CAMILLA It's only three days before the opening ceremony of the art gallery, I have once again searched and looked into details for the things we will be needing for the event to be successful. I had gone to see the different artists that would exhibit their arts that night. I made sure to search online through different blogs to ask questions concerning the arts, how many pieces would typically sell on the opening nights and what attracts first-timer art, buyers or experienced collectors?” I got the answers and jotted them in my pad. I had gotten the publication units to promote the artworks that would be the showcase that night. I had the invitation cards sent to various top buyers that were listed on the sites. I paid an investigation officer to help get their business details and emails to send the links to them. I wanted the event to be a success, so no one would have a bad comment about the night. I asked Miss Karen to make sure the invitations were published in the newspapers with the dress code announced too. I made sure the programs that would be carried out that night were published and ready. I had food and drinks planned out for that day and so were all the other necessary things. I told Mr. Clifford to organize some hors d'oeuvres that would welcome the guests and hand the programs of the events to them. Because of this, I had made a lot of friends who had art galleries to help me with how to start and what to expect. To know if there would be an outbreak issue or if it will go peacefully. I was advised to get someone who I could trust to help with the auction prices and I asked them to help me with one. They promised to get back to me and also help me with advertising it. I asked Miss Karen to invite the press over, I announced the opening night of the gallery and the date plus the dress code. I was asked several questions, especially those that asked about my source of income to open an art gallery. I told them about my dad's dreams, how he wanted one and how this art gallery was going to be named after my dad as a memorial for him. With a thank you, and bow to everyone present, especially the press that came to listen to me. I headed straight to my office and threw myself on the chair, completely exhausted. In three days, I would be done with fulfilling my dad's dream. I checked my phone for any voice message and Lincoln's voice came through. I was flustered by his voice. ‘Hey Cammy, I know you are busy, I just wanted to check up with you. I signed the deal with Mr. Robinson and I will be going to the new site, so I won't be seeing much of you. I miss you and I can't wait to see you on Saturday night at the opening of your dad's dream. Got to run, work calls.’ I replayed the voice record over and over again until I heard a knock on the door and Miss Karen walked in at my order. “Remember that you don't have anything else to do and it's 6pm. You need to rest, also no work tomorrow and Friday. You need to rest and get your skin smooth and lovely for Saturday night.” Karen suggested. I murmured something to myself and reluctantly turned to her, signaling her to wait. “I said you should go home now ma'am.” She scolded me politely. How can someone be so harsh and respectful at the same time? It made me wonder if she's a real human. Murmuring to myself as I stood up from the office and walked towards the door, I turned around to face her and her hands were urging me to get out of the office and go rest. I hissed as I left the office, walked towards my car, and drove off. When I got home there was a package on my doorstep from Miss Karen. ‘Ha, I thought as much, now I know why she wanted me to come home so early. What could be inside?” I thought to myself as I took the package and opened it. I saw a white lovely gown. The cleavages were a little exposed and the other part was replaced with a net covering a little part of the boobs. It's a detachable gown. I could remove the flair and wear a short gown like that, so I decided to work with both of them. After sending her a thank you message, I called the people decorating the building to ask about it and they gave me positive answers. After getting all the confirmation I needed and everything was perfect, I laid on my bed, hoping that on Saturday would be okay. D-Day Finally, the day of the opening of the art gallery was here. With the help of the maids, Miss Karen, and my makeup artist, I was looking gorgeous, ready to slay the night and make today a perfect day so that I could put a smile on my dad's face. Saying a little prayer, I walked to my car where Karen was waiting for me. As soon as I entered, we sped off. When we got to the event center, I was stupefied by what I saw. The design was glamorous and very attractive. I wondered to myself if the outside of the place could be this beautiful, what would the inside be like? ‘They really did a great job.' I thought to myself. I couldn't contain my smile when I got in. It was like a fairytale art gallery opening and I fell in love with it. I was distracted by the decoration I was staring at when Miss Karen called my attention and introduced me to an important guest that came to buy my art. I was getting exhausted as Miss Karen kept introducing me to different guests. It was so exhausting that I wished for the ground to swallow me up as I needed help. My feet were hurting and aching at the same time. At that point, I could do anything to sit on a chair. Someone cleared his throat to draw our attention to the stage. As we turned, we saw the anchor (MC) who enjoined everyone to get a seat as the opening had started. I smiled as my prayers were answered. Then he started the program. It soon got to my turn to say a word to the guest. As I got to the stage, I started by appreciating everyone that accepted the invitation and honored it. After which I continued with sharing the history of the art gallery, why I wanted to do it so badly, the process I went through to be able to achieve it all together and how tonight would be a blast. And just I said it was a blast. The auctions started and I loved how they were all fighting with their money to get the art designed by various artists. My eyes roamed around the room in search of Lincoln but the crowd wasn't allowing me to find him. When the auction was done with no painting available, I smiled because it was a successful sale. I suddenly felt someone's hands covering my eyes and I struggled to set myself free, after which I turned around to see Lincoln and with excitement I hugged him. “Thank you for coming, I'm grateful.” I appreciated him. “You're welcome, walk me to the game garden.” He said. “Sure.” I nodded and sent Miss Karen to take care of everything. We walked for a long time and came to a halt in the game garden filled with plastic chairs. “So why are we out here?” I asked him. “I wanted to say something but before that, you did a great job, you made your dad smile, I'm proud of you.” “Wow thank you very much, it was because I have people like you who are always here beside me.” He smiled and I laughed. “So.. hmm….Cammy what I want to say is... I don't want you to hate me yet, I just want you to hear me out first before hating on me.” He said. “Okay, I promise you." “We've been friends for years now Cammy and I know you more than you know yourself.” “Okay?!!” “I love you Camilla Avery, right from the time I met you in our fresher's party. I was so scared that you would hate me if I told you and I would ruin our friendship so I hid it. Now, I can't hide it any longer because I want you in my life. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you, Camilla.” He said and I froze. I couldn't control the tears that were welling up when he started talking, I let it all out. ”Cammy I didn't mean to hurt you, please don't cry I just want you to know that I'm in love with you.” “It's a tear of joy, Linc. I love you so much, I've always wanted you to tell me you love me and I'm glad you did." I said leaning forward and standing on my toes to place a kiss on his lips and in return he kissed me passionately. “Let's date Cammy, please.” He said as he broke the kiss. “Hmmm, ask me out in the morning and I will give you my answers, I'm too flustered to say anything and I might fool myself.” “But…” “Shhh love, answers tomorrow,” I said, taking to my heels, running away from him. When I got back to the building, Karen had handled everything and I smiled at her. Soon I was seeing the last guest to his car. “Your driver is waiting, you should start going,” Karen suggested. “Come with me and I will drop you off at your house, since you don't want a car, this is from my heart to you.” I pleaded with her and she finally agreed. We were on our way home, having the best time of our lives as we chatted and laughed about today. It happened so fast, the screams of Karen, as the truck with its bright light crashed into us, and I could feel the car flip over until it came to a halt, my head was touching the roof of the car, I turned to see Miss Karen bleeding badly from her mouth. My head and vision were getting blurry. Soon I welcomed the darkness that was creeping in.
