Chapter 14:
Helena wasn’t finished with White Snake, but there was little she could do when faced with an empty room. She inspected the vial one last time before stuffing the tiny container into her coat pocket.
She took the steps to the bridge two at a time, rushing to see what the shouting was about.
Once on the bridge, she found Phoebe and the captain peering out the starboard windows.
“What is it?” Helena asked.
“It is a giant crane…” Phoebe said without turning her attention from the sight.
“It seems to be carrying something on its back,” the captain added.
“Stop the ship…” Helena rushed out the door to the main deck before they could answer.
The cold slapped her in the face. Needles of ice forced her to close her eyes and take a moment to catch her breath.
