The days that followed after the nightmare turned out to be better than many I had experienced before. The weight of banishment that had once rested heavily on my shoulders had begun to ease up and with time, it also began to fade away with the wind. Having been cast out of the Silver pack and forced to leave everything and everyone I had come to love after my upturn in fortune didn’t feel so bad anymore.
I was determined to forge a new path for myself with the help of the new friends I had made in a place I had come to see as my new home, Luciana, and the Alpha, Ethan, I ventured into a world I knew little of, seeking acceptance and solace in a world that felt rather unfamiliar to but I was eager and ready to succeed by any means possible.
Being a new wolf in a new pack wasn’t an easy feat and trying to blend into the new surroundings was harder than I ever realized. Ethan had urged me to join his pack on a hunt once and despite my initial reluctance, I figured a moment outside would bode well for me and my unborn child.
“You need to start leaving the house often, Arielle. You’re pregnant and not handicapped.”
Luciana had said and here I was trying to do as she instructed as I made my way through the forest, navigating my path and trying to tune my senses to the new surroundings. I continued to make my way deeper into the forest until I reached a sanctuary untouched by human hands as folklore being told by the residents of the small town on the outskirts of the pack territory. It was there that I found a pack of wolves, led by Ethan, who had been waiting for my arrival.
“We’ve been waiting for you, Arielle. Come forward, I want to introduce you to the pack.” Ethan started, he wasn’t in his wolf form yet unlike the others.
Intrigued yet cautious, I tentatively approached him where he stood with his arms outstretched beckoning to me, which instantly made my heart yearn for connection.
“What if they don’t want me?” I whispered as soon as I got to where he stood.
Ethan’s eyes twinkled with amusement. “Why would anyone hate you?”
“I don’t know, because I don’t belong here.” I shrugged, unsure of what else to say.
“They’re welcoming, you have nothing to be worried about, I promise.”
Tentatively, I did my best to give him a reassuring smile as I stood next to him as he introduced me to his pack.
“Everyone, this is Arielle from the Silver pack. She was banished by the Van Tyson and I’ve decided to take her under my wings and she would remain here as an honorary resident of our pack from now henceforth. Does anyone have any question or objection to this new arrangement?”
The whole pack remained silent, initially wary of the newcomer, sniffed the air, assessing her presence and demeanor, trying to figure out if she posed a threat to the well-being of their pack. My posture was submissive, and it conveyed my respect and willingness to adapt.
Ethan turned to smile at me. “I told you they’re welcome and with time, you’ll earn their trust and become one of us.”
And over time, I came to realize that he had been right. Slowly but surely, I began to gain their trust, as my genuine nature and determination to prove myself became evident.
As time rolled by and under the guidance of Ethan, I started to learn the ways of my new pack and I began to understand what loyalty meant as I discovered a deep sense of camaraderie and adopted new values I would forever hold close to my heart. As days turned into weeks and weeks into months, my bond with the wolves grew stronger, and I found a place amongst them.
Yet, despite my newfound home, I couldn't fully escape from the memories of my former pack. The hurt still lingered and the betrayal from the Van Tyson triplets that led to my banishment lingered in my thoughts, a constant reminder of my painful past.
I struggled to grapple with the bitterness that threatened to consume me, I tried as hard as I could to let go of it all but my efforts were proving futile much to my despair, I knew that if I didn’t heal from my scars and if I continued to dwell on the past, it would hinder my ability to truly settle down and find peace.
One evening, as the moon bathed the valley in its gentle glow, Arielle found herself alone with Orion, her trusted leader, and mentor. She confided in him, revealing the pain and anger that still plagued her. Orion listened intently, his wise eyes filled with understanding. He spoke of forgiveness and the importance of letting go, reminding Arielle that her true strength lay in embracing her future rather than being burdened by her past.
