“Why did you want to come to this particular tomb?” Amir asked Remi after a long, hot climb up most of the length of the valley.
As their Egyptian colleague predicted, there were far fewer tourists up here. Remi understood why. She was sweltering and had already downed most of the large bottle of water she had bought for an inflated price at the valley entrance. A line of bedraggled-looking Germans was waiting to get into the nearby tomb of Seti II.
“Because it’s the largest of the locked tombs,” Remi said. “It has several rooms but because there are no decorations it’s not open to the public. The sources I looked at say it’s also unstable, but someone who believes in conspiracy theories would think that’s just a smokescreen. They would feel such a large tomb would be a
