Chapter 3

I opened my eyes slowly and looked around the unfamiliar room I was in. My body was suddenly alert as I raised myself up. “Where the hell am I?” I whispered to myself, my voice raspy. This definitely doesn’t look like the palace or my pack because we didn’t have houses as advanced as this. Where is this place? I wiped my eyes clear and then, I saw an old woman coming into the room. “You’re awake.” She exclaimed, a slight smile playing on her lips. “Where am I?” I asked her. “A place where you are safe,” she replied before she came towards me. “What is your name, girl?” She asked. “Arielle,” I whispered. Suddenly, memories of last night came crashing into my head. The rejection, then the alpha I saw the night before that was going to hurt me. Was he the one that brought me here? “Who brought me here?” I asked her. “Our alpha. He saw you loitering and wanted to help. The woods aren’t safe for women anymore.” She sighed. It felt good to hear that there are still nice people in this world. “How long have I been out?” I asked. “Two days. You’ve been unconscious. The doctor said it was due to severe exhaustion and hunger.” She replied and I nodded. I heard a slight knock and the door creaked open. “The alphas said I should ask if the stranger is awake.” A young lady said by the door. “She is awake. Inform him that she would be joining him for breakfast.” The old lady replied, and the lady replied before she closed the door. “Come on. Let’s get you to eat something.” She helped me up. Standing up, another wake of nausea hit me, and I broke free of the old lady and got into the toilet to puke my guts. Was this how my life was going to be? I looked out through the window and from what I could see, it was morning. Perhaps it was morning sickness. My mind darted back to the triplets that caused this and venom filled my mouth. It was all their damn fault. But there was nothing I could do about it now. I stood up, flushed the toilet, and rinsed my mouth in the sink before I headed back into the room. The old lady had a worried look on her face, “Are you okay, dear?” She asked, and I nodded slightly. “I am.” “How long?” She asked, and I gave her a blank stare. How the hell does she know? “How many months pregnant are you?” “I have no idea. I just discovered it a day before yesterday.” She nodded, “The doctor didn’t mention it, I would have put it in mind. I will take care of you myself.” She gave me a motherly smile. The old lady's mind linked someone and within seconds, a maid came in with a cup in her hand. She handed it to me with a slight bow. “Drink this. It will help.” The maid said and I gulped it down. “My name is Luciana. I would be the one assisting you, while you are at our pack.” I wiped my mouth and nodded. “Thank you.” I handed the cup back to her. “Now, let us get you to the alpha. He wants to meet with you.” The old lady, whose name I didn’t know yet, said. We walked to the dining room, and I saw a man who I assumed was the alpha sitting there while he ate silently. When we were close enough to the dining table and he noticed our presence, he looked up and stared down at me. “She looks very weak and frail, Luciana.” He commented, standing up to his feet. “Yes, she is. She’s a bit ill.” Luciana replied. “And pregnant.” His deep blue eyes peered at me for a moment in shock before he raised his eyebrows in realization. His eyes briefly glanced at my stomach before he sat back down in his seat. He seemed to be surprised. “Sit with me.” He gestured to the chair beside him. I nodded and threaded towards the other side of the table, and perched down on the seat behind him. His powerful aura was palpable, just like yesterday when he was in his wolf form. “First of all, I am Ethan. Alpha Ethan,” he started to speak, and I nodded. “Please get our guest something to eat.” He said to the maids and they bowed their heads and walked into the kitchen. “Also, about yesterday, I want to let you know that I had no intention of scaring you like that. I don’t like seeing rogues around my pack. But I sensed your need for help, so I wanted to help you,” he said, and paused. “What’s your name?” He asked. I hesitated before responding. I knew that revealing my true identity could be dangerous, but I also knew that I was in no position to lie. "I'm Arielle, Arielle Myers. I am from the Silver Moon pack.” My voice was barely above a whisper. Ethan's eyes widened in surprise, “That pack has a reputation for being cruel to those they deem unworthy. Did they do something to you?" He raised a brow. His words hit close to home. I shifted uncomfortably in my seat. His gaze and everyone else’s around the table were on me, so I had to answer. I sighed before I spoke up, “I am an omega with a scandalous reputation. I was once caught with a rogue alone in a room, and immediately got branded as the slut of the pack without getting a chance to explain myself. Even though nothing happened between the rogue and me, wherever I went, I was treated badly. I was constantly bullied by the people of the pack and even at school until the day the triplets walked up to me, and stood in for me,” a small humorless laugh escaped my lips. “I had thought I was done with the humiliation, especially since they claimed me as their mate and showed me more love than anyone had ever shown me. Until a few days ago during our mating ceremony. They rejected me, saying that they had only used me, and I was not worthy of becoming their mate and Luna. I had just discovered that I was pregnant, then.” I paused, feeling my eyes starting to sting. I couldn’t continue. “I am sorry that they treated you like that, Arielle. But just know that you are welcome to stay with my pack. I would have the maids take care of you.” His voice was thick with pity and compassion. My heart swelled at his offer. My baby and I would at least have a place where we could call home, and we wouldn’t have to live as rogues. I bowed my head, my tears not allowing me to speak. I didn’t even know how to respond to his kindness. “You’ll be fine. And maybe someday, the goddess will grant you someone that would be the perfect man for you.” He added to his words. “Thank you, Alpha Ethan.” “Ethan, to you, please. You are not my subject. You are my visitor. I suppose the food is to your liking?” He asked, and I nodded. It was way more delicious than the food they cooked back at my pack. “It is. It is very delicious.” I smiled, wiping the lone tear that escaped my eye. “I am glad. Well, I would like to sit down and get to know you more but I have pack meetings to attend, so I must go. However, the maids will be here to assist you in every way you need them to. If there's something you need from me, tell Luciana, or tell someone to direct you to me. You’ll also come to my office later for your official pack link ritual.” He said before he stood up to his feet. I nodded, and he gave me a curt smile before he walked away. I finished my food and walked into the kitchen, to assist them in cleaning up the dishes. ”No ma’am. We wouldn’t hear the end of it if the alpha finds out that you did the dishes, especially in your condition.” Luciana stopped me, and I flashed her a warm smile. She reminded me of Jana. “I am as fit as a fiddle. A bit dizzy, yes, but I can do things. And I cannot just live in this place without doing anything to help.” I said and the other maids exchanged looks. I walked to the sink and started to wash when the old lady came in. They all bowed down at her sight. Horror flashed on her face, “Oh mother. What are you doing? Please come with me to your room. The alpha sent for a doctor to check you.” I nodded before I washed my hand and threaded behind her. When we got back, I sat down on my bed and leaned my body back. My thoughts came crashing to me again, and my throat went dry. I wished I could just wipe all of it away from my memory, but that wasn’t possible. I needed as much distraction as I could get. My fingers curled into fists as the feeling of betrayal washed over me again. I then realized that I didn’t want to forget. If I did, then perhaps I was going to forgive them for what they did to me. I was going to relive that moment every day of my life, until I come up with the perfect plan to make them pay for daring to use my emotions like a freaking game.
