Hayfah groggily squinted her eyes, her gaze falling on distraughted Amna, she was intently staring at her. Her face suddenly lit up, as she heaved a sigh of relief. Hayfah thought she was worried about her.
It suddenly somersaults in her, she saw him! He hugged her, he was probably the person that brought her here. But where is he?
She laboriously turned her throbbing head, and was disappointed to see only her family. He left! Without saying goodbye.
Lifting her eyes up, her gaze fell on Amna; sitting beside her at the edge of the bed. "Hayfah, how're you feeling now? Can you remember something? Like what happened? Who brought you here? The doctors said you might suffer from amnesia," Amna implored, holding her hands, as her face has nothing but a beseeching expression.
Hayfah couldn't move her hand, nor could she opened her mouth. Not because that she couldn't, but she wished to wake up by his side, she wished she could take a glimpse of his handsome face__a bit more. How would he left like that? Is he by any chance__part of them?
Amna convulsed her vigorously, as tears started clouding her view "Hayfah, I beg of you, in the name of Allah, don't tell me you're already into this amnesia of a thing. Tell me his name before falling into whatever it is you're going to fall, but don't leave me in suspense. Don't you love your sister anymore?" She requiemed, mewling. How could Hayfah do this to her? Doesn't she love her again? She was 100% sure it was him she saw. How could it be someone else? It was him! Let her just tell her his name, and she can falls into anything she wished, for all she cares.
Hayfah let the agonizing tears fell, they were tears of torment and anguish. She thought she truely cares, she thought atleast her feelings would be reciprocated, why was she always at the bad side. All her sister cares about was him! Of which he was her's!
She laboriously opened her mouth, she wanted to tell her his name, it was all she cares for huh? Then be it. She was tired all these things, because of him. "A--d-d-y," Hayfah whimpered, and was cut off by exasperated Umma, there was no scintilla of empathy in her eyes, nor the words her voice erupted, which plagued Hayfah's heart.
"Amna! Why are so into this guy? Wasn't he the one we saw at the entrance? I believed he was the one. And by any chance, he's still in Zaria. Let's go back home, bring the haut monde Amna back, you're ny daughter, the girl which an angelic voice. We can shangai him," Umma conjuctured, tenderedly looking at bewildered Amna. She was flummoxed, how didn't she thinks of that? And she was here, wasting her precious time, in lieu of her to go look for her Amor.
"And you, let you keep the name by yourself, but know that; as far as I'm alive, you'll not have that guy, he's Amna's, and hers alone!" Umma taunted at Hayfah, whom eyes were closed. How could she get to see him?__just one more time, a single glimpse can do.
"Aren't you the sweetest Mom? Mi yidi ma Umma am. Sai to min garti (I love you my Umma, till I come back)," Amna jabbered and hugged Umma, ignoring her threats to Hayfah.
"Bye Lil sis, till we meet again," Amna spoke with full sarcasm, a smirk plastered on her lips.
Abba entered the room with a Salam, Tahir following behind. They went to call the doctor when she opened her eyes, it was a pleasure to them, they thought they would lose her. Their biggest fear was the__amnesia.
After the doctor asked some questions, Hayfah couldn't utter a word, she was just vacantly looking at them, as her heart was in an agonizing pain, she wanted to be alone__to have his thoughts; peacefully. For she could still feel his scent, his warmth, his breathtaking smile when she looked up, how he hugged her was an endearment, she couldn't get enough of him.
"Alhaji, since she couldn't utter a word, the only doctor we have that could deal with realted cases has to come, but for now__you all have to leave her alone. She might have been having neurosis about the whole incident, and her brain needs to scupper the situation she's in," A doctor in his mid 40's informed and wanded off, before they followed suite. Leaving her alone with her thoughts.
She was ruminative about her whole life, how everyone she could count on wouldn't be by her side, how unlucky she was, how she would end her life as a one sided lover, when the door creaked ajar, emanating Dr Malik, he wore a fleeting smile on his face, with a worried facial expression.
He smiled at her warmly, which she reciprocated with a genuine smile. She suddenly felt the urge to open up, she felt the urge to voice out all her emotions and neuroses, she felt safe with him.
"How does it happen? Could you remember your family members or anyone?" He inquired, jolting her out of her trance.
She shifted her gaze on him; he was sitted on the plastic chair beside her. She felt she needed to vocalize her emotions and pains, she felt unscathed with him around__more than anyone__expect for Adyan.
"He left," she encapsulated, as lone of tears roled down her left cheek. "He left without saying a good bye," she enunciated, fixing her saturnine orbs on his face.
He heaved a sigh of relief, atleast she was out of the risk. "Who left? You can trust me, I can be your therapist, and I promised to be the perfect listening ears. Let's exonerate professionalism, take me as your best friend, and say your feelings out. It took years burying them there, so voice them out, you'll feel better," he offered, taking off his medicated glasses, so she could believe; professionalism has been exonerated.
