Logan's POV
After atleast an hour and a half drive, we finally reached our destination.
Or so I thought.
Meaghan parked the van here in the almost deserted parking.
Almost because there is an old and ruined container van in the middle, nothing else.
The parking is widely empty, I can only imagine the branches rolling caused by the wind.
"There's nothing in here though, so what are we doing here?" I asked them.
Nobody answered me.
Nurse Aaliyah brings out a box of specialized mask, and leaves the van while wearing one.
Kiel just shrugged his shoulder and put on the mask, and get off the van with his hands on his pocket while following nurse Aaliyah.
Benj and Meaghan did the same and so I did to.
We are walking in the direction of the metal container van, and stopped as soon as we got near it.
"Anong gagawin natin dito?" asked Meaghan.
Good thing I had my translating device back, atleast I can understand what they were saying.
Everyone was shocked when nurse Aaliyah grabbed the pistol on Kiel's pocket and shoot directly to the gas tank.
No one was able to move, still shocked because we thought were gonna burn here alive.
"What the hell?!" I was the first one to react and grabbed the pistol on her hand.
"Are you gonna try to get us all killed?!" I shouted at her.
Kiel stopped me from getting near her and just gave me a 'don't you dare do that' glare.
I am about to answer when we heard a loud sound that made us stop in our tracks once again.
The ruined metal door slowly opened while emitting a white smoke that covered the entire van.
While the smoke slowly subsided, a sillhouette of someone sitting greets us.
"Welcome fellow survivors."
As the smoke thoroughly clears, we got a glimpse of who is in front of us that made us all gasped in shock.
"Doctor Martin?!"
Benj's POV
Lahat ay napamaang sa gulat ng tumambad sa amin ang isang kilalang doctor at siyentista, si Doctor Martin Fuego of Fuego Mental Laboratory.
"Ooh, you're alive! And and," hindi natuloy ni kuya Logan ang sasabihin nya ng mapansing putol ang mga paa ng doktor.
"Ha ha, oo buhay pa ako, mabuti nga at paa lang ang nawala, atleast may magagawa pa ako para matapos ang lahat ng ito," sambit nito habang nakangiti sa amin.
"Tara na, baka may maka sense pa sa atin dito. Hindi na normal ang zombies na nandito sa lugar na to, siguro naman may na encounter na kayo habang papunta dito?" tanong nito.
Nagsitango na lamang kami habang sumusunod sa kanya papasok.
Halos lahat ay nagulat ng makapasok na kami ng tuluyan. Kung titingnan sa labas ay mukhang napakaliit ng space dito since yupi yupi sya sa labas, but in reality, it is quite spacious here.
"Follow me," may pinindot itong button kung saan at nagbukas ang isang daanan pababa.
An underground base.
May pinindot muli sya at nagbukas lahat ng ilaw, at tumambad sa amin ang napaka daming test tubes at iba't ibang klase ng zombie corpse na nasa lalagyan na may green liquid.
"May mga corpse pa sa lower floors nito, but you can't access it unless I permitted you to okay?" sabi nito na tinanguan lang namin.
"Masyadong high class ang nandoon sa baba, and unlike this normal ones," ani nurse Aaliyah sabay turo sa ilang nasa paligid namin. "Ang ilan sa nandoon ay buhay pa, and way stronger than the one we encountered earlier," dugtong nito.
Napaawang ang labi ko sa gulat.
"You mean, mas malaki and mas malakas pa doon sa sinasabing Tank zombie ni kuya Nathan?" takang tanong ko na ikinairap naman ng huli ng marinig ang pangalang binanggit ko.
"Yes, nasa 4th floor sya, and malayang gumagala doon since we don't have enough equipments and facility to test them," sagot nito.
"So kaya ka ba nandoon sa hospital in Cainta before ay para kumuha ng equipments or anything?" tanong naman ni Meaghan.
"Yes dear, may ipinapahanap si Doc Martin sa akin na specific medicines para ma-test ang effect nito and mabuo ang cure for this zombie virus, and limited lang ang hospitals na may stock non, so I had no choice but to travel that far," sagot muli nito.
"You can now remove your masks since ang mini bunker na ito ay protected from intense radiation. Equipped din sya ng special air conditioner that filters the dirt from the outside, leaving clean air on this site only since hindi nito na cover and lower floors since masyado ng deep doon," ani doc Martin.
