Commitment Is All You Need

Theodore's POV

Life is all about choices, until two days ago I didn't really know what those meant and now they mean so much to me. I don't know what the future holds for me but I know that I don't want to spend it alone. I love Abbigail, God knows I do but she has made it perfectly clear that she doesn't want to be with me, and now she wants a divorce, that means that she is ready to close that chapter of her life, it is about time I do the same and the woman to do that with Diana.

My father was right, she left me and not the way around, I have a right to be happy, Diana can mend my broken heart, that I can be sure of. It has been a few days since the gala dinner and she has not spoken to me since then, she doesn't even pick up my phone anymore. I don't think that I can accept that, we had a good thing going and I don't want to lose the bond we were starting to have I am not ready to let things go. This is why I made the decision that I will fight for her, no matter what.

This is why I called the old age home downtown where she worked and offered some charity, I met up with the founder and I told her that I wanted to make a donation to the facility and the people living there. I signed the cheque and now I was going to make sure that the old people get their care packs, I also have a team of beauticians ready to give everyone massages and make overs. I know that Diana is on her shift. I want her in my life and I am willing to go this far for her.

I sent her flowers and she didn't say anything, I then sent her chocolates, her favourite kind and that didn't sweeten her either. I then got her diamonds, a bracelet full of diamonds and that didn't work. I realised that I had to find another way to apologize to her and after I spoke to my PA, we came up with a plan and this was the plan. I hope that she knows that I want her in my life. So much that I am willing to help her with hers.We had just gotten into the facility and I didn't see her anywhere. I looked around but I still couldn't find her.

"We are so thankful for this, look at how happy everyone is..." the founder said.

"I am glad that I put smiles on their faces." I said.

"Yes... I want to introduce you to someone, our residential doctor..." she said.

"Oh, I would like that." I said and I followed her to where she was leading me. We walked to an office and she knocked on the door and we went in.

"Hey Diana I would like you to meet our lovely donor, this is Theodore ..." She said but Diana stopped her.

"I know him... Thanks Brenda, I will take it from here." she said with a smile.

"Alright then, I will you two to it." Brenda said and left. Diana's smile disappeared as soon as Brenda closed the door behind her, she was not happy to see me here.

"What are you doing here Theo ? This is my place of work and I don't appreciate you coming here." She said.

"That is because you left me no choice in the matter, you don't return my calls, you don't respond to my texts, I had to find a way to see you." I said to her.

*So you decided to donate a lot of money so that you can see me? that is crazy and a bit sweet as well, you know why I don't respond to your calls or texts. You might have taken off your ring but you are not ready to move on, not yet anyways." She said.

"I know it seems like that but Diana you see I want to move on and I want to do it with you." I said.

"You don't mean that, you said yourself, I am not Abigail." she said.

"That is why I want you, because you are not her, She left me and that scared me and most importantly, it broke me, I spent the last couple of years holding on thinking that she might come back but I am done waiting... I want you." I said.

"What if she comes back, are you going to run back to her? I can't be in a relationship where I feel like might booted out the first chance you get, I have a lot going on right and I need stability, I am certain about everything in my life, that is very important to me." she said.

"I am not going to run back to her, I told my lawyer that I am ready to sign the divorce papers, it is happening. I want to make it up to you, please give me another chance." I said.

"I don't know Theo... I mean I don't want to be your second choice." she said.

"I. divorcing my wife because I chose you, I want you. " I said.

"I'll think about it." she said.

"How about dinner tonight?" I asked her.

"It's too soon." she said.

"Okay then tomorrow night..." I said.

"You are not going to stop are you?" She asked me.

"Nope..." I said.

"Okay then, we can have dinner and if it all goes well, I might forgive you oh and thanks for the flowers, they were lovely, the chocolate was also delicious and God... the diamonds look exquisite." she said.

"I am glad you liked them. Thank you for giving me a chance, I won't disappoint you. " I said and kissed her hand.

"Thanks for what you are doing for the people here, I am sure that the makeovers are going to cheer them up." She said with a smile.

