Before we finish eating, Conlan is back. His hand shakes as he runs it through his hair to push it out of his eyes and he doesn’t even sit down, just leans over the table, breathless with wild eyes. “Fifteen minutes,” he tells us. “We’re meeting in the conference room down the corridor, you know which one?” He doesn’t wait for a reply, just hurries on excitedly. “This isn’t about the signal, not yet—the general consensus is to let you guys stay a day or two if you want, get a feel for what we’ve got going here, before we start talking about what to do about that.