Sabay sabay namin tinanggal ang masks namin at inilagay sa itinurong disposable bins ni nurse Aaliyah.
"Have a seat everyone. Alam kong madami kayong tanong regarding sa nangyayari ngayon, and I'm willing to share my knowledge about this but first," tigil ni Doc Martin sa kanyang sinasabi at tiningnan kami isa isa.
"Promise me that you will help in finalizing the cure by finding the required medicines and samples I needed," dugtong nito.
Agad nagtaas ng kamay si kuya Logan at sumagot.
"I'm Logan Xi, a second year med tech student from Wuhan, China. Since the covid-19 originated in our area before, we develop better clinical studies, tools and medicines that helped us to overcome and fight off other viruses. I would like to be one of your apprentice in making this cure."
Natuwa naman si doc Martin sa narinig at nilahad ang kamay sa binata na agad rin nitong tinanggap.
"That's good to hear, atleast we have another man power," nakangiting sagot nito.
"Excuse me Doc Martin, but I think we need to finish off this cure as early as possible. According to my cousin, who is one of the military frontliners, in approximately 7 days from now, they will bomb different parts of our country, or maybe in the entire world I don't know. They will do it since this virus almost infected everyone, it's like 70 percent of the total population of the eart are zombies, while the 30 percent remaining ar survivors who also fight each other in order to survive," mahabang paliwanag ni ate Meaghan.
Natahimik ang lahat at tanging mga tunog lang ng makina ang maririnig sa paligid.
Naputol lang ito ng basagin ni kuya Kiel ang katahimikan.
"We need to start as early as possible, para makapunta tayo sa crater to save ourselves and also the Earth."
Tumango lang si Doc Martin at may isinenyas kay nurse Aaliyah.
"Bring me the medicine samples I had asked you, and you Logan," ani doc Martin. "Follow me downstairs, let's test the sample I have been testing before," dugtong nito na agad naman sinunod ng binata.
"The three of you, what's your name?" tanong nito sa amin.
"I'm Meaghan Lewis Abeita doc, nice meeting you," sabi nito sabay lahad ng kamay na agad din namang hinawakan ng huli.
"Ohh Abeita? Are you somehow related to the Philippine General Abeita?" takang tanong nito.
"Yes doc, I am their eldest daughter, the rebel one I must say ha ha," sabi nito sabay ang pekeng tawa.
"Ako po si Benjamin Jacox," maiksing pagpapakilala ko sabay lahad din ng kamay, na agad din nyang tinanggap.
Napako ang tingin nito kay Kiel na ngayon ay hindi makatingin ng diretso sa kanya.
"And who are you young man?"
"I'm Kiel Ferida sir," tanging sambit nito, hindi man lang naglahad ng kamay kaya siniko sya ni ate Meaghan.
Umismid lang ito at kinamayan si doc Martin, na nakakapag takang hindi nya man lang binitawan ang hawak sa palad nito.
"Hmm you look familiar though, like someone I used to treat before, in any case, do you know Mrs. Stellar Ferida? The wife of Mr —" hindi na nito nataposang sasabihin dahil pinutol na ito ni Kuya Kiel.
"Yes, she's my mother," anito ng hindi man lang tinitingnan sa mata ang doktor.
Tumango na lamang ito at di na nagtanong pa.
"Sige lang, suit yourself, ipahinga nyo ang sarili nyo dahil may ipapagawa ako sa inyo mamaya. That's all, I'll leave you now," huling sabi nito bago itulak ang wheelchair papunta sa special elevator na magbababa sa kanila sa lower floor.
"Mrs. Stellar Ferida? Familiar sya kuya ha, hindi ko lang sure kung saan ko sya narinig," sambit ko na ikinagulat nito.
"Uy anong meron? Nanay mo pala sya?" dugtong ko pa.
"H-Ha? Yes haha, she's my mother. Sige na, I'll rest now, napagod ako kanina," sabi nito bago naglakad palayo sa amin at naghanap ng pupwestuhan.
Nagkatinginan lang kami ni ate Meaghan at sabay umiling dahil sa inasta nito.
Ano bang nangyayari sayo kuya Kiel?
