: SECRET TRAINING

The house was dead silent when she snuck down from her room dressed in tattered sweatpants and a hoodie that was once the color white.

While the household went to bed fairly late, Carolynn usually stayed up later than everyday to fix her curlers so she could brag all day about how natural and effortless it was for her having "naturally curly hair". Elena slipped out the backdoor and stopped in shock and trepidation when the floorboards creaked. Luckily,it woke no one and she quickly broke into a sprint towards the gym.

The night air was clean,fresh and crisp as opposed to her bedroom. She greedily took in long breaths as she approached the gym.

The door was propped open and a faint light shone from the gym.

She didn't immediately approach the door, rather she stalked its perimeters checking for any foreign scents so as to not get caught. Alpha Scott would kill her if so much as a rumor broke out about her training.

Elena finally entered and breathed with relief as she thought about the countless times she had sneaked off to train. She was always careful as one did not have perfect luck every time- especially someone like her.

A big shadow stepped into the light, bringing a smile to her face. The only person she's considered partially a friend.

At 6"1, Asher was pretty tall and always sported a resting b***h face regardless of his mood.

He didn't really care for Elena and was only training her for a challenge and he knew his father Beta Chase would be pissed if he found out. He had a sick desire to only do things that'll make his old man angry. The Beta and his son were like oil and water.

Elena was grateful for it though. When he approached her a long time ago and asked if she was interested in training she immediately jumped on it without thinking.

It turned out to be the best thing she'd done.

"Let's start".Asher barely spoke to her and she tried not to start a conversation either. It was that they met,he trained her, pushed her to her limits and stopped to go home.

He held the punching bag for her as she started punching and kicking,he said nothing when she was right or in good form but stopped to correct her when her posture wasn't correct.

Her body was often left in bruises by the time they were done but helped nicely before she had to start her chores.

She unleashed a series of jabs and punches imagining it was Cherilyn face she was punching.

Once she was done with the punching bag, they moved to sparring . When she first started, she always ended up with a brutal ass kicking. Asher was one not to hold his punches regardless of gender.

Now,she had the agility and speed to defend against his strength and big structure and she used it to her advantage.

She dodged and swept him off of his feet with her hind leg catching him with surprise.

Asher landed heavily with a thud but he quickly came back to his feet smiling at her as he went for her with a right cross but she dodged and faked a faint before catching him with a surprise swing to the gut. He wheezed with air being knocked out of his lungs as he quickly backed away from her area of maneuverability.

"Ok let's call it a night" Asher was mildly impressed. "At this point I don't need to teach you anything".

Elena came up to a short and was surprised at how his announcement made her frantic and uneasy.

She started shaking her head and started pleading. "Please, I need you to continue teaching me".

"You're strong now,and although you don't look like it, you're fast," Asher was still having difficulty breathing.

"But I still need more training! And for what I plan to do I need it now more than ever"

They both know she wanted to defect from the pack. Basically a taboo but it beats the life she has here.

She even had a moment of hope as to whether she could go looking for her birth father. He'd been sent out to wander as a lone wolf and banished from ever returning the night she was born. She daydreamed about him sometimes, wondering how it would feel if they reunited.

She also daydreamed about Asher, but the dream was always caught short by the sting of reality. Asher would never be interested in her in that way. They were not compatible on many levels.

"Alright, do some weights and hit the showers"

Asher said as he went to fetch his bottle.

Elena was relieved and went to work on the leg press. She then decided to leave when they came back from the Winter Solstice ball.

Meanwhile,

"I want the flowers cascading from the ceiling! Do you understand that?! Cascading! Not just dropping you dufus!"

Lucien pitied the poor soul being directed by Priscilla's mother, the one and only Priscilla Ashburn.

The decorations were coming together nicely and everyone was getting together to make it a memorable one. Nana really did a good job putting competent people in charge.

He felt the burning gaze of Mia and her clique from the balloons section and was tempted to make a run for it. Mia really dolled up for today but Lucien had more than enough on his plate without including Mia.

"Hey Alpha," Caden walked up to him wiping the sweat off his brow. "I'm done fixing the former pack houses but don't you think they'll mind staying there?"

Some of the Alphas had the ridiculous audacity to request the riverside cabin but he didn't even design a response to that.

"Let's go have a look at it"

"Yes Alpha"

They went to the old pack houses and saw they were looking just fine and perfect and met the worker in charge of the restoration.

"Alpha Lucien" the worker greeted.

The worker named John was one of the best workers in the pack and Lucien was happy that the job went to a competent person.

"Good job John"

He inspected and found everything in order then informed John to go inspect the fences surrounding their borders. The entourages of the Alphas would be staying here whilst he and his Nana would house the Alpha's family.

One more look at the preparations and he nodded with satisfaction as when went back to his office to handle the Alpha's temporary settlement papers.
