CHAPTER 36 Elliot glanced up from his cottage cheese and cantaloupe lunch and pulled his cell out of his pocket. Who was texting him in the middle of the day? Could it be Ruby? He’d been trying to decide all day if he should text her now or later. He wanted to stay in touch, but he was afraid of appearing too desperate. This message was from his foster sister. Did you hear about the fire in Orchard Grove? Fire? What fire? He jumped straight to his internet browser. He didn’t want to wait for Tiff to text him all the details.