"Can I trust you? Won't you tell anyone? I won't tell you his name, it's my priced possession, and no questions should follow suite," she elaborated and sat upright, supporting her back with the pillow.
"Cross my heart, and wish to die. It's between us," he smiled warmly at her, but there was an instinctive feeling that gnawed at him__who was the guy? Does she liked him that much? He really is a lucky guy.
"We met on my geography WAEC examination day. He was flirty at first, and he couldn't realised I couldn't talk because I doesn't want to be humiliated. Then after the paper, he told me that he excorted his brother for the invigilation, and will go back home that day.
He kept probing till I got infuriated and started throwing tantrums on him, at the end I told him my name__but admist my shoutings, and I left him there.
We met on my graduation day again. The only pictures I had taken was with him, and I didn't have a copy of them. From that day, he kept popping out in my dreams, I knew it was something like a temptation, but him being my dream guy is scary.
Then yesterday, he rescued me from the vexatious touches of those men that took me out of the bus, and he was palcifying me when I heard his voice and looked up. His face made me zoned out again, for I was shocked beyond words. I wasn't expecting him, but I really wished I could wake up to him by my side, but unfortunately; he left, without me even saying thank you," she silently blubbered, cupping her face.
He kept looking at her, as his heart was beating with an uneasy speed, some questions gnawing at him, of which he had to ask, snubbing her threat. He looked up and handed her a handkerchief with a cup of water, which she gulped down instantly.
"Feeling much better?" He asked, warmly smiling at her.
She nodded her head, with a smile plastered on her lips. It surprisingly felt better, she thought voicing it would make it more painful, but the truth is; she felt alot better.
"So__I still have some questions to ask. You said you didn't want to be humiliated huh? Why was that? And__you said you thinks of it as a temptation huh? Is he kind of a bad guy?" Malik inquired, a probing tone laced on his voice.
She playfully glared at him, "I told you no questions. But since you're my new BFF; most of the people I've encountered with in my life, have humiliated me because of my voice, always finding a way of ridiculing me. And about him; he isn't a bad guy, but still I had this feeling of it been a temptation," her husky voice encapsulated, grinning widely.
He made an 'O' shape with his lips, he didn't want to probe her, but couldn't let the words slip away either. "From the first time I saw you, I was astounded, on how beautiful you are, your voice was so angelic to my ears, how you cried melted my heart, that I had to look onto your sister. So never for once look down on yourself, no matter how bad you look, no matter how vanquish your flaws loomed. You're a masterpiece, and that makes you perfect!"
"Awwn, It seems my new Betty is good in words. Thank you so much, you've really inspired me, albeit I hadn't for once looked down on myself, I've always believed that; I was created like this, and I believed it's a blessing in disguise. But sincerely, your words inspired my soul; to live a life," she flashed him a gratuitous and genuine smile.
"You got to be discharged, Betty. I know what it means too," he winked and sauntered out of the room.
***
He was the person that took her home after she was discharged, he made it a duty to always go see her, and he was the one that was taking her to Zaria, after so many beseechings from him to Abba. He had said "Trust me, Abba. She would be safe with me, I'm afraid of letting her go alone by herself, from what happened earlier. It won't be a burden to me, I have a seminar to attend in ABU too," he would conjuctured, hoping Abba won't say No.
"I know she would be safe with you, but if I said I value her like queen; don't get me wrong. Take care of her like an egg. Be safe," Abba would reply reluctantly, not because he wanted to, but Malik's benevolence towards Hayfah couldn't let him turn him down.
They were chatting fascinatingly, as the bond they share has been intensively becoming intimate. She was free around him, and could laugh till her cheeks hurts. He was always there when she needs him, and would always make a smile appear on her lonesome face.
"Betty, you should excort me to the seminar first, please," he pouted, as they entered ABU Zaria.
"Betty you know I'm kind of an introvert, how do you want me to greet them? And plus I'm not into all those kinds of doctor's stuffs," she grimaced, making her best puppy face.
He made an annoyed expression on his face, amd spoke "Betty, how many times? You always forget our talks. You're voice is more than okay. Don't get me pissed with your annoying talks, let's just go please," he whined, a beseeching expression plastered on his face.
"We can go then, poor Hayfah," she panted exaggeratingly.
He chuckled outwardly and halted the car few feets away from the hall, they came out and walked side by side, laughing at something he says.
Meanwhile; Adyan was waiting for Kassim at the parking lot, close to the hall. He had made it his habit of always been in Zaria, wishing to take a glimpse of her. But seeing her today, with someone else, coming out of the same car, walking side by side, him seeing her gorgeous smile, hearing her marvellous laughter; shattered his heart.
So she was happy with someone else? And he was sure he wasn't hallucinating, he was sure it was her! So__all this while, he was a one sided lover! His heart was shattered because of her!
Is it kind of a long wait__Honey bunches?
How was the chapter and all?
This Malik is becoming someone else woo. No my water inside.
Adyan is broken. Too bad.
