Chapter 11
Donna and Aiden left a few hours after we all calmed down from the crazy news that we are expecting a baby. Not sure if it has sunk in yet. Trent has already made an appointment at the doctors tomorrow morning, to get it confirmed.
Trent is in the shower singing away to himself. His singing voice isn’t great but he is happy. I’m lying in bed, the covers wrapped right up to my chin. I am still trying to come to terms with the fact that I’m pregnant. I’m so scared. I know Trent says we will get through it but I still have my doubts. It makes me think of my parents, even though I don’t really remember them, I was too young when they died. I don’t know how to be a mother. I’m a nervous wreck.
I feel the bed dip beside me, bringing me out of my thoughts. “What are you thinking about?” Trent asks as he climbs into bed and pulls me to his chest for snuggles. “The baby” I whisper. “You’re scared, which absolutely understandable, sweetheart. But we are in this together. You and me, always.” He kisses my temple and tightens his hold on me. “What are your parents going to say? Oh god and Danny and Liz, oh god. This is too soon.” I’m a stuttering mess. “Avery, calm down baby. My parents will be over the moon and Li and Danny too. Yes this is all sudden, but our whole relationship has been sudden, we haven’t even been together a year yet and we are already getting married. Please do not panic about anything, baby. I love you with all my heart. I will love this baby with all my heart” he tells me this all while running his a hand over my flat tummy and the other over my head. I lean in closer to him, placing a hand on his chest, feeling his steady heart beat. “I love you” I whisper as I place a kiss on his chest right where his heart is. “I know baby, I love you too. Now lets get some rest as we have an appointment tomorrow. Aiden and Donna will deal with the office, ok?” he snuggles me closer and soon sleep takes over.
“mummy, mummy. Daddy says I can have ice cream because I finished all my homework.” A little blonde haired boy runs up to me in the kitchen. I stand there staring at this little boy, he is a mini version of Trent, he has little dimples and stunning blue eyes. “mummy did you hear me” the little boy tugs at my arm, snapping me out of my daydream. “Ice cream, daddy says I can have some” he looks up with puppy dog eyes. This little boy must be my son. I reach down, cup his face in my hands and kiss his forehead, “yuck. Mummy why did you do that, you know I’m a big boy and mummy not supposed to kiss me” he giggles as he wipes his head where I left my kiss. “Ice cream for my bog boy” Trent says as he hands the boy a bowl of ice cream, he runs off and sits at the dining table and tucks into his ice cream. “He is so cute” I say to Trent as he slips his arms around my waist from behind. “Yes, and I bet this little one will be just as cute” he says rubbing my rather large tummy. I look down and see I am very pregnant. I gasp in shock and wake as Trents alarm is going off in the distance.
I place my hand on my flat stomach, rubbing in gently. I look over to see Trent rubbing the sleep from his eyes, just like a child would do. “Avery, whats wrong?” he reaches over and wipes my tears away, “Why you crying?” he says as he pulls me to him and cuddles me to his chest. “I don’t know why, I had a dream we had a son and I was pregnant with a really huge bump” I giggle as I recall my dream. “I bet you look sexy with a bump” he says as he rubs his hand over my flat stomach. “Sexy with a bump?” I question this mans sanity sometimes.
We both get up and shower and get ready for the doctors appointment. After a quick breakfast, we head out and head to the clinic. On route to the clinic, Aiden calls Trent to see how we are and to warn Trent that his parents have heard about Melissa and her crazy tales. That is one thing I do not need to stress about at this point in time.
We reach the clinic with 10 minutes to spare. We head inside, speak to the receptionist, who hands me a few forms to fill out. We sit down and now my nerves have kick in. Trent takes the forms and finishes filling them out, just as his phone rings again, he answers it. “Mum, can I call you back. We have an appointment in 5 minutes. Yes mum. No its not. I will explain when I see you. I cant talk right now. Ok. Yes she is fine. Ok. Yes. Right bye.” Trent sighs as he hangs up the call. “Baby?” I question him as I reach over and take his hand in mine. “Its fine babe, mum just going crazy listening to gossip before she gets all the facts, don’t worry” he reaches over pecks my cheek, just as the receptionist calls my name.
“Ms Benson, pleased to meet you. I’m Dr Dee, have a seat” a cheery little grey haired woman greets us as we head into her office. We take a seat opposite the large desk at the side of the room. “Ok, so lets get started, so your file says you are pregnant and just want it confirmed and if possible find out how far along you are.” She says all this while flicking through the forms that Trent filled out. “And you must be dad?” she looks up to see Trent staring at her. “Yes, Trent Colton” he reaches over to shake her hand. “Nice to meet you Mr Colton. We have met before a good few years ago, your firm built my house.” She goes on to tell us about it.
After the general chit chat, she takes some blood samples from me. Not great with needles so I held Trents hand all the way through it. She also asked for a urine sample, which I was glad of because my bladder was about to burst. I headed to bathroom to provide the sample. I hand her back the sample once I return to the office, she takes it to a work bench and tips a few sticks inside it. The sticks change colour “This confirms your pregnancy, Ms Benson.” She then ushers me on to the bed at the other corner of the room. “Now we will do a ultra sound to find out how far along you are” she says as she lift my shirt asking me to lower my skirt slightly, she places some gel over my abdomen. I stop paying attention to her as I reach for Trents hand, he is standing at the top of the bed, pushing his fingers through my hair, looking into my eyes lovingly. “Pregnant” he whispers in my ear with a huge grin on his face. I nod in agreement and return the huge grin. “Ok, so going by size here you are about 6 and half weeks pregnant.” She tells us as we both snap our heads to the screen to see a tiny blob. “I’ll print some pictures for you” she says as the machine spits out a few copies of the same thing on the screen. I get cleaned up and adjust my clothing, while sliding off the bed. “Ok, so we will get another appointment made for a check up in about 10 weeks, then we can tell the gender if you want to know. Also here are some leaflets, general information about the early stages of pregnancy, what to eat and what to avoid etc.” she says as she hands the leaflets to Trent. “SO, congrats and see you in about 10 weeks” she stands shakes hands with us and we leave her room, stopping at the receptionist to make the next appointment and leave the clinic.
Trent has been very quiet all the way back to the car, I’m worried that he is regretting this pregnancy, after being so positive about it last night and this morning.
“Trent, everything ok baby?” I ask reaching for his hand stopping him from opening the car door. Turning him around to face me. He is crying staring at the scan picture. “Trent, whats the matter?” I pull him into hug, running my hand up and down his back. “Happy tears, baby, very f*****g happy tears” he leans down and smashes his lips on mine. “You had me worried” I say as we break the kiss. “Oh baby, I’m sorry. I just cant believe it, we are having a baby. Its just so amazing” he states as he pulls me closer to his body. We stand in each others arms, totally in our own world.
