Damien stood motionless next to the marble graveyard without a hint of any emotion. His eyes were fixed steadily on the name that was engraved on the headstone; it was his mother’s. He never missed a chance of visiting her every year but also never visited his father, not even once or a glimpse. He had so much hatred inside his heart which turned him into a heartless, broken child who grew up without having the warmth of a father’s love. “I will come and visit you next time,” he whispered, placing the bouquet of white roses right next to the withered flowers he had brought last year.
