Chapter 2

I was rejected on the night that was supposed to be the best night of my life. I stared at myself in the mirror, my bloodshot eyes and red face making me wince. I looked miserable, just like I did inside of me. Jana walked in with water and I pushed the glass away. I wasn’t thirsty. I was angry and upset. They had used me. They had made a mockery of me, used my weakness, took advantage of me, and then dumped me because they had gotten bored and tired of me. I gripped the cut glass in my hands as ire filled me. All my life I have dealt with the pain of rejection and mockery. When I had thought all of that was far behind me, this one comes and demolishes all of the work I had put into healing my heart from that trauma. And my child. I placed my hand on my stomach and it felt like the world came crashing all over again. “We need to leave now, ma’am. In a few minutes, people would be coming in here to throw you out.” Jana said and I nodded. “Help me pack. Let’s leave. I cannot stay one more minute here.” I wiped my tears. I was glad that I was going to leave, with Jana at least. I was even more glad that I had been given the chance to leave this pack. I couldn’t stay here anymore, not with what happened earlier. The bullying was going to become worse. “Well, well. How the mighty have fallen.” I heard and turned around to see Nita standing by the door. She’d come to mock me, of course. I said nothing to her and continued packing my bag. She walked towards me and laughed while clapping her hands. “You really thought that you could climb up the ranks just like that. You pathetic whore.” She spat and I looked at her coolly. “What is the guarantee that because the triplets kicked me out, they’ll pick you? I am sure that it is your doing. Now that you had the last laugh, leave me the hell alone.” I spat, and that seemed to throw her off balance. I have never stood up for myself but it has come to an end today because I wasn’t staying here anymore, I could do whatever I wanted before I left. No one was going to penalize me anyway. “Well, I guess it is goodbye to you at least. We wouldn’t have to deal with seeing a rejected dejected whore.” She smirked. “I think of it as good riddance,” I turned to face her, slinging my bag on my shoulder. “Remaining in a pack where all everyone does here is bringing people down. I’m glad that I don’t have to see your desperate face, and have to deal with your envy and jealousy. Goodbye, Nita.” She stared at me for a moment before she let out a small laugh, shook her head, and left the room. Nita tossed me a concerned look but I gave a reassuring smile. The damage has been done, and I don’t think anything would be able to heal me. “Do you intend on telling them about the baby?” Jana asked and I shook my head. “Those idiots will decide to keep me here just to make me the subject of ridicule and then after I give birth to their child, I’ll be sent out of the pack without getting to meet or know my baby,” I explained to her what will eventually happen and she sighed. “Well, I think we would have to get rid of this then.” She said and pointed at the tube. I picked it up and threw it into the fireplace alongside the gifts that had been bought for me by the triplets. I was about to leave when the triplets came into the room. My chest tightened at the sight of them, and my wolf whimpered. “It is bye-bye to you, slut. Get out of our pack, and never show your face again.” Elijah said and Loki smirked. Jonathan said nothing but stared at me with a blank look on his face. I bowed my head slowly to them, and started walking out of the room with Jana following behind me. “Where do you think you’re going? She is not royalty, so she shouldn’t have a maid go with her.” Nita, who I had thought was gone, was standing in front of the room waiting for me. The triplets came out when they heard what she said. “Maid, get away from her,” Jonathan instructed. “Please, alpha. Let her be with me at least.” I requested, but he didn’t look like he was going to change his mind. Nor his brothers. I looked at Jana, and I gave her a subtle nod. “Take care of yourself.” Her voice broke before she turned around and left. I took one last look at the Van Tyson triplets, their names and faces making an imprint in my heart. The waves of laughter, the smirks, the subtle mocking looks. I would pay them on their own coin. I headed out of the pack border and when I was out, I collapsed by a tree. I dropped my bag, and sobbed. I cried my heart out, at the memory of how I’d been treated constantly ever since the day I was caught with a rogue. A rogue, with whom I had nothing to do with. I sobbed at the thought of my unborn child, a child that would never get to meet its parents. A child that would have to live as a rogue because of the reputation its mother has. Because of me. I sighed as I heard thunder rubble in the sky and looked up. Rain was coming, and it was the full moon. The night could not get any worse. I felt my bones cracking so I hurriedly sped into the woods and morphed into my wolf. As I pranced around, basking in the freedom of being in my wolf form, rain began to fall. It fell so heavily, that my fur and the bag that was around my neck were drenched. I started to thread through the woods, hoping to find shelter. I found a little shed by the corner. Relief washed through me as I trotted there, but then I saw something that made my heart drop. A pair of red eyes glowed at me. A wolf came out of its hiding place, and I could feel the murderous intent emanating from it. It was an alphs. He probably thought I was a rogue. With his predatory glares, his fangs bared out at me and I could literally taste the fear on my tongue. That acidic bitter taste of near death was on my tongue. I could feel his intent to kill me, to tear me to pieces. My child… I cannot let my child die. I gulped as he stalked closer, taking his steps very lightly but steadily, his eyes locked on mine. He growled coldly and loudly and that made me run in fear. I scoured through the woods, looking for a place to hide, but there was no place. I hit a dead end and backtracked against the wall, as he met up with me. I can’t lose my child, neither can I lose my life. Not before I take revenge on the Van Tyson family. He stared at me, as I cowered in fear and bared his teeth. I could feel the fear overwhelming me that my body was starting to shake and give up on me. No… I couldn’t faint now. But as he stepped closer to me, the more my body felt weaker. The last thing I saw was him peering at me, before my body gave up on me completely and I succumbed to darkness.
