since Carmen had left me alone at my apartment. She offered to be there with me, but I figured it would be better if I did this alone. I was at my desk, staring at the instructions with the box in my lap, but I still couldn’t bring myself to take the stuff out and get started. I kept going back and forth with wanting to know, and not wanting to find out. During my walk it sounded so simple, especially if the problem was with bad breath. But what if it was something else. What if it was something that I just couldn’t fix? I couldn’t come up with any examples, but it had to be something big if it scared me so much. You’ve come this far, I told myself. Might as well just do it. After a nice, long sigh, I opened the box and laid out the contents right in front of me.