"I am glad to do that, I know that this is how I would want my parents to live when they get old." I said.

"You are a good man Theo... " she said with a smile.

I smiled back at her. She called me a good man, Abigail would strongly disagree with that statement. She thinks that I am some heartless killer. I wish she could understand that I was doing what I could to survive. I can't tell Diana everything about my past but I know what secrets can do to a relationship, I know that they can destroy something beautiful, a man with a past like mine can't be relaxed. Who knows when the next threat is going to come. I need to do better than I did before, I am going to tell her a part of my past, I don't want anything to ruin this relationship.

"Okay then, I will leave you with your job and I will see you tomorrow, I'll send a driver for you." I said.

"later beautiful." I said and left her office. I went back home. I went into my bedroom and I took down the big picture hanging above my bed. I also went around the house and took out the rest of our pictures. I went into the garage and threw them into a storage box. I took her portrait and put it in a corner. I went back into the house. I heard the vacuum cleaner in the living room, I went there.

"Ah Theo... I didn't know that you are home, I will be done in a minute." Maria said in her Italian accent.

"I just came back for a few minutes, I am glad that I found you here, I need you to go into my bedroom and take out all the female clothes in my closet, clear out the closet, take everything and put it into boxes, I will get the movers to take them into the storage unit tomorrow." I said.

"Okay , I will do that." she said

"Thanks Maria, I would also like you to call chef Loui, tell him that I have dinner tomorrow night and that I need him to cook us a feast." I said.

"How many people will be be catering for?" Maria asked me.

"Only two people." I said with a smile. Okay so Maria might be my helper but she has been like a mother to me for the last couple of years. She cleans, sometimes she cooks and sometimes advice, I don't think I am paying her enough for this. She has been giving me some sound advice, would you be surprised if I told you that I told her my secrets. I needed someone I can trust to talk and she was willing to listen. She didn't judge me but instead she gave me a hug and told me that she was proud of me, proud that I have changed into the man I am today.

"So does this mean that Diana forgave you?" she asked me.

"I am working on that." I said.

"and how is it going?" she asked me.

"Okay so far, no it's going good hence the dinner tomorrow night." I said.

"So does this mean you want her to move in?" she asked me.

"Yes, I am going to ask her tomorrow, she thinks that I am still hung up on Abigail, she told me that she wants stability and I want to give her that." I said.

"Well I think that it's too soon, I mean you have been together for a short while..." She said.

She was right about that, this might look like it's too soon but I know what I want, I want Diana and I want to give her everything she wants. She needs to know that she is here to stay and that no Abigail or anyone else is going to come back and take her place. I am doing this for me as well. I don't want a casual relationship with Diana, I want a serious relationship so that she can know how serious about her I am, she cold have left when I told her the truth about who I was but she stayed. Her loyalty is unmatched, she is a keeper.

"I know it looks that way but she makes me happy... " I said.

"Well you are a grown man and if this is what you really want then I will support you." She said.

"It is what I want, thanks for this." I said to her.

"Okay then Mark called and told me that they are going to down to the Fiji for Ela's annual memorial." she said.

"I can't be able to make it." I said.

"Theodore it has been two years, you didn't even go to the funeral." Maria said.

Ela helped me when I needed her the most and I failed to be there for her when she needed the most. A few weeks after she helped me, she called me and told me that she had something she wanted to tell me but the line was so bad I couldn't hear a thing, a few days after that I heard that there was a tsunami and that she died in the flood. I haven't been able to forgive myself. I don't know what she was going to tell me but I feel like she might have been asking for my help, since then a memorial has been held in her honour everyday on the day that she died. I haven't been able to go there. I think that a part of me is not willing to say goodbye, well at least not now.

"I know... I just can't do it right now Maria, when they call again, tell them that I will be out of town on business." I said.

"Okay... if that is really what you want then I will do that." She said.

"It is." I said and walked out. I needed some air, I haven't really dealt with Ela's death and I still can't do it.
