Six months. It's been six since that night that brought me to the Kurtz's farm.
I never went back to Catherine's, I didn't even bother calling or anything. I came to terms that she wasn't my mom. It sounds cold, but she was a troll, literally, that put herself first. She probably had animosity towards me for Matt leaving her, as if it was my fault, and when I told her I was leaving for 2 weeks, she simply flipped. At least she knew she wouldn't properly care for the dogs on her own, and rehomed them.
I informed the Jones' that I wouldn't be able to work for them. They seemed disappointed, but I got the impression that it was only because they had to try to find another hired hand. Luckily, they didn't ask any questions.
