Chapter 9
Rising from shout sob, m eyes ride down the auditorium once again. There are a few human beings current at our wedding, the ones who in reality care about us, honestly the way I wanted. His household backing this marriage was all that is to be important. My smile widens as my eyes meet Scott's grandma. I can see tears in her eyes. I understand these are the tears of happiness.
Grandma has naturally loved me, just like her very own granddaughter. She is the single reason for my happiness. If it weren't for her, Brown would have in no way married a girl like me. Grandma gives me a small nod, gesturing me to say yes. I smile a little while I lifted my head towards my husband-to-be. His grumpy face is telling me how loads unhappy he is due to the reality of this arrangement.
He stares at me hatefully. I shut my eyes, unable to undergo his gaze.
"Yes, I do!" I will love him, honor him and keep him in sickness and in health and forsaking all others, so long as I live.
The officiant announced, "now I pronounce you man and wife.
You may also kiss the bride.
I open my eyes with his words. He is my husband now. I smile again, searching at his cold eyes. Will he kiss me? His gaze falls on my faded lips. My face fell towards the tiled floor. I recognize he doesn't want to kiss me and that is okay! I
Unawares, a tender touch on my chin brings me again to reality. His lengthy fingers hold up my chin, making me glare into his eyes. They are now not displaying any emotions. I glance at him in confusion. He leans over my face. His eyes are piercing through my skin.
"What… what are you doing?" my voice is no plenty much less than whispers.
His eyes never go away mine as he mutters, "didn't you hear what he said?" His minty breath is touching my nostril softly.
His gaze travels closer to my lips this time as he continues, "I can kiss my bride."
My lips shiver while he meets them. I shut my eyes and wait.
His warm, gentle lips in the stop touch mine. That sexy pair of lips pass gently in opposition to mine, solely once, and then he pulls back. A tear escapes from my eye. I never thought he will kiss me. My first kiss!
My hubby stole it. Things can now not be better. I flip round as the ceremony ends. Grandma is laughing, searching in the path of us. I ran horrifically towards her. I recognize she is not well and due to the reality of her age, she will no longer stay long either. This marriage is nothing but trading for Scott, trading for his grandma's peace and happiness in her last days. I walk towards her, and Scott follows me.
"Eventually! I can tell you, Cherokee, how blissful I am,"
grandma says, hugging me tightly, wrapping me in her heat embrace. Probably my mother's embrace would have been like hers. Unfortunately, I never get the chance to have her in my life at the moment perhaps I will see her again. But my mind is doubtful, Mom had gone for good. She had left me to rot alone in the street. My parents were never a part of my world. I grew up as a teenager knowing I was all by myself. And know I am going to erase their memory in my mind but it ain't working rather I am feeling more pain. Having no memories of them is best but hard.
Grandma has always treated me like her own family since the day Brown brought me into their Massive home. I hug her back.
"Thank you, grandma," I whispered shyly. "Congrats, Cherokee," Caleb offers a smile on his face. He is the right hand of Brown Scott and his Beta. And above all, he is Brown's cousin.
Thanks, Caleb," I reply with a sheepish smile.
"Enough chit-chat. Let's go!" Brown's deep voice grabs everyone's attention. He orders again, looking towards Caleb, "Caleb, drive grandma to the mansion."
"Aren't you coming with us? Where are you going?" Grandma asks in confusion. Brown chuckles.
"To consummate our wedding, grandma," he speaks shamelessly.
******
What is he saying? He hates me! Before our wedding, he told me he will never touch me! I look towards him once with wide eyes. I keep standing there in a daze. Have I heard him correctly? Grandma's smile brings me back. She cups my face as she speaks softly, "Take care of my grandson."
As we leave the congregation, Brown drives his car directly to his mansion. The ride is silent, as I don't have any courage to ask him about anything. Does he mean what he said back there? I can hear my heartbeats. The car stops in the garage and he walks me into the enormous mansion.
"I'll show you your room," he speaks for the first time. His voice is distant, just as usual. But I still love his voice. He must have joked back then. Thank god! I give him a small nod. And getting a new room while I was good staying with Phoenix got me more terrified of Brown. He is the only one who doesn't seem to be happy staring at me at the moment.
We walk across the dining area and then take the stairway. He leads me to a room on the second floor. He opens the door and I follow him. The room is dark as the windows are closed. I look around for the switches, but before I can find anything, I hear the door getting closed with a huge slam. I turn around instantly, scared. Brown turns on a dim light, only enough to see his gigantic frame. He is taking steps towards me. My heart is racing. What does he want?
