The appearance of Spring (Haru)

-There were cherry blossom trees for as far as one could see. The trees were in bloom and they were extremely alluring. He walked to a nearby tree and looked up to the cherry blossoms. He had a genuine smile, which he found surprising as a genuine and caring smile has not been made to his face in months. Just as he was about to touch the tree, the sky turned dark and a gust of wind blew. He opened his eyes, and all the cherry blossoms had fallen and withered. His smile disappeared at the sight. At a distance, he could see a silhouette of a woman. He squinted his eyes to see more clearly, but the silhouette disappeared. And then at the spot the silhouette disappeared, there was a blue car wrecked and a dead woman inside.- Haru woke up in cold sweats. The dream he just had was a nightmare that caused the cold sweats. But he could tell that this nightmare was a vision. Vision was an ability he possessed. Some of them were clear, while some of them were metaphorical. This vision was both metaphorical and crystal clear. It meant that the woman he saw in his vision was going to die soon. He felt the anxiety in his gut get stronger. He checked the time, it was 4:45 am. There was still time until he had to wake up for college. He put his hands behind his head and stared at the ceiling. The vision was in his mind. Events did not always happen according to his vision. His decision and his actions that intervene in the vision had the potential to divert the course of the vision. He could not stop thinking about the woman. He had this different and strong desire to know her and if he could, save her. The lingering feeling that the vision left him was extremely strong. This was not the first time he had a vision, but this one exceedingly intense. After this, he could not sleep a wink. And by the time his alarm rang, it was time to wash up and go to college. He got up and got ready. He went to the kitchen and his mother was already setting his breakfast. “Good morning Mom”, he said. “Good morning sweetie”, she greeted back. He sat down to eat. After he was done, he checked the time. It was 9:32 am. “s**t, I will be late”, he said and got up. He grabbed his bag, car key and dashed out the door after shouting a “bye” to his mother. It took him around twenty-two minutes to reach his college parking. He drove around to see a free parking space. Then he froze. There was a free space near a blue car. It was the same type as the one he saw in his vision. As he parked his car and hurried to his class, all he could think about was whether the woman in his vision was studying in his college. He barely made it to his 10 am class with one minute to spare. He caught his breath at the entrance of the class and looked into the class to see where he could sit. As he was attempting to find a seat where he wanted to sit, the seat at the back of the class and the woman sitting near the window caught his eyes. It was apparent that the woman was lost in thoughts, looking outside the window at something that was probably interesting. Then she sighed, and suddenly she looked so sad that he just wanted to hug this person and tell her that everything will be alright. By this time, every fiber of his body screamed to him to go talk to her. He walked towards the empty seat beside her. While walking, he thought about how to initiate the conversation. He reached the seat. Haru opened his mouth to say something like “hey” but noticed that she was intensely lost in thoughts that she did not notice him coming near. He was about to do a fake cough to draw attention from her when the Professor entered the class. He hastily sat down near her and took out a book from his bag to take notes. The Professor started the lecture but she was still staring out the window. By the time she finally looked in front of the class, the Professor had been talking for a good two to three minutes. Haru was trying to focus on the lecture and take notes when he felt her looking at him. He turned to her and smiled. And went back to trying to focus on the lecture. The reason he was trying to focus on the lecture was that he felt this weird but strong desire of wanting to know more about the woman beside him. When he could not focus on the lecture nor could get the feeling to calm down, he sneaked a peek at her. The first thing that came into his mind while sneaking a peek was that this woman was beautiful. He continued watching her, he thought she was taking notes but then dismissed his thoughts. From her expression, he could find out that it was not the lecture notes. She was writing something and thinking about the content gives him bad feelings. She had a sad but tired smile as she wrote it. She seemed satisfied with whatever she wrote, but at the same time, it also seemed like this was the last time she was ever going to smile. This caused heartache for him. Then she suddenly crumpled the paper and set it aside on the table. Haru was a little confused by her actions. He thought, "If the content of the paper was something that she was satisfied with, why would she crumble it as if she was going to throw it away?" As he was thinking, he noticed that the class was over and she was walking towards the door of the class. He packed his bag and got up to go to his next class. His eyes were still following her, she walked towards the door and stepped towards the trash bin, threw a crumpled paper into it, and walked out of the class. These actions made Haru more curious. Hoping that the odds of the crumbled paper she threw into the trash bin is the one she wrote something on, he walked towards it, picked the crumpled paper, and left the class as well.
