Theo's POV
A month ago I had my first date with Diana and even though I thought that it went well, Diana was not interested, that only made me want her more and so I didn't give up and now we have been on three dates since then. She is fun, she is funny and she wants to take things really slow, I can respect that, especially since I am going through a divorce. It is very hard for me to accept that Abigail is gone but Diana is slowly getting me there.
My lawyer has finished up on the new divorce papers but I told him to hold it off a bit longer. It's not that I am still looking for her but I am hoping that she will atleast come to confront me about the divorce papers, I just want to talk to her even if it's for the last time. I want to if she is okay, how she is surviving, she hasn't used any of the money in her bank account since she left me, I thought that she might need the money. Being on the run with a young boy cannot be easy.
I also thought that it would help me to find her. I was wrong about that, after what happened to the cabin, she knows exactly who I am and what I am capable of doing. As for Tracey, I still don't know where she is, there is still no word about the chip anywhere. I am wondering what she did with it, if she was going to use it then she would have done that by now. I wish I can give up on looking for her but I can't, not when she still has my ghost chip with her. I want it back.
"Are you ready to go?" Diana asked me. She has been getting ready for the gala dinner I am hosting. It is a charity event I started last year. As the business grew I knew that I had to step up in public and do something worthwhile, I was also hoping that my wife would see it and that she would see that I was really not the man I used to be, yes I killed Marino but I had no choice, that man went too far, it had to stop, that mother*** had to go. I was not going to let him go.
So my relationship with Diana is doing good and I am happy. We are not living together, well at least not yet but tonight she is changing from my place, she came here straight from work, I had to organise a glam squad, she was happy and excited, pretty much like Abigail the first time I sent a glam squad her way. I wanted her to look her best because there is going to be a lot of press at the event. I need the exposure to bring in more donors to the table.
"Wow, you look absolutely breathtaking." I said and walked over to kiss her. She really did look beautiful.
"Thank you, you look handsome yourself." Diana said with a smile.
"Well let's go." I said and took her hand. We walked to the limousine where there was a bottle of champagne on ice. I made sure to get her favourite brand. I want her to feel relaxed, especially since this will be our first time out in the spotlight like this.
"I'm a little nervous..." she said as she took the glass from my hand.
"Don't be, it is all just a bunch of suits with a lot of money, all you have to do is to nod and smile." I said.
"Sounds easy enough." she said.
"You are a doctor... I am sure that you will be great." I said to her.
We got at the venue and we got out of the car. I got out first and held out my hand for her. As expected there was a lot of people and media, they couldn't wait to take pictures, which I didn't mind, it's the questions that I hated. Until I was features in the Forbes magazine last week, nobody even cared about who I was, now I can't even turn my head without anyone recognising my face. I guess I can say that I am now somewhat famous and thanks to the GQ shoot that got published, I am also now the sexiest man in business, at least that's what they say.
"Theo, is that your new girlfriend?" A reporter asked me.
"Yes and her name is Diana." I said and kissed her cheek.
"Does this mean that you divorce to your estranged wife is now settled?" He asked me.
" No comment. " I said.
"Diana how do you feel about being the other woman? Are you the reason why he is getting a divorce?" another reporter asked her. At this point I felt like punching him in the face, she was not even in the picture up until a month ago.
"Don't answer that..." I said to Diana.
"No it's fine... " she said that looked at the reporter.
"I am not a home wrecker and that is all I am going to say about the issue." she said.
"Now if you will excuse us..." I said to the reporters and we made our way to the hotel. I loved what they did with the place. It was exactly what I wanted. I wanted classy and stylish and this is it. I saw that the place was already buzzing with people.
"Wow... this is beautiful." Diana said as she made her way into the room. A waiter went passed us and I took two glasses of champagne. I gave one to her.
"Thank you..." She said.
"Shall we..." I said and we walked to the table. I wish that all my family was here but only my father showed up. My father is still not talking to me, my twin sister doesn't want to set foot in New York after what happened to her. This is a big night for me. One that would have been more wonder if all of my family was here, my dad was here and it was enough for me.
"Hey Steve..." Diana said and went to give my dad a hug.
"Don't you look beautiful tonight..." my father said to Diana.
"Thank you... you look beautiful too." she said.
"Yes darling, I do look beautiful don't I?" he said with a smile.
"Hi dad..." I said and gave him a hug.
"Thanks for showing up tonight." I said to him.
"Will you guys excuse me? I am going to the ladies." Diana said and excused herself.
"Well you will never guess who called me today and what they had to say." My father said.
"Who called?" I asked him.
"Do you remember our friend Carl? the one who builds schools and funds small businesses in Africa?" my father said.
Yes, I remember him. " I said.
"Well he said that he was in South Africa, he told me that he bumped into Abigail at the airport." My father said.
"No, it can't be her." I said.
"Well I wouldn't believe it either but then he sent me this..." my father said and showed me a picture. " At first he was not sure so he took the picture, at first I was like no and then I took a good look at her and I saw that it was really her." My father said.
I know my wife and when I looked at the picture I saw that it was her. She was on the phone with a suitcase next to her, though I might say that she looked so much like her but she looked like a lot different than the woman I know. She was more thicker, she even changed her hair colour and she looked so good with blonde hair. So this is where she has been hiding?
"Are you listening to me?" My dad said.
"Excuse me, I wasn't paying attention." I said. "When was this picture taken?" I asked her.
"I don't know but he sent it to me on Monday." my dad said.
"And you didn't think that you should call me and let me know then?" I asked him.
"No because you are moving on and that is what we want. What difference does it make it he didn't even know which plane he was going to get in." he said.
"That's not the point, she is still my wife, did he atleast say who she was with?" I asked him.
"No... he didn't." my father said.
"Damn! " I said and hit the table.
"Theodore you are week with a beautiful woman, forget that woman, she left you, focus on Diana, she makes you happy doesn't she? " my father asked.
"It's not that simple, she is still my wife and she has been away from me for two years, yes Diana is a wonderful woman but she is not Abigail, I need Abigail! "I said.
"Well that's nice to know..." Diana said behind me. I slowly closed my eyes and cursed under my mouth. I did not want her to here this.
"How long have you been standing there?" I asked her.
"Long enough to know that I will never be good enough for you because I am not Abigail." she said.
"I didn't mean it like that... I am sorry." I said to her.
"Let me make one thing perfectly clear, you are right, I am not her and I will never be her because I do not want to be like her just like I don't want to be with you anymore, don't worry, I won't storm out of here." she said.
"I am sorry Diana, I didn't mean to hurt you. It's not like I don't care for you because I do, I want to be with you, it's just that... can we talk about this later?" I asked her. .
"There is nothing to talk about, you have made your feelings about me very clear." She said and took a seat.
The rest of the night pretty much went okay but I was not well because I didn't know what was in her mind or what she was thinking about. She acted like everything was fine, as if we were good, we even posed for pictures. My was also wondering what was happening, he told me that I need to make sure that I make it up to her, I wish it was easier as said like that but Diana is like a brick wall. I can't get over her. She is affirmative and that is a problem.
" I am ready to go home now..." Diana said with a huge smile on her face. I didn't even know if she was going to start a fight or just ignore me.
"Okay then... we can go." I said to her.
We used the back door where the car was parked, it was not crowded, there was no one in sight, especially the journalists who came to get some scoops, I can only wonder how they even found out about my divorce, I have been keeping things with my private life very very private. We went into the car. I made sure that we had our privacy in the car.
"Can you please take me home, I mean my place." She said to me.
"Dianna I want to explain myself about what happened tonight, please give me that at least." I said.
"Theodore I am not angry, I guess a part of me knew that you and I were not going to make this work, we are just too different." she saod
"That is why I want you... because you are different." I said to her.
"I wish I can believe that but I can't, I know that you are not over your wife, just because you don't wear your wedding ring anymore, it doesn't mean that you are over her." she said.
"I know but that doesn't mean that I don't want to be with you, I want to be with you, please believe that." I said to her.
"I am sorry, I don't think that I can be with you, I don't want to be in competition with someone else, your heart is already taken by someone else." she said.
"No... would you think that I was crazy if I told you that I want to be with you because I actually feel something for you, something real for you and that I actually want to make this work. I said.
"I don't know, Theo... I have to think about it..." she said.
"I can respect that." I said and told the driver to take her home.
